Chapter 4: Timeless Touch

Nathanial's POV:
17th Century

As the morning sun rose clearing away the darkness; Nathanial made his way back to the estate. He left the meeting behind him and he was ready to live as the human known as Nathanial Wilson. The Observer must stay within his inner dark cave of Nathanial. Nathanial opened the gates of the servents and helped Rasco enter through the gates. Nathanial patted Rasco as they walked toward the stables. The other horses stood up and neighed as Nathanial walked in. In the far back Manson was busy milking a cow.

"Son it's good that you came back before Hover returned. But, where were you?" Manson asked as Nathanial arrived at the stable. Nathanial tied Rasco back in his stall. He gave Rasco a pat on the back and fed him his food. Manson stood there near Nathanial watching in silence. Nathanial looked at Manson and gave him a reassuring smile. He hoped that would be enough but Manson stood there waiting for an answer.

"Old man I had some work back in the city, but I did promise I would be back to work so lets work," Nathanial said as he began to walk to the haystack and began to carry the food for the rest of the horses in the stable. Manson just stood there watching him, but later on admitted defeat and began to work alongside Nathanial.

"Son you do remember that this girl will be arriving pretty soon right," Manson said as he worked beside him. Nathanial began to recall what Manson mentioned the previous day. Lady Clarkson's niece was supposed to arrive today and Manson and he was in charge to welcome her. Welcoming people wasn't his thing, in fact, he was known more as a person who says goodbye to others. Goodbyes and Nathanial are synonyms to one another. However, when you work for someone, guess you have to do what you have to do. Manson stopped working and turned towards him. Nathanial knew what Manson will try to convince him of.

"Why don't you look for someone for yourself. You are a young lad, you have a good job. Maybe finding yourself a good girl will fix that look on your face." Manson said. Nathanial coughed in response. Marriage, the idea of two human being coming together in happiness. But does this union always lead to happiness. Nathanial brushed away the thought.

"Yeah old man I am learning from the best," Nathanial replied instead. Manson, shook his head and went back to his work. Manson didn't know that Nathanial was different than most guys his age,... and love was never meant for him and he wasn't repeating the mistake of his past. Myra, a name that defied his vow, and such a mistake should not be repeated twice. Only the memories held by her name, remains as his pain.

"If you two are done slaking off then get back to work. Nathanial, take this lock and close the estate gates. I don't care what mother says I don't want no new mouth to feed." Sir Clarkson said as he approached them from behind. He threw a heavy lock toward Nathanial way and he caught it with ease. Hover was totally drunk; Nathanial knew last night he had a drink or two with Sir Desen. Nathanial was about to head toward the gates when Manson stopped him.

"Hover, before we work for you, we work for your mother Lady Clarkson. So it is to our best advantage we follow Lady Clarkson's orders before we listen to you." Manson finished while Hover glared back at him. Humans are so amusing sometimes, always finding a way to downcast one another. Nathanial stood there watching the display of Manson and Clarkson's, after all, he wasn't created to take sides, but only to watch.

"Manson my mother won't always be around and the day I get my hands on the property, you do know you have to listen to me." Hover just about had it, but for Manson, he was no match especially when he is drunk. Within few minutes he was on the floor unconscious. Manson looked back at Nathanial as if disappointed, Manson really wanted a fight with Hover and be done with Hover once and for all. Manson left leaving Nathanial with Hover. Nathanial realized he has to be the one who to carry Hover inside. He picked up Hover to carry him to the house when Nathanial heard a rustling noise from afar. The next minute Nathanial was on top of a stranger covered in a black cloak.

"What are you doing here? I told the underworld to never follow me, how dare you disobey my orders." Nathanial ripped the cloak away from the stranger. The stranger's face was now totally visible to him. It was a witch, one of Dark Queens followers. Her whole face was covered in the relics only the followers of the Dark Queen is known to have. There was fear in the eyes of the Witch and one might think Nathanial should let her go because she was a woman. But she already sold her soul to the Dark Queen, she was merely a witch. Nathanial got off of her and held her up by her throat. "Why are you here, did the Dark Queen sent you?" Nathanial continued to question her as she looked down at him in fear.

"Observer you don't scare me, you can kill me if you want, but I am a Dark Spy and I only answer to my kind." she continued to claw at Nathanail's hands and tried to break free. Nathanial realized he wasn't going to get an answer from her. He dropped her on the ground. The witch got up and ran away in the distance. This wasn't the first time that he was followed by a member of the underworld. However, the Dark Queen never took an interest in him, until today. Nathanial wasn't so worried by the Dark Queen's sudden interest in him. He dealt with the Demons and Vampires in the past, she is just a pawn compared to the others. Nathanial watched as the witch vanished. He picked up Hover and took him into the house.

After placing unconscious Hover on his bed Nathanial headed back toward the field to help Manson. Manson was standing on the field gazing toward the estate gate. Nathanial walked up to him and looked at where Manson was looking. "Do you think she is on her way?" Manson asked him as he approached. Nathanial shrugged his shoulders in response but from where he was standing, he could make out a moving carriage coming this way. "Is the princess sleeping in her castle?" Manson asked. Nathanial looked at him weirdly than he realized Manson was referring to Hover.

"Oh yes, Hover is sleeping." Nathanial answered as he saw a smirk form in Manson's face. "I think we should head towards the gate, the carriage would be on its way." Nathanial could see a small carriage coming from the distance.

"You sure son from here I don't see a thing, but I guess my eyes aren't good as it used to be," Manson said as he walked towards the gates. Nathanial followed behind him. Soon the estate's gates opened and the carriage came in. Nathanial helped Manson with unloading the suitcases of the girl but Manson stopped him halfway. "Son I got this, help the girl out of the carriage and be careful, Lady Clarkson said she is carrying."

"Manson I got the bags why don't you help her I will carry her bags to the room. You can take her to Lady Clarkson's chamber." Nathanial said as he pulled the bags away from Manson. Manson stood there blocking his as he tried to avoid helping the girl.  Manson pointed toward the carriage so Nathanial would help the girl out. Nathanial sighed but honestly, he just wanted this to be over with. He handed the bags to Manson as he made his way towards the carriage door. The doors opened and Nathanial could make a figure trying to come out. Nathanial held out his hand toward the carriage so she could hold his hand and climb down.

As her hands grasped around Nathanial's hand, a familiar pain and sadness took over him. Her touch was a feeling that once was very close to him, but something he hadn't felt for centuries. Nathanial wanted to let go of her and at the same time, he wanted to grasp on to it and not let go. Why was her touch affecting him? From the carriage, the girl finally came out. The first thing Nathanial saw of her was her eyes. They were hazel with a tint of green, Rest of her face was covered with a veil so Nathanial couldn't see it however, he knew who she was. Nathanial could recognize that face anywhere at any moment in time. This girl was Myra. How was this possible? She continued staring at him and without even realizing Nathanial's hand moved toward her face. He lifted her veil. A silence fell between them as everything stood still. But soon the silence broke as the  girl looked away from him and pushed him away, but Nathanial had seen what he needed to see. Myra, she was back.

"Get away from me, how dare you!" She screamed. By then Nathanial had let go of her hand and he continued to stare. How was this possible? How can she be back and now? As if from a distance, Nathanial heard Manson calling out his name. But Nathanial was too lost in his own thoughts to hear Manson. Nathanial backed away from her as she moved away from him. Nathanial didn't know what to do so he ran out of the estate. He could hear Manson calling his name, but at that moment time itself copuldn't stop him.

Dark Queen POV:

"Dark Queen I am sorry I wasn't able to hide from the Observer, he found out that I was following him." The witch bowed down in front of the Dark Queen waiting for her punishment. Sitting on her bed the Dark Queen sipped from a goblet and listened to the failure that her Dark spy had committed. Her eyes intensified to a violet and she rose from her bed.

Floating above the witch, she used her magic. The witch was suddenly covered by vines, as she was lifted off of her feet. Her face showed fear as the Dark Queen brought her close to her face. Staring at the cold violet fiery eyes of the Dark Queen the witch could feel her brain melting.

"Darling, how could you fail me like that and return back to me alive. Am I really that nice that I will let you go alive like the Observer?" It wasn't a question it was a threat; the witch knew she was done for because she had failed. The vines around her tightened and ripped through her flesh, cutting her through. She began to bleed but then flames formed around the runes on her body and she began to burn, what only remained of the witch was ash. The Dark Queen dropped down on the bed in laughter.

"Henima are you having a laugh torturing your followers." Dark Queen turned around and found the Vampire Prince standing outside her chamber. The Vampire Prince walked in as the Dark Queen smiled at him. "Ashes I see, someone failed to do something for you?" The Vampire Prince questioned. He sat down on the bed beside her and eyed her in hunger.

"Something like that you can say, Jared. What brings you here?" Dark Queen questioned as she moved in closer to the Vampire Prince. The Vampire Prince gripped her by her waist and pulled her in close. He let his fangs come through as he moved the Dark Queen's curls away to expose her bare neck. "I wouldn't do that if I were you, Jared. My blood is poison to you but if you like you can die consuming my poison." Dark Queen said as she laughed.

"You really know how to spoil my mood, maybe I should punish you." The Vampire Prince said as he pushed her to the bed. The Dark Queen laughed in pleasure as she let him think she loved him. Love wasn't the Dark Queens thing.
