Chapter 3

Stormy had finished cleaning the manor long ago and had all the fishing gear ready. During Moon's lunch break, Stormy stopped by to ask if he'd be interested in joining them in fishing, but Moon had declined.

Now, Stormy was walking with Cookie to the local lake.

"Stormy?" Cookie asked, looking up at Stormy. The gray tom turned to look at the constantly teary-eyed kit, letting him know he was listening. "Thank you for being here for me. You're a great papa." Cookie smiled.

This caught Stormy off-guard. He purred happily, looking at Cookie. "You're a great son, Cookie." Stormy responded.

Cookie happily grinned, before running ahead. "Race ya' to the lake!" Cookie exclaimed, running rather quickly. Stormy chuckled, chasing after the young kit.

Moments like these were ones Stormy enjoyed the most, but a question settled in his heart.

Did Moon think the same thing? Was he a good dad? Would he make a good partner...?

Stormy shook his head, catching up to Cookie as the two ended up at the lake.

The air was quite crispy, and the lily pads on the lake had a distinct smell. Stormy grabbed the fishing gear, and got a worm on the fishing rod, showing Cookie how to put bait on the rod, and cast it out.

"Like this?" Cookie asked, looking at Stormy. Stormy nodded, purring quite happily. "Yeah! Like that." He confirmed.

Cookie had always been a bit slow to pick things up- not because he was a werewolf, but because of a brain injury. Cookie's memory also wasn't the greatest, but whenever Cookie got something like this right away, Stormy couldn't help but be proud.

"You're doing great, bud! Now, we just gotta wait for the fish to bite! If you feel something tug on the line, try pulling it out." Stormy instructed. Cookie slowly nodded and kept ahold of his fishing rod.

Cookie seemed to think about something, before asking Stormy a question. "How often do you fish? Is it always this boring?"

Stormy had to think on the answer. "I'd say I fish often, and yeah, it's pretty boring. One time, Moon and I were out fishing in Phen, and we caught this huge musky. Probably bigger than you!" Stormy chuckled.

The kit looked at him with awe. "Woah! Thats big!" Cookie giggled, imagining the size of it. "I'll catch a bigger fish!" Cookie decided. Stormy huffed playfully. "Of course you will! You're the biggest, strongest little kit there is! You'll probably catch more fish than I have throughout my entire life!" Stormy smiled, as Cookie proudly looked out.

Today was a good day in Stormy's eyes. He got to spend time with his kit, taught him how to fish, and hopefully they catch something good.

Stormy knew this wouldn't last long, as Stormy was getting closer to the mysterious vampire- he could feel it. Tomorrow night, however, Stormy would be on the search for it.

Cookie squeaked, and immediately turned to Stormy. "Papa! Something's pulling on the line!" The brown kit squeaked. Stormy chuckled, and helped reel it in, pulling out the sunfish. "Would ya' look at that! A mighty fine catch! Better than all of the ones I've ever caught!" Stormy proudly boasted, allowing Cookie to feel a great sense of pride.

"Woah! It's so pretty! Can we tell Moon? Please?" Cookie asked. Stormy chuckled and nodded. "Yes, we can tell Moon. He's gonna be so proud of you." Stormy agreed.

After a long day of fishing, the two decided to head home- with some great catches! Who knows what tonight would bring.
