I knocked on the door. I had texted Nikki earlier, telling her I would be at her house. I could tell she was at home, judging from the noise coming from the television. I was about to knock on the door again when Nikki opened the door. I gladly entered.

"He broke up with you, didn't he?" Nikki asked me.

I only nodded.

"What did he say?" Nikki asked again.

"He said that our relationship wasn't going anywhere. I found out later that all along, he was never interested in me. He was just using me", I said, bursting into tears I didn't know I was holding back.

Nikki sat closer to me and put her arms around me. I leaned into her and her long golden hair covered me. She was two years older than me but we were really close. I always considered her as an older sister because I didn't have any.

"Don't waste your tears on that stupid jerk. I didn' t like him anyway", Nikki said.

I looked at her, puzzled.

"What? You need my approval too before getting married."

I chuckled.

"You should have told me that earlier."

"I didn't want to upset you and you looked so happy."

"Thanks."

"I know what would make you happy."

"What?"

"Matchmaking!"

"No. The last time you did that, it was a disaster!"

"I've learnt from my mistakes. Come on. Kayla!"

"No. I'm really busy. So I have to leave now. Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

I stepped into my car and drove home.
