Chapter 5

It was late in the night, thoughts of his and Moon's date were still on Stormy's mind. He had just tucked Cookie into bed and was now heading out of the manor and into town.

"Stay safe, Storms." Moon called. Stormy nodded and responded back with a quick, "Thank you!" as the loud manor door shut.

Stormy was quick to walk on the path that led out to town- he could see the lights, even from the inside of his room. His tail swished as he walked, and each of his paw steps sounding rather heavy,

The summers' night was rather cool, and quite pleasant for Stormy to walk in as he recalled the last place the vampire had struck. A local blood bank.

Stormy knew the vampire had morals- as never once was anyone claimed to have been bitten in the area, but the vampire heavily stuck around. It was quite impressive, although Stormy can only assume that years of hunting victims might get tiring.

Once Stormy approached the manor's gate, he carefully opened it, and lightly flinched as it loudly creaked. They really needed to get that fixed.

Still moving forwards, Stormy continued on. If he was correct, one of the witnesses of the break-in would be working tonight.

Soon enough, the dirt turned into gravel, and then into pavement. Streetlamps lit up the small town's road, lighting the way for Stormy, even with the moon and stars being as bright as they were.

That train of thought reminded Stormy that the full moon was approaching. He didn't have much time left before it'd become too dangerous for him to search.

He didn't have much time left to make sure he could protect Cookie. His son.

Stormy nearly paused in his path. He shouldn't get too attached, he was going to lose them anyways, so what's the point of caring? He shouldn't let himself get hurt; he didn't want to see them get hurt.

But it was hard not to get attached, was it not?

Stormy entered the blood bank and started up a conversation. "'Ello, I'm here to talk to the witness of the break in?" Stormy started. The receptionist flicked their tail. "Oh, hi! Yes, I've heard about it. I can go get her." The cat greeted back. Stormy nodded and watched as the receptionist called up another cat.

It wasn't long before a calico molly came out from one of the back doors, golden eyes shimmering with annoyance. "You're the cat who wanted to speak to me? You look like a stray." She hissed.

Stormy stood his ground and made no attempt to retort. "I'm here to talk about the intruder, if that's alright. Could you tell me-" Stormy was cut off by the molly. "I just got my job here and you're wasting my time." She snapped. Stormy lightly huffed, still trying to keep his calm.

"Is it alright if you tell me what the intruder looked like?" Stormy sighed, as the molly flicked her tail. "All I saw was a black cat that looked similar to any other black cat." She snarled. "But if you want specifics, it looked vaguely similar to the cat in those silly pirate stories my two kits used to love." She informed.

Stormy nodded and thanked the molly for her time and information. It didn't say a lot, but it told Stormy more than what he used to know.
