🐿️Chapter-25🐿️
The next morning, Yoongi knocked on YN's door again, a nervous but hopeful smile on his face.
"YN?" he called softly.
"Come in," she replied, her tone more neutral than the day before.
He stepped inside, holding a set of keys in one hand. "I was thinking, maybe you'd like to spend the day with me at the hospital? I know it's not the most exciting place, but I thought you could see where I've been working all these years. It's a big part of me, and I want to share that with you."
YN hesitated, unsure if she wanted to venture deeper into her dad's world. But she remembered their talk yesterday and the way he seemed genuinely determined to rebuild their relationship.
"Okay," she finally said.
Yoongi's smile widened. "Really? Great! Let's get going then."
At the hospital, Yoongi led YN through the bustling corridors, greeting nurses and doctors along the way. She could see how respected he was, and it surprised her a little. It was strange to think of her father in this environment, saving lives and making a difference.
"This is my office," Yoongi said, pushing open the door to a modest but tidy space. "Nothing fancy, but it's where I spend most of my time when I'm not with patients."
YN wandered in, her eyes falling on the photos on his desk. One was of her and her brothers when they were younger, all grinning widely.
"You kept this?" she asked, picking up the frame.
"Of course," Yoongi said, his voice soft. "You're my kids. Even when I wasn't around, you were always with me in here."
Before YN could respond, there was a knock on the door. A familiar face peeked in. "I hear my favorite niece is in today!"
YN turned to see Jin, walk in. His white coat was slightly wrinkled, and his warm smile lit up the room.
"Uncle Jin!" YN exclaimed, running up to hug him.
Jin laughed, ruffling her hair affectionately. "It's been so long, kiddo. I almost thought you forgot about your old uncle!"
"Not a chance," YN replied, smiling. "I remember you sneaking me candy when me, Unnies and Oppas would get bored here."
Yoongi chuckled. "And you always told me she got those from vending machines. Nice to know the truth now."
"Hey," Jin said with mock indignation, "what's family for if not bending a few rules for each other?"
The three of them sat down, and Jin's easygoing personality quickly eased any tension in the room. He shared old stories about YN as a child, how she used to love exploring the hospital corridors, pretending to be a doctor.
YN's laughter filled the room. "I can't believe I did that! You must've thought I was such a pest."
"Not at all," Jin replied. "You were curious, which is a good thing. It reminded me why I chose to work in a place like this—to help people with curious hearts and bright minds."
Yoongi watched the interaction with a soft smile, grateful for his brother's presence. For the first time, he felt a sense of hope that his bond with YN could grow stronger.
After spending some time chatting with Jin, Yoongi stood and stretched. "How about I show you the rest of the hospital? There's more to it than just my office."
YN nodded, intrigued. "Sure, let's go."
Yoongi led her through the brightly lit corridors, pointing out different departments and occasionally stopping to introduce her to colleagues. The way the staff respected and admired her father didn't go unnoticed by YN.
"You seem... important here," YN said as they walked past a group of interns who greeted Yoongi with a mix of awe and nervousness.
Yoongi chuckled. "Important might be a stretch. But I try to be someone they can rely on. Being a doctor isn't just about saving lives—it's about mentoring, supporting, and making sure everyone feels valued."
They entered the pediatric ward, where a few young patients were coloring at a table. One little boy looked up and beamed. "Dr. Min!" he called, waving enthusiastically.
"Hey, Donghyun!" Yoongi said, crouching down to greet him. "How's my favorite artist doing today?"
Donghyun grinned, holding up a drawing of a spaceship. "I'm almost done! Do you like it?"
"I love it," Yoongi said sincerely. "You'll have to let me know when it's finished so I can frame it in my office."
YN watched the interaction, her heart softening as she saw this caring side of her father. She stayed back, unsure if she should join in, but Donghyun noticed her and waved.
"Hi! Are you Dr. Min's daughter?"
Caught off guard, YN nodded. "Yeah, I am."
Donghyun's eyes widened. "That's so cool! Your dad is the best doctor ever! I love Dr. Min!!"
Yoongi laughed, ruffling the boy's hair. "You're making me blush, Donghyun. Don't go giving my daughter too many ideas."
As they walked out of the ward, YN glanced at Yoongi. "You're really good with them," she said quietly.
"I try," Yoongi said, his tone modest. "Kids remind me of what's pure and good in the world. And they remind me of you, Jimin, and Hoseok when you were little."
YN bit her lip, emotions swirling within her. She remembered how attentive her dad used to be when she was younger, before everything had gone wrong. Seeing this side of him again made her realize how much she had missed it.
"Why didn't you show us this side of you back then?" she blurted out before she could stop herself.
Yoongi stopped walking and turned to face her, his expression serious. "Because I was too caught up in my own flaws and fears. I didn't know how to balance being a doctor and being a father. and on top of that, Hobi was in germany, Jimin was hating him. When you suddenly came into our lives...I didn't knew how to be the better father...a girl would want. I only had sons so having a duaghter was sudden...and with you condition... I thought I would mess up and you won't need me later."
"But we didn't," YN said, her voice trembling. "We needed you. I needed you."
Yoongi's eyes filled with regret. "I know. And I'll regret that for the rest of my life. But I promise you, YN, I'm not that same man anymore. I'm here now, and I'm not going anywhere."
They stood in the quiet hallway, the weight of unspoken feelings hanging between them. Finally, YN took a deep breath.
"As I said before, I don't know if I can forget everything, Dad. But... I'm starting to see that maybe you're trying. And that counts for something."
Yoongi's shoulders sagged with relief, and he gave her a small smile. "That's all I can hope for, YN. Thank you for giving me a chance."
As they continued walking, Yoongi pointed out the hospital's cafeteria. "Hungry? Their sandwiches are surprisingly good."
YN chuckled. "Okay, but if they're terrible, you're buying me something better."
"Deal," Yoongi said with a laugh.
For the first time in years, there was a flicker of warmth between them, a tentative step toward healing what had been broken.
