🐿️ Chapter-24🐿️
The morning sun streamed through the curtains as Yoongi stood outside YN's room, his heart racing. He had spent the night thinking about how to reach his daughter. Their bond had been shattered by his absence, but he wanted to try, no matter how difficult it was. Taking a deep breath, he knocked softly on her door.
"YN?" he called out, his voice tentative. "Can I come in?"
There was silence for a moment before her voice came through, muffled and distant. "What do you want, Dad?"
Yoongi hesitated, then slowly pushed the door open. He found her sitting cross-legged on her bed, scrolling through her phone with an air of indifference. "I was wondering if you'd let me take you out today. Just the two of us."
YN looked up, her eyebrows raising in surprise. "Why?"
"I thought...maybe we could spend some time together," Yoongi said cautiously. "No pressure. Just hang out, talk a little."
YN sighed and put her phone down, folding her arms. "What if I say no?"
"Then I'll understand," Yoongi replied, his voice gentle but firm. "But I really want to try, YN. I know I don't deserve it, but I want to make the effort. For you."
Her lips pressed into a thin line as she studied his expression. She could see the sincerity in his eyes, the guilt he carried. With a small sigh, she stood up and grabbed her jacket. "Fine. But no heavy conversations, okay?"
Relief flooded Yoongi's face, and he nodded quickly. "Deal."
Yoongi drove them to a small café downtown, one that held a special place in their family's history. It was the spot they used to visit after YN's dance recitals, back when things were simpler and happier. As they stepped inside, the familiar smell of freshly baked pastries greeted them.
YN glanced around, her eyes softening as memories surfaced. "I remember this place. We used to come here all the time."
Yoongi smiled faintly as they found a table by the window. "You used to order the biggest slice of chocolate cake and finish it all by yourself."
YN chuckled despite herself. "And you'd always pretend to steal a bite just to annoy me."
They fell into a comfortable silence as a waitress brought their drinks. YN took a sip of her coffee, her gaze drifting out the window. The warm atmosphere of the café felt almost nostalgic, but the weight of the past still lingered between them.
"So," YN said after a while, breaking the silence. "Why this place?"
Yoongi hesitated, choosing his words carefully. "I thought it might bring back good memories. I wanted to remind you of the times when we were...happy."
YN's expression faltered, her fingers tightening around her cup. "Those were good times, Dad. But then you left, and everything changed."
"I know," Yoongi said softly. "And I regret it every day. I know I hurt you, your mom, and your brothers. I can't change what I did, but I want to be here for you now. I want to make new memories with you."
YN stared at him, her emotions swirling. "It's not that simple. You left us when we needed you the most. Do you know how hard it was for me, for Mom, and Oppa? Watching Mom cry every night, trying to hold everything together for Jimin Oppa, when all I wanted was my dad back?"
Her voice cracked, and tears welled in her eyes. Yoongi reached across the table, his voice trembling. "YN, I can't take back the pain I caused you. But I promise you, I'll never leave again. I'll spend the rest of my life proving that to you."
YN wiped her tears quickly, not wanting to show too much vulnerability. "You say that now, but how do I know you won't leave again?"
"Because I've learned my lesson," Yoongi said firmly. "I lost the most important people in my life, and I won't risk that again. I'll do whatever it takes to earn your trust back, even if it takes years."
For the first time in a long while, YN felt a flicker of hope. She looked at him, her voice quiet but sincere. "I'm not ready to forgive you, Dad. But... I think I can try."
Yoongi's eyes glistened with emotion as he nodded. "That's all I could ever ask for. Thank you, YN."
Meanwhile, Wendy spent her day with Jimin and Hoseok, who insisted on taking her out for some much-needed relaxation. They began with breakfast at a cozy outdoor café, where the two brothers fussed over her like protective sons.
"Mom, you've been carrying so much lately," Hoseok said as he handed her a fresh croissant. "You deserve a day off."
Jimin nodded in agreement. "Yeah, let us take care of you for once. Let us spoil you"
Wendy laughed, her heart warming at their gestures. "You two always know how to make me feel special. Thank you."
After breakfast, they headed to a nearby park, renting bikes to explore the scenic trails. Wendy couldn't remember the last time she had laughed so much as Jimin and Hoseok raced each other, their playful banter filling the air.
"You're getting slow, Hobi Hobi!" Jimin teased as he sped ahead.
"Slow? I'm letting you win!" Hoseok retorted, laughing.
When they finally stopped to rest by the lake, they sat down with ice cream cones, enjoying the peaceful view.
"Mom," Jimin said softly, breaking the comfortable silence. "Do you think we can ever really be a family again? All of us?"
Wendy looked at her sons, her heart swelling with love and hope. "I don't know, Chim. But I think we're all trying, and that's a good start."
Hoseok leaned against her shoulder, his voice filled with quiet determination. "We'll get there, Mom. It might take time, but we'll get there."
Wendy wrapped her arms around them, a sense of peace settling over her. "With you two by my side, I believe that too."
As Yoongi and YN returned home, the air between them felt lighter. Though the wounds of the past were far from healed, a small bridge had been built. Yoongi glanced at YN as they reached the front door. "Thank you for today. It meant a lot to me."
YN gave him a small smile. "It wasn't terrible. But don't expect me to forgive you just yet."
Yoongi chuckled softly. "Fair enough."
When they stepped inside, laughter greeted them. In the living room, Wendy, Jimin, and Hoseok were flipping through an old photo album, their smiles radiant.
"Look at this one!" Jimin said, pointing at a picture of 13 year old YN covered in chocolate cake.
"Don't show that!" YN protested, immediately jumping in and snatching the photo out from Jimin's hands.
Yoongi stood back for a moment, taking in the scene. The warmth of family was palpable, and for the first time in years, he felt hope that they could rebuild what had been lost.
