Chapter Three

 "How's the boyfriend?"

Yoongi rolled his eyes. After years of abuse, he knew this voice.

"You and I both know I don't have one, Jimin."

Jimin laughed. "Sad. You'd make a great bottom for someone."

Suddenly, Yoongi began to laugh. A loud, raucous, seemingly amused laugh. Jimin tilted his head slightly, surprised.

"You find that funny?"

Yoongi slammed his locker shut as he stopped laughing. He turned to Jimin and stared him down.

"No."

Jimin smirked. "Since when do you fight back?"

"I don't fight, you idiot. I mock. Just like you."

"I'll be sure to tell the boys."

Yoongi rolled his eyes again. "Shocking. Never wanna do the dirty work yourself. Fucking coward."

"What did you just say?"

Yoongi sighed as Hwang approached them. Yoongi turned to him, feeling rather cheeky and brave.

"I know it's difficult for you to understand, since you operate on a fourth grade level," Yoongi began. "So, I'll – "

Blood spurted out of Yoongi's nose before he even registered that he'd been hit. His head had snapped to the side and he now swung it back around to look at his attacker. He grinned at Hwang.

"Do you need a lesson on how to use your words?"

"You little – "

But Hwang was cut off by Jimin reaching out and catching his fist with his own.

"What did I tell you last night?" Jimin snapped. "Not until after first period!"

Hwang pulled back and looked down like a child being reprimanded. "Sorry, Jimin."

Jimin just rolled his eyes. He shoved his own backpack into Yoongi's hands. Yoongi looked at him confusedly.

"Homework," Jimin said. "Do it."

Yoongi raised an eyebrow. "What?"

Jimin sighed as though he were stupid. "I need my homework done by second period."

"You never make me do your homework," Yoongi said. "Your idiot army, sure, but – "

"Yeah, you think I'd risk leaving my precious academic reputation in your gay ass hands? But I don't have a choice today. Just get it done."

Jimin turned and snapped as he began to walk away, and Hwang quickly fell in line behind him. Yoongi watched them go as he swiped the blood under his nose away with his sleeve.

"And do it right!" Jimin shouted at him without even bothering to turn back around.

Yoongi scoffed once they were out of earshot. "Looks like golden boy needs someone else to get his grades up, too. Shocking," he added sarcastically.

Yoongi steadied his own backpack on his back, then picked up Jimin's and carried with him to his first period. On the way, he sighed when he saw Junho and Garam standing across from his classroom.

To his surprise, however, they didn't even acknowledge him. They glanced his way, but seemed to barely even register he was there.

"What the fuck?" Yoongi muttered under his breath as he entered the classroom and found a seat. Everyone was acting very odd today.

-

"Mr. Min!"

Yoongi looked up from Jimin's homework at his teacher.

"What are you scribbling on back there? You should be paying attention to the lesson!"

"Uh..." Yoongi wasn't sure what to do. "I-I'm taking notes for a friend who can't be here today."

His teacher raised a suspicious eyebrow. "And who would that friend be?" She said the word 'friend' disbelievingly. Even the teachers knew Yoongi was a loner loser.

"Um, Park Jimin, ma'am."

Every single head in the class turned and stared at him. Yoongi's cheeks burned.

"He, uh, asked me to take notes because he doesn't wanna get behind."

It had become so quiet, one could hear a pin drop in the classroom. No one moved. Not even their expressions changed.

"I-Is that, um, alright?"

Finally, his teacher's lips spread into a smile. "Oh, of course that's just fine!" she chirped. "Jimin is so smart to ask you to do that. What a clever boy."

Everyone turned away from Yoongi, and he was relieved. He didn't like attention. He was perfectly fine with being the invisible boy at school.

He picked up his pencil and looked down again at the paper in front of him.

"Although..." The teacher turned to him again. Yoongi raised his eyes uncomfortably. "Is everything alright with Jimin? Is he sick? Is that why he's not here today?"

Yoongi's eyes widened. "Uh..."

Everyone was looking at him again, and many students began whispering to each other, also confused and concerned for Jimin.

"N-No," Yoongi stuttered. "H-He's not sick." The teacher furrowed her brows at him. "He...I think he...I think he's going on a university visit today, ma'am," Yoongi lied, praying she wouldn't question him any further.

She shook her head as she smiled again. "Clever boy," she repeated to herself. Everyone else seemed to accept Yoongi's answer, too. He sighed with relief.

But his relief was soon replaced with annoyance. Now he'd have to actually take notes for the class, since he'd have to tell Jimin he couldn't go today. "Goddamn it," he muttered.

By the time the class ended, Yoongi had finished all of Jimin's homework, but hadn't completed the notes he'd need. He sighed as he put everything away and headed into the halls to search for Jimin.

He didn't have to look far. Jimin was leaning against the lockers on the opposite wall from the classroom. Hwang, Junho and Garam were flanking him.

Yoongi began trudging their way, hoping beyond hope that Jimin wouldn't be mad about his lie. When he reached him, he handed Jimin's bag to him.

"So – "

"It better all be done," Jimin sneered, being sure to not accidentally brush against Yoongi's hand on the strap of the bag.

"It is," Yoongi confirmed. "But uh, don't go to Biology today."

Jimin raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"I got caught doing your homework. I had to lie and tell Mrs. Lee that I was taking notes for you because you couldn't be here today."

"What?!" Jimin said sharply. "What the fuck did you – "

"I told her you had a university visit," Yoongi quickly interrupted before holding his breath.

Jimin stopped and considered this. After a few moments, a smile slid across his face.

"Good thinking," he told Yoongi. "That makes me look good."

Yoongi blew out the breath. "You're uh, welcome, I guess."

"And now I get to skip out early today! Mrs. Lee's class is my last one!"

He turned to his friends and laughed. They all joined in, though it was obvious they were confused as to why he was laughing. Yoongi internally shook his head at them.

"I'll finish up the notes from today and get them to you before you leave school," Yoongi promised. Then he turned and began walking away.

"Hey!" Junho called out. "Where do you think you're going? We're not done with you after what you said to Jimin and Hwang earlier!"

"Eh, just forget about it," Jimin interrupted. "Let him go finish my notes."

Yoongi's eyes widened as he looked up at Jimin, then turned to look at Junho. Junho was glaring daggers at him.

"You sure?" he asked Jimin.

"Yeah, just leave it," Jimin replied as he looked through all the work Yoongi had done. He didn't even bother to look up at his friends before walking away.

They began to follow him, but Hwang stopped short for a moment. "Once those notes are finished, you're ours." he hissed. Yoongi just stared at him, his heart beating wildly.

Once they'd all disappeared, Yoongi finally felt as though he could breathe normally again. He shook his head as if to clear it.

"This is already a bad day, and it's not even second period yet," he sighed.
