Sperm Donor

The next day Jessica was planning on meeting with Sarah and her bridesmaids to get fitted for dresses. Jessica was anxious to go. She didn't know what to expect. It was hard for her to lose the baby weight. Jessica was still wearing maternity clothes. She just hoped she'd be able to be comfortable.

Her mother and father had work, and Danny was working, so Jessica had to take the babies.

When she got to the bridal shop all of the girls including Sarah were sitting around enjoying wine. Jessica walked in with the double stroller and baby bag. At first, none of her old friends recognized her.

"Oh my god! Is that Jessica?" A girl named Maggie stands up. All of the girls squeal and run to Jessica.

"That's me." Jessica says awkwardly as they all crowd around her.

"I didn't know you had babies! Wow, congrats."

"Yep, I do." Jessica says as they kneel down to them. Sarah comes over and gives Jessica a hug.

"It's great to see you." She whispers

"What are their names? They are so adorable!" Their friend Christine says.

"Scarlett and Wyatt."

"You and Sam must be very happy."

Jessica and Sarah go quite. Jessica smiles then shakes her head. "No, Sam isn't the father."

"Oh... I didn't know." Heather says

"Maybe we should get started on fitting you all!" Sarah says quickly trying to change the subject.

As the day went on Jessica felt a bit left out of the loop. All the girls talked and talked but Jessica sat in the corner with the babies. Many of these girls Jessica hadn't talk to since high school. She wasn't big fans of all of them. Others, she was still very close with. Jessica felt a bit off but she didn't show it. She wanted it to be a special day for Sarah.

"Okay Jessica, come on out!" Sarah yells.

Jessica was in the dressing room with the lady. The dress they had made for her barely fit. She was so uncomfortable. Her breast were squeezed in and the zipper barely zipped.

Jessica was so embarrassed when she walked out. All of the girls stared at her.

"It looks great." Sarah smiles

"I can barely breathe."

"Maybe a bigger size would work?" Maggie says.

Jessica gave her a stern look. Maggie was Evans sister. Sarah only put her in the wedding to be nice. Jessica was not a big fan of her at all. Ever since high school she was always so rude.

"I can fit her again." The seamstress says

"Jessica, you look great." Sarah says

Jessica was about to cry. She felt so unhappy with herself. She left the room before they saw her cry.

Once the fitting was over all of the girls were walking outside.

"Maybe we could all go out to lunch?" Jessica says to the girls

"Actually, we are going to the bar. I mean your more then welcome to come... I just don't think it's baby friendly." Maggie says in a snarky way.

"Oh yea, of course. I'll just go home." Jessica shakes it off and puts a smile on her face.

"Besides, it seems like your babies are fussy."

Jessica looks at the stroller then nods. "I guess so."

"I'm sorry Jess, maybe we can catch up before the party?" Sarah says giving her a hug.

"Yea, okay."

Jessica watches the girls walk off laughing and enjoying themselves. Jessica sighed and looked at the babies.

"Ready to go home?" She says pushing them to the car.

When Jessica got home she was in an irritable mood. She felt so upset that Sarah left her like that and they all went without her.

As Jessica walked in she saw Danny on the couch watching football.

"What the hell, Danny?" Jessica says slamming the door.

"What?" He turns around and looks at her with full hands.

"You said you had lots of work to do. You lied to me!"

"No, I'm just taking a break." He says pausing the game.

"You could have watched the babies. It would have only been two hours." She walks in front of the tv and stares him down.

"Listen, I'm sorry. And the babies always have to be with you for food and stuff."

"There is a thing called pumping and bottles. I can't believe you, Danny. You make me do this all alone. I mine as well call you my sperm donor. You're never around anymore. It's always just me and the babies. When you are around you work. Well guess what, fuck you." Jessica yells and walks away.

Danny stands up and follows her.

"I've been working my ass off. I'm trying to make a living so I can support you. You know I do a lot for this family. Don't you dare call me a sperm donor." Danny clenches his teeth in anger.

"I didn't ask to be supported. I could support myself."

"Oh really? You aren't working."

"That's because I'm taking care of our babies day and night. I'm the one that feeds them every minute of everyday. I'm the one that changes their diapers, bathes them, changes them, puts them to sleep, and clams them down when they cry for endless hours. You, you do diddly squat."

"That's a lie, take that back. I do stuff."

"Not enough. You know today I was getting fitted and I sat In the corner, alone. All of the girls had a great time but I couldn't because I had two babies on my boob. Maybe i could have been there for Sarah if you were there for me and helped me out. It would have been an hour. Just so I could feel normal and enjoy myself."

"Things aren't always the same when you have kids. You've been acting different lately. Picking fights with me, always crying, pushing me away. What did I do to make you like this?"

"For me, but not for you. You're able to go out and work, then have drinks. Me? No... I can't because I'm the mother. God so help me if I want to do something for myself, just once!" Jessica yells as loud as she could.

The babies hear her and cry. She looks at them then back at Danny.

"Jess-"

"No Danny! Don't jess me."

"We signed up for this." Danny snaps

"Maybe I just signed up with the wrong person."

Danny and Jessica didn't speak for the rest of the night. Jessica decided to leave Dorthy and Alberts for a while to calm herself down. Her and the babies went over to Ann's for a little bit.

"Relationships are always tough when you have babies. It just takes some time." Ann says handing Jessica a cup of tea.

"I hate fighting. We've never fought like that. I said horrible things... sadly, it is was what I felt."

"Jessie, I'm sorry. Are things really bad right now?"

"He's never home anymore. He's always working. He won't let me work. But then he's goes and says he's the only one working. What a hypocrite." Jessica says

"Well Jessica, you just had twins over a month ago. You're a great mom, Jessica. You don't need him to be a good mother."

"But we are in this together. And he's promised me so many times that it would never be like this. I love Scarlett and Wyatt. I want to give them the best life with both of their parents!"

"I get that. Maybe you just need to talk to him."

"I've tried, but I get so angry. Ann, I don't know what's going on with me. I've just been so-"

"Depressed?" Ann interrupts her

Jessica pauses for a moment. Depressed... she never thought of it like that until now.

Jessica takes a sip of her tea and lightly nods.

That night when Jessica got home Danny wasn't there. It was just Jessica's parents and George.

"Hey, Jess." George says helping her inside.

"Hey, I was at Ann's house." Jessica says

"She called to let us know. Did you have dinner over there?" Dorthy says giving her a hug.

"No, but I'm not that hungry. Where is Danny?"

"He left a while ago." George says sitting on the couch.

Jessica unstraps Wyatt and picks him up.

"Oh, okay." Jessica says In a discouraged tone.

"You know what Jessica, how about I help you put the babies down." Dorthy says picking up Scarlett.

"You don't have to do that, mom."

Dorthy stops and looks at Jessica. "Let me help."

Jessica and Dorthy were in Jessica's old room rocking the babies to sleep after they had eaten. Jessica was a bit quite, she'd keep checking her phone for Danny.

"Jessie, George told me." Dorthy says softly

"He told you what?" Jessica sets down her phone.

"He was home when you and Danny were fighting.... Jessica, is everything okay between you two?"

"I don't know, mom."

"If you ever need to talk, i'm here."

"I'm just sorry for fighting in the house."

"Don't worry, it's fine!"

"Is our family doctor still open?" Jessica asks

"Yes, he's still open. Why?"

"Is there any way you'd be able to set me up an appointment. I think Scarlett may have a cold and I want to make sure she's okay."

"Of course, I'll call in tomorrow. My poor little girl. Are you not feeling well?" Dorthy pouts. She looks at Scarlett who was asleep in her arms then smiles.

"Luckily Wyatt is okay, but I'm worried for her."

"I'll call first thing!"

"Thanks, mom."

That night Jessica was in her bedroom with the babies sleeping. Usually her and Danny would sleep in the guest room with the bigger bed, but Jessica wanted to avoid him at all cost.

Late at night Jessica heard the door creek open. She had a feeling it was Danny but she didn't turn her body. She closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep.

"Jessie, wake up." Danny says shaking Jessica's body.

Jessica turned around quickly and moved away from him.

"What are you, crazy? It's two in the morning."

"I know... it's just I couldn't sleep without you." Danny sits on the floor next to Jessica's bed.

"Danny, not tonight. Just let me sleep alone."

"No, I love you. I'm sorry for not being there. You've been such a great mom and doing all the hard work. I just want to be a parent like you. You work so hard for the babies I just want to work hard for you in return. My schedule has gotten out of control and I'm so sorry..."

Jessica rubs her eyes and looks at Danny. "Okay." She says

"That's all?"

"I don't have anything to say."

"Maybe an I love you, I forgive you, I'm sorry for calling you a sperm donor.

Damn it Jessica, do you even feel bad?" Danny stands up and breaks away from Jessica.

Jessica sits up even more and shh's Danny.

"Go to bed, Daniel. Before you wake them up."

"Fine."
