Chapter 20
Leila didn't know how she ended up at the court that she stood several years ago. Everything looked the same. The Jury, the Heads and the public watchers stood before her. The only difference was that she wasn't blindfolded.
"The decision has been made!" The Jury announced and Leila wondered what he was talking about.
It was only when Lucas appeared in front of her. Her eyes were glued to him as she waited for what would happen next. She had no idea what was going on.
All of a sudden, a sword flew towards Lucas and pierced through his chest. Blood spurted out from his back and he coughed out blood. The amount of blood he had lost weakened his strength and he collapsed onto the floor.
Leila watched in horror as the scene occured. She couldn't take her eyes of him who was laying in the floor in pain.
"This is your fault and this is the result."

"Lucas!" Leila screamed.
She looked around and realized that she was back in her own room. She was covered in cold sweat and breathing heavily. She breathed in deeply to calm herself down and patted the other side of the bed. She felt that there was nothing so she glanced over and could not find Lucas.
As she was about to get up and search for him, Lucas appeared with two cups of hot chocolate in one piece. No blood. No injuries.
"Is everything ok?" he asked her worriedly as he saw Leila in tears.
She rushed over and hugged him tightly. He automatically held out the cups so that it did not get in the way and looked at her confused. He was confused but did not say anything. He just let her hug him and she felt warm and became less tensed.
They settled down at the side table as they drank the hot chocolate. He watched her drink and felt relief as he took in her words.
"I'm fine, Lucas. It was just a nightmare," she told her after she released her hug before they decided to sip in their drink.

They spent a quiet morning before Lucas had to head off to duty. He did not have a choice. A day in Galax is a week in human world. If he skipped another duty, the weather condition in their world would worsen and in the worst case scenario, a natural disaster.
Leila decided to see him off at the door. He was still worried about her though. "I can keep you accompany, you know. Jacob can cover for me."
She shook her head and smiled.
"No. Duty is duty. I'll be fine."
It's not like he wished to force her when she was this assuring. He sighed and ended up giving in to her.
As he walked out of the door, he heard a thud on the floor. When he turned around, his eyes widened in shock.

Leila had collapsed onto the floor and did not respond to him when he called out her name. He quickly ran back to her and carried her in a bridal style. Her body was ice cold and her face was pale. He placed her on the bed and wrapped her in blanket to keep her warm.
He sat beside her and gently brushed her hair through his fingers. She was breathing heavily and soaked in sweat. He stood up to get a clean napkin but was stopped when she grasped onto his shirt.
He sat again and wondered what had happened as he intertwined fingers with her. She only calmed down when she felt someone holding her hand.
"I'm sorry," she mumbled as she shed a tear while she slept. His heart clenched as soon as he heard it.
"Don't be."

Leila woke up dazed and weak. She wondered how long she had fallen asleep. She squeezed her hand and felt Lucas's hands in hers. He had been sleeping beside her all this while. He woke up due to her motion and reached out his hand to feel her forehead.
"Are you feeling better now?"
She nodded and noticed that the moon had already risen in the sky. She realized that she had dragged Lucas into another mess.
"I'm sorry."
"Stop apologizing."
He ruffled her hair fondly.
"Seems like your friend is doing his work well." He pressed on the word 'Friend ' which made her chuckle.
"Stop getting jealous," she teased him and pinched his nose.
He pouted and rubbed his hair against her neck. It felt ticklish and they end up laughing together. They cuddled and made themselves comfortable as they watched the beautiful night sky. They were just like a normal couple. Normal. That was all she wished for.
"Leila."
She hummed in response as he hugged her tightly. He placed his head on her neck for a while before looking at her with eyes full of determination.
"I won't go anywhere without you."

"Why is he not back yet? If this goes on, we will really get into trouble."
Jacob and Ryan had been struggling to cover up for Lucas without getting noticed. It was getting harder as time passed by, resulting in the weather condition becoming harder to control. Jacob played with the control system while Ryan observed the monitor.
"I'll take over if it becomes too obvious. I'll like make it cloudy or something," Ryan offered as he wrote down the record on his report.
Lucas had been away for two days which did not make much of a difference in Galax but it's a different story on Earth. The time difference meant that it had already been two weeks in the human world where there had not been a single sunny day which was making situation difficult for humans and other living things to survive.
They needed to come up with something soon before the situation turns worse.

Lucas told Leila that he was not going anywhere without her and she knew he meant it. She obviously did not want to let him go but it was still wrong, especially after that dream. And that was the fate of a sinner.
"I don't think that-"
She got cut off when someone knocked on the door. They were both alarmed and kept their eyes fixed at the door. Alex entered the room and was surprised to see the two of them sighing in relief.
He glanced over at Lucas and leaned in to whisper something into her ear. Lucas raised his eyebrow at them curiously as they stared at him with a shocked face.
"How did you manage to not get caught?"
He scratched his head, wondering what she meant. She looked shocked and he did not understand why. Leila noticed that he did not really understand her so she decided to rephrase her sentence a bit.
"You know you skipped your duty."
He finally got what she was trying to say. He didn't know how to respond. Only then Lucas remembered the ring that Ryan gave him. Just when he was about to tell her about the ring, Alex tapped on the table to divert her attention.
"My lady, they will find out soon enough. We should move places."
She gave it a thought and glanced over at Lucas who was still not aware of what they were saying. She knew it was definitely better to switch rooms so that they would not get tracked. If not, Lucas would end up getting into trouble and she did not like the sound of that.

Inside the conference room, Aaron was surrounded by the other Heads. It was the first time the different Heads had gathered together.
Aaron was being questioned about the whereabouts of Lucas but he just shrugged his shoulders and told them that he did not know. After asking several times, they got irritated and one of them pinned him against the wall.
He winced in pain but did not do anything back. It was simply because he did not see the need to. "You are his direct supervisor! How could you not know?" another Head shouted at him.
"I'm not a babysitter for sure," he answered him with little consideration which obviously irritated them even more.
"I'm pretty sure he's with Leila Song. That angel had been getting too friendly with him," another person voiced out his thoughts.
Aaron glared at them when he heard them mentioning Leila.
"Do you have something to say, Aaron?" Pierre hummed. He was the one holding him down and he was definitely the strongest among them.
Aaron nodded his head and laughed, "I was about to tell you how bad your breath smell. Like rotten egg I guess."
Pierre kicked him in the stomach and reached out to pull his mask off. Aaron was much quicker than him and grabbed onto his arm. Then, he slammed the man onto the floor hard enough for the man to cough out blood.
He dusted the dirt off his shirt and smirked at them. He was surrounded by various weapons that the Heads held. They knew his strength and they definitely sensed the danger from him.
He raised his right arm to show that he had surrendered. No matter how strong he was, Aaron was not stupid enough to enter the war zone where he would clearly die.
Pierre pushed himself off the floor and walked towards him. Aaron knew what was going to happen but he did not move. He punched Aaron with so much strength that he flew until he hit the wall and collapsed onto the floor.
He pulled Aaron up by his collar and squeezed his bandaged arm. Aaron could not help but to scream in pain as he felt like his hand was being ripped apart.
"I never trusted you and I'll make sure to rip that mask off your face one day," he growled and threw him on the floor.
After that, all of them, except Aaron, left the room.

Aaron got up and leaned against the wall. His left arm started to bleed under the bandage. It seemed like the wound had opened once again.
He noticed a mirror at the side so he went towards it. He stood in front of it as he stared at the reflection of his face.
He took off his mask and his face darkened the moment he saw what was hidden inside. He punched the mirror out of anger which broke into tiny pieces.
Regret.
