Chapter Eleven

The three boys were about to enter Roman's room when Virgil stopped them. "Guys, we have to be cautious," he said lowly. "What do you mean?" Patton asked in return. Virgil sighed. "Roman just had a really big panic attack and thought we abandoned him. He's probably really freaked out and may not react well to us being all up in his space. Just, be wary of touching him before asking and try not to overwhelm him. We have to be careful with him." Patton and Logan nodded quickly before Virgil pushed open the door, revealing a truly heartbreaking sight. Roman was curled in a tight ball, gripping his blanket tightly. The saddest part was his face. It was completely relaxed and void of any unpleasant emotion. However, the tear tracks down his cheeks were unmistakable. They were the cause of this, and they felt awful. Patton made the first move, sitting beside Roman's sleeping figure. He reached out to brush back Roman's hair lightly, hoping to calm him. However, when Patton's hand came in contact with Roman's forehead, the latter flinched, causing Patton to pull his hand back quickly. He looked up at Virgil and Logan with a guilty expression. "It's alright, Pat. Let me try," Virgil said lowly. He kneeled in front of the bed, facing the sleeping boy. "Hey, Ro. Wake up, bud," Virgil softly said, causing Roman's eyes to flutter open. He looked at the three boys with wide eyes, reaching slowly to grab his phone and type a short message.

You came.

Something about that message made all three boys' hearts break. "Of course we came," Logan said softly, sitting on the bed next to Patton. Roman sat up, looking around at each of the boys' faces. He couldn't help the slight tears that build behind his eyes. "We're so sorry, Roman. We didn't mean to be so late," Patton said, not missing Roman's glossy eyes. He typed into his phone quickly to share his true fear, even if he was a bit nervous of being so open to them.

I thought that you'd changed your mind and didn't want me anymore.

Upon reading this message, Roman didn't expect Logan to be the one to respond. Cold, quiet, and closed off Logan. The same Logan who now also had glossy eyes and was moving toward Roman with shaky movements. "Can I touch you, Roman?" Logan almost whispered. Roman nodded lightly, allowing the boy to pull him into his arms, holding him tightly. Roman laid his head on Logan's shoulder, relaxing in his hold. "We would never leave you behind, Roman. We won't abandon you. I promise." Logan's voice choked on the last word, overcome with emotion. Roman felt his confusion grow as he looked to the other two and simply saw sympathetic glances toward Logan, who was now sniffling softly. Roman, however upset, felt that Logan was the one who needed the comfort, so as much as he wanted to pull away, he held Logan tightly. Eventually, Logan pulled back and wiped his eyes quickly. "I'm going to go to the bathroom for a moment. Excuse me." With that, Logan walked quickly from the room, leaving two solemn boys and one confused one. Roman texted Virgil directly, who showed the message to Patton.

What just happened?

Virgil and Patton shared a look before Patton nodded, prompting Virgil to turn toward Roman. "I can't give many details because it's not my story to tell, but Logan has some...abandonment issues. He puts on this emotionless front so that he won't seem vulnerable, but he has such a hard time trusting us and believing that we aren't going to leave him. Seeing you scared of being abandoned probably freaked him out and triggered that reaction." Roman nodded, his heart aching for the boy. "I'm gonna go check on him," Patton said softly, turning toward the direction Logan left. Virgil sat next to Roman, looking at his tear stained and exhausted profile. "How you holding up?" Virgil asked, prompting a shrug from Roman. "You know, I have panic attacks too." Roman looked at Virgil quickly, his eyebrows furrowing. Virgil has them too? Maybe I'm not so crazy. Virgil continued, keeping his volume low. "I know they can be really tolling, so I just wanted to say that it's okay if you're not okay and I'm here if you need anything. All three of us are." Roman nodded. Virgil expected the conversation to end there, leaving the two boys to sit in silence until the other two returned. What he hadn't expected, however, was for Roman to scoot toward him and carefully curl into his lap, cuddling against him and leaning his head on his shoulder. Virgil knew that the boy probably craved comfort after his strenuous morning, so he didn't hesitate in wrapping his arms around Roman and rocking him lightly. Roman hummed happily, planting a soft smile on Virgil's face. A few minutes passed before Patton returned with a tearful Logan. "I apologize, I did not mean to react in that way," Logan said, his voice cracking softly. Roman stood up and walked over to Logan, shaking his head before pulling him into another hug. Logan relaxed into it instantly, appreciating the comfort. "Alright drama queens, if someone isn't cuddling me in the next ten seconds, I'll sue," Virgil said with a sarcastic grin. Both boys pulled apart and smiled softly, moving toward the emo. Before they could reach him, Patton ran at full speed and tackled Virgil against the bed, causing the latter to giggle loudly. Logan and Roman laughed lightly, shaking their heads before joining the other two, all wrapping around each other and holding each other close. The room fell silent once they were all comfortable. The silence was eventually broken by Patton. "Hey guys? I know we said we were going to wait until later, but I don't wanna wait anymore." Roman furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "I agree. While there are potential benefits to waiting a bit longer, I have no desire to do so," Logan added, sitting up. "Well, lets do it then. I don't want to wait anymore either," Virgil added with a grin. Roman sat up, looking at the three in confusion. "Roman, we would like to speak with you about something," Logan stated. Roman could already feel the panic rising. They're going to tell you that they changed their mind and you're too much work. You're not worth their time. They're done. They're- "It's nothing bad, Roman, I assure you," Logan added on with a soft smile. "We, uh, well we...why is this so hard?" Virgil asked. "We really like you Roman," Patton said with a smile. Roman felt his heart stop in the best way. He must have looked dazed, because Patton giggled before continuing. "We wanted to wait to make sure we didn't mess anything up or make you feel uncomfortable, but we just couldn't hold it in anymore!" Roman couldn't help but smile and blush. "Basically, what we are attempting to get at, is that we would like for you to become part of our relationship," Logan said, mirroring the boy's grin. "Would you want to be our boyfriend, Ro?" Roman smiled and almost nodded before his thoughts caught up with them. They're too good for you. You're too much work. Or what if they're like Andr- "Hey Ro, it's okay if you don't want to. We understand, we can still be friends," Virgil said with a soft voice. Roman shook his head quickly. "Oh. You don't want to be friends anymore," Virgil whispered with a hurt tone. Roman's eyes widened as he grabbed his phone and typed quickly.

I really like you guys too. And I want to be your boyfriend, but I'm more trouble than I'm worth. I'll be doing you a favor by leaving you alone.

"Falsehood. You are not any trouble at all, and we would be more than honored to call you ours." Roman smiled again, this time allowing himself to feel the happiness of the moment. "So...is that a yes?" Patton asked. Roman felt his his grin drop once more. What if they are just like A- Roman typed before his thoughts could get the better of him.

I don't want to go into detail right now, but I was in a not so great relationship for a long time. I'm just...scared.

"Oh, Ro," Patton said softly. "I promise you, we would never intentionally hurt you," Logan added. Roman nodded, despite his uncertainty showing through. "Is there anything we can do, Roman? We'll do anything you need to feel comfortable with us," Virgil said, his tone rather nervous. Roman paused. They're willing to do anything just to make you comfortable. He nodded slowly, typing into his phone.

If it's not too much trouble, could you possibly ask before touching me? Not for like hugs but like kisses and stuff? I understand if it's too much work.

"Of course we can ask you before touching you, Roman. Your consent is a top priority," Logan said. Roman felt his heart swell. He's lying. Roman forced the thought out before typing again.

I also have really bad panic attacks (as you know since you're here haha) but please don't freak out if I have an attack in front of you

"We would never, Roman. I can actually help you calm down if you ever need," Virgil offered with a soft smile. Roman softly smiled back.

Only a few more things, sorry for the long list. Please don't push me to explain anything until I'm ready. I had a... bad past and while I trust you guys, I really don't want to talk about it right now if that's okay.

"That's more than okay, Ro," Patton smiled reassuredly. Roman felt his face flush at the last thing he wanted to say.

Im sorry if this makes you uncomfortable, but I really can't do anything sexual with you guys. Maybe one day but I'm just not comfortable doing anything if thats okay with you guys

"Ro.." Virgil started to say. Roman's eyes widened as he typed quickly.

I mean if you really want to we can! I'm sorry I shouldn't have said anything

"Oh, no. That's not what I mean, Roman," Virgil said softly. "You don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with," Patton said. "May I be frank with you, Roman?" Logan asked. Roman felt his heart rate quicken, but nodded nonetheless. "While you are one of the most beautiful boys I have ever seen, I am not interested in you romantically only for sexual purposes. Of course, I am attracted to you physically. However, the reason I have feelings for you is because of your personality and who you are as a person. We could never have sex and I would still be entirely infatuated with you." Roman felt his breath catch. "I agree," Patton said with a grin. "Me too, Ro," Virgil added with a smirk. Roman looked between the three boys and all of his worries faded. He couldn't deny it. He wanted this. He wanted them.

Roman nodded as quickly as he could. "Yes? Yes what?" Virgil asked. "Wait...yes? Like yes you'll be our boyfriend?" Patton asked with an excited grin. Roman nodded again with a large smile plastered across his face.

Roman couldn't help but giggle aloud when three pairs of arms wrapped around him.
