Chapter 33

A few days later, we see USMC Captains Anthony Towson and Jacob Rawlins with Ukrainian Marine Corps Major Stepan Kravchuk leading about 250 Marines in formation with covering tanks front.

Positioned strategically with tanks providing cover at the front, the group exuded an air of readiness and focus as they prepared for their mission.

Anthony and Jacob exchanged nods, silently communicating their readiness to Major Stepan Kravchuk, acknowledging the significance of the upcoming task. Each officer brought a unique set of skills and experiences, united by their commitment to the mission's success.

The Marines, standing in formation with disciplined precision, showcased their training and dedication. Each soldier bore the weight of the impending mission with determination, their focus unwavering as they awaited orders from the leadership.

As the trio discussed the strategy and prepared the troops, the atmosphere was charged with a sense of anticipation and readiness. The gravity of the mission ahead was palpable, yet the officers and Marines stood resolute, ready to face the challenges in their path.

"That was A-20s. Thunderbolt III, baby. Those things are fucking tank and dragon killers. That shit's a fucking monster." Said Kuribayashi as watches the newly built Fairchild Republic A-20 Thunderbolt III. A upgrade of the older Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II that the USAF gave to the USMC.

"Yeah, no shit, Kuribayashi." Said a US Marine named Corporal Kurt Fowler.

"Off they go into the wide blue yonder. Let's go, zoomies! Let's drop that righteous hand of God and Buddha on those demons!" Kuribayashi continued as she ran ahead breaking formation.

David saw this and got mad with the petite Japanese SSgt., "Kuribayashi, get back in formation!"

Kuribayashi didn't hear him and continued to run, "They're about to drop those bombs!"

"Kuribayashi, stay in position!" Said Jacob looking annoyed.

Kuribayashi didn't listen and still ran, "They're gonna drop the hand of God all over the demons!"

"Kuribayashi, stay in your formation!" Now Anthony was getting annoyed.

"Yeah!" Kuribayashi cheered but stopped running as the two A-20s are flying back.

"Kuribayashi, get..." Stepan slowly stop to as he saw the A-20s flying back.

Kuribayashi looked back at everyone with a confused expression, "Are they supposed to come back?"

"Get in format-!" Jacob didn't finish as Anthony put his hand on his shoulder with a worried look.

Everyone also stopped with most having a worried or fearful expression.

Their fears were slowly answering as Kuribayashi begins to back away. Then slowly starts to run while glancing at the two A-20s.

That are coming towards the Marines!

"INCOMING!!" Anthony, Jacob, Stepan, and David yelled in shock and fear.

"RUN!! RUN!!" Kuribayashi screamed as all the Marines ducked down from strafing run.

However, two of trucks behind the formation were hit causing them to explode.

Silence happen next. With the only sounds was the two A-20s flying away and burning wreckage of the two trucks.

The silence broke as the cries of Marines that were either near or in the two trucks were heard.

Stepan quickly goes to a Marine radioman who hands him the phone, "Quebec 4 Delta, this is Echo 5 Charlie. Request medevac, priority. Marines down, in grid 671584. We'll mark with red smoke, over." He spoke to command.

"Tell command that it was those damn new A-20s the Air Force got!" Yelled Kuribayashi who not so happy to see them now.

The chaos settled into an eerie quiet as the medevac was urgently awaited. Stepan, still holding the radio, began to relay more details to command while also organizing the unit to secure the area and provide immediate aid to the wounded.

Anthony and Jacob were swiftly assessing the damage, instructing the Marines to assist the injured. "We need to secure the area, get everyone organized. Medics will be here soon," Anthony directed, his voice a mix of urgency and concern.

The painful cries of the injured Marines were a grim reminder of the devastating impact of the accidental strike. Kuribayashi, visibly shaken, spoke up again. "This shouldn't have happened! Damn it, they were supposed to be supporting us!"

Jacob nodded, trying to maintain control amidst the chaos. "We'll get through this. Let's focus on helping the wounded and securing the area until medics arrive."

The atmosphere was tense, a mix of shock, frustration, and determination to aid the injured. The Marines swiftly moved into action, assisting the wounded and setting up a perimeter to ensure safety until the medevac team could reach them.

The sound of approaching helicopters brought a glimmer of hope as the medevac team arrived. Stepan quickly organized the landing area, guiding the medics to the wounded.

As the injured were airlifted out for immediate medical attention, the reality of the situation sank in. The accidental airstrike had left a profound impact, emphasizing the need for enhanced communication and coordination between air and ground units during operations. The troops, now focused on regrouping and moving forward, remained vigilant, knowing the importance of learning from this tragic incident.

Back in the staging area we see Cole visibly furious with the two USAF pilots that flew the two A-20s.

Lieutenant General Cole stood firm, his expression a mixture of fury and disappointment as he confronted the two USAF pilots responsible for the accidental airstrike.

"What in the hell were you thinking up there?!" Cole's voice echoed across the staging area, his tone stern and commanding. "You just turned our own men into targets! Explain yourselves!"

The two pilots, clearly rattled and regretful, stood at attention before the Lieutenant General, attempting to provide their account of the incident.

"Sir, we were on a strafing run, following orders," one of the pilots began, his voice tense. "We got a faulty signal and..."

"Faulty signal? That's your excuse?!" Cole's voice boomed, cutting off the pilot. "You think a 'faulty signal' justifies mowing down our own troops?! You're lucky there aren't more casualties!"

The other pilot, nervously trying to explain, added, "Sir, we didn't realize until too late... We thought it was an enemy position."

Cole's expression softened slightly, but the anger was still evident. "You thought? You thought wrong! You jeopardized our operation, you jeopardized the lives of our Marines! Do you understand the gravity of your mistake?!"

The pilots nodded, their expressions reflecting their remorse and understanding of the severity of their error.

"We're sorry, sir," one of the pilots managed to utter, his voice filled with genuine regret.

Cole sighed heavily, his rage tempered by the recognition of the dire situation at hand. "Sorry doesn't cut it! You've put us in a difficult position. Now, you listen to me very carefully. You two are off flying duty until further notice. Your actions have consequences, and I won't tolerate any more reckless mistakes!"

He turned away from the pilots, frustration still evident in his features. "Get these two out of my sight and ensure they're reassigned to desk work. I'll deal with this through the proper channels."

The pilots were escorted away by military police as Cole stood there, grappling with the ramifications of the tragic event caused by the airstrike. He knew this incident would have far-reaching consequences, and his priority was to prevent such mistakes from happening again in the future.

Lieutenant General Cole walked with purpose, his mind still reeling from the unfortunate incident caused by the airstrike. As he traversed the staging area, a Harpy from the nearby Harpy Kingdom approached him in flight.

The Harpy, her wings beating rhythmically, hovered next to Cole, concern evident in her eyes. "Sir, what happened? We heard the commotion, the chaos."

Cole halted his stride, acknowledging the Harpy's presence. He sighed, the weight of the situation pressing heavily upon him. "It was a mistake from our own aircraft. Two of our planes misidentified our troops on the ground, and they fired on them."

The Harpy gasped, a look of shock crossing her features. "Oh no... Were there many casualties?"

Cole's expression darkened. "Two trucks were hit, and we've got casualties. It's a terrible situation. We're doing our best to get the wounded medevaced out, but..."

He paused, the weight of the casualties weighing heavily on his conscience. "It shouldn't have happened. It was a mistake, a tragic mistake."

The Harpy nodded sympathetically, her wings fluttering with agitation. "I'm so sorry to hear that, sir. Is there anything we can do to help?"

Cole appreciated the offer of assistance, grateful for any aid offered during this challenging time. "Thank you. Right now, we're focused on evacuating the wounded and getting medical support. Keep everyone prepared, alert, and ready to assist. We need to ensure the safety and security of everyone here."

The Harpy nodded in understanding, her expression resolute. "Understood, sir. We'll be ready to assist in any way we can."

As the Harpy flew off to relay the information to her kingdom, Cole continued with a heavy heart, knowing that he needed to address the aftermath of this tragic incident while ensuring the ongoing safety of his forces.

Meanwhile with the Demon Army. We see them in a already destroyed village taking whatever is left or was left there.

In center of the Army we see seven of it's generals sitting by a well. Four were male. Three were female.

As the Demon Army rummaged through the remnants of the destroyed village, seven of its generals congregated at the center around a well, where they settled to discuss matters.

The male generals, clad in dark armor, exuded an air of dominance and power, their features marked by scars from numerous battles. They appeared stoic and unwavering, each one a formidable figure in their own right.

The female generals, no less imposing, carried an aura of calculated authority. Their expressions were inscrutable, yet an underlying sense of determination resonated in their presence.

Among the generals, a tense atmosphere lingered, a silent anticipation of the unfolding strategy in their conquest.

"Have the reconnaissance units reported any new movements from the human forces?" inquired one of the male generals, his voice gravelly and authoritative.

Another, a female general with a cunning gleam in her eyes, responded, "Scouts have detected increased troop movements in the north. It appears they're fortifying their positions, preparing for a counteroffensive."

A third male general, his demeanor more reserved yet formidable, spoke up, "The humans are more organized and united than anticipated. We must proceed cautiously to avoid underestimating their capabilities."

The conversation continued, discussing strategies and countermeasures, each general contributing insights and assessments based on their expertise and observations.

Amidst the desolation of the village, these seven generals orchestrated the Demon Army's movements, plotting their next steps in the ongoing conflict with a calculated intensity, fully aware of the stakes involved in their quest for dominance.

The Seven generals then went to a area where it was private. Meaning, no interruptions.

The seven soon break down in a panic attack as if their having a "Vietnam Flashback". In which case.

They are.

Because their are the only survivors from a Russian nuclear ballistic missile that killed off their Army and destroyed the portal between the realms two years prior.

Now they are generals and taking on a new land. But once they heard about the humans and demi-humans that took them out. Within a weekday mind you! Are on this new land that their on.

Let's just say............the seven generals' PTSD hit them.

"I can't believe it. We're fighting those humans and their allies again." The first female general spoke with fear as she looked at her burn scars.

"We barely survived last time. Our forces were decimated," she muttered, her gaze fixed on the scars that marred her skin. "And now, facing those humans and their allies again... it's like reliving a nightmare."

Another male general, his expression etched with distress, echoed her sentiments. "They were merciless. The power they wielded... it's unlike anything we've faced before. The memories... the destruction. It's too much."

Their panic attacks intensified, each general overwhelmed by the weight of their traumatic experiences. The horror of the nuclear missile strike, the loss of their comrades, and the subsequent battles against the humans and demi-humans created a vortex of anguish that enveloped them in anguish.

The generals struggled to regain their composure, grappling with the harrowing recollections that threatened to engulf them. In this moment of vulnerability, they sought solace in each other's presence, realizing that their collective trauma bound them together in a shared struggle against haunting memories of a catastrophic past.

The second female general's voice quivered as she spoke, her gaze distant and haunted. "I lost both my wings in that strike. I remember the flames... the blinding light. It tore through everything."

Her words hung heavy in the air, a stark reminder of the irrevocable losses suffered during the catastrophic event. The absence of her wings, once symbols of her strength and freedom, left her with a deep sense of vulnerability and despair.

"They took everything from us," she murmured, her voice barely audible, filled with grief and sorrow. "We were defenseless. Helpless."

The memory of losing her wings, a core part of her identity and power, intensified the anguish she felt, exacerbating the emotional turmoil that already gripped the group. The trauma of that momentous event loomed over them, casting a dark shadow that amplified their fear and despair.

A second later, they heard a familiar chopping sound. That made them go in a cold sweat as they knew that sound as they rushed out to see four V-22 Osprey modified with a XM21/M21 Armament Subsystems heading towards them.

Panicked. One of male generals put up a brave face and called out to his fellow demons, "It's the humans! Remember to take-"

He couldn't finish as the four V-22 Osprey fired at them.

With rubber bullets and fireworks. Making the demon Army go in a panic frenzy assuming it was a attack.

It was. But a psych warfare attack.

And the eight USMC pilots flying the four V-22 Osprey while blasting "Free bird" were having a great time.

The demon army was in an uproar, shouting and scrambling in confusion as the rubber bullets and fireworks rained down on them. They hadn't anticipated this kind of attack and were completely thrown off guard.

One demon yelled, "We're under attack!" while another screamed, "Take cover!"

Amidst the chaos, a succubus found refuge in a nearby wooden barrel, hastily hiding to avoid the perceived assault. She crouched low, trying to shield herself from the fake weaponry while keeping her wings tucked close to her body.

Meanwhile, the demon generals, startled and disoriented by the unexpected assault, attempted to regain control of the situation, calling out orders to rally their troops. But the psychological impact of the strange attack had clearly taken its toll, leaving the demon army bewildered and unsure of what was happening.

"Is this an ambush?"

"Find shelter! Protect yourselves!"

The demon soldiers, bewildered by the unexpected assault, sought cover behind rocks, buildings, and any available barriers. The unexpected nature of the attack and the ensuing panic made it difficult for the generals to regain control or convey orders to their troops.

The demons' reactions varied from shock and confusion to fear and uncertainty, all contributing to the chaotic scene unfolding in the midst of their camp. The whimsical choice of "Free Bird" blaring from the V-22 Osprey only added an eerie undertone to the unexpected barrage of non-lethal ammunition and pyrotechnics.

As the V-22 Ospreys continued their non-lethal psychological operation, the Marines on board began tossing handfuls of peanuts toward the ranks of bewildered demons. The peanuts, harmless by nature, were used as an additional psychological tactic, adding an element of absurdity to the already chaotic situation.

"Incoming peanuts!"

"Take cover from the nuts!"

The demons, already in a state of panic, were further disoriented by the peculiar sight of peanuts being hurled their way. Some demons attempted to dodge or evade the flying nuts, while others simply stared in bafflement, unsure of how to react to this unexpected onslaught.

The Marines, seizing the opportunity to exploit the demons' confusion, continued to toss the harmless peanuts, adding a surreal element to the chaos unfolding in the demon army's camp.

Amidst the clamor and confusion, the scene took on an almost surreal quality, as the demon soldiers tried to make sense of the unexpected and unconventional attack, all while dealing with the peculiar rain of peanuts.

As the Marines continued their unconventional psychological tactic, they switched from tossing peanuts to flinging old onions toward the ranks of the bewildered demon army. The pungent smell of the onions mixed with the chaos, creating an additional layer of oddity and confusion among the demon soldiers.

"Watch out for the onions!"

"Take cover from the smell!"

The demons, already disoriented by the peanuts, were now subjected to the overpowering odor of the onions. Some covered their noses, others tried to avoid the airborne vegetables, but most simply stood in utter bewilderment, unable to comprehend the bizarre scenario unfolding before them.

The Marines, maintaining a barrage of onions, added to the surreal nature of the situation, using the harmless but pungent vegetables to further unsettle and confuse the demon army.

Amidst the chaos, the odd combination of peanuts and onions created an atmosphere of absurdity, leaving the demons bewildered and uncertain about how to react to this unorthodox and thoroughly perplexing attack.

The four V-22 Ospreys, after their playful yet strategic psychological maneuver against the demon army, gradually ascended into the sky, their rotors humming as they distanced themselves from the chaotic scene below.

As the aircraft climbed higher, the Marines onboard exchanged triumphant glances, a sense of accomplishment evident on their faces. Some laughed, sharing comments about the peculiar nature of the operation they just executed.

"That was something else!"

"Can you believe we just did that?"

"Never thought I'd be chucking peanuts and onions at demons!"

The pilots, grinning behind their controls, guided the V-22 Ospreys away from the area, leaving behind a bewildered demon army in the wake of their unconventional psychological warfare.

As they flew off, the Marines settled back into their seats, some still chuckling at the bizarre yet effective tactic they had just employed. The incident would likely become a memorable tale shared among them, a story of an odd but successful mission to disrupt and confuse the enemy forces.
