April, Jessica's birthday, 16 weeks pregnant;

"Happy birthday day to you, happy birthday to you! Happy birthday day dear.... mommy! Happy birthday to you!" Sam, the twins, and Jack woke up early to make Jessica a birthday breakfast and wanted to surprise her in bed.

She was woken up to the sound of loud singing and giggles.

She sits herself up and smiles. "Oh my goodness! Is this for me?" Jessica giggles

"Yes, mommy! We made it just for you!" Wyatt smiles

"It's so yummy!" Scarlett smiles

They all hop into bed with her and give Jessica the breakfast with some tea.

"Happy birthday, darling." Sam says leaning forward with a kiss

"This is too sweet. I love you all, did I tell you that today?" Jessica smiles

"No, but now you did!" Scarlett giggles

"What do we have here?" Jessica says looking at the beautiful set up.

"We have your favorite pancakes, chocolate! Your biggest craving, watermelon, some breakfast potatoes and syrup!" Sam says

"Thank you, honey. I love you." She smiles

"Jack helped too!" Sam says holding him

"Aww, my sweet baby Jack. Thank you, honey." She says kissing him too.

"I love you" he says quietly

"We have some big plans today! After breakfast we can all get ready and go get some flowers for you at the nursery, have a big lunch and Latone's, your favorite, come home, watch a movie, then your family is coming over for dinner!" Sam smiles

"But you don't have to cook, Sam said!" Scarlett smiles

"Oh well, good! Sounds like fun! Is everyone up for all of that?" She says directing it towards Sam.

He had been struggling that last few weeks and was becoming very weak. Every little activity made him tired and dizzy. Jessica didn't want Sam to go overboard just for her birthday. She felt guilty. She knew inside he was hurting and uncomfortable. Regular tasks made him feel like he was going to pass out.

The night before Jessica's birthday Sam had come home from chemo very sick. He was up all night and now he was making breakfast and doing all sorts of things. With chemo, Sam would be really run down, but on his days off he would have bursts of energy before he got too tired.

"Why don't you guys go grab mommy your gifts for her!" Sam says

Scarlett and Wyatt got so excited and ran out of the room and downstairs to get her gifts.

Jessica gave Sam a look and sighed.

"What?" He says

"Sam, you have to take it easy. I said I just wanted to stay in for my birthday. You don't have to do all this." She says with guilt

"It's your birthday, you're pregnant, and it's so beautiful outside. Why wouldn't I want to make a big deal about it?"

"You were up all night throwing up. Sammy, you have the biggest heart but... you have to slow it down a bit." She says taking his hand

He pulls it away from her and huffs. "I'm not going to let a bad night stop me from having a nice day with my family."

Before Jessica could say anything else, he got up to go check on the kids. While they were downstairs getting the gifts Jessica went through her phone and waited.

After breakfast Jessica opened some gifts then got everyone ready for the day. Her and Sam took their showers, got the kids dressed, and packed up for a day out.

The first stop was the flower nursery. Jessica loved gardening so coming here was one of the best parts of the days.

Sam and the kids helped Jessica pick out some flowers for the garden then loaded up the car to drive to a park near the water. Jessica brought snacks and sandwiches for a small lunch.

Everyone was having a good time. Jessica and the kids were in good spirits, Sam enjoyed being out of the house, and it was the perfect day out.

"Scarlett, here is your turkey and cheese, Wyatt, ham and cheese and little Jack got just turkey!" Jessica says passing out the sandwiches.

"Thank you mommy!" Scarlett smiles

"You're welcome sweetie... and for Sam and I, BLT's." Jessica says

"Yum!" Sam chuckles

"0h, and Sam your one 0'clock pill." She says handing him the bottle of pills

"I'm gonna skip that today." Sam says

Jessica pauses then gives Sam a look. "No, you can't skip your pills." She pleas

"Jess, it makes me really sick. I don't want to ruin your day." He whispers

"You're not going to ruin my day. I'd rather you take the pill that's suppose to help instead of skip it for me." She hisses

"Mommy, can I play?" Wyatt says with sad eyes

"I want three more bites." Jessica smiles. From the corner of her eye she could see Sam swallow the pill.

By two they packed up everything from the park and planned to head home and relax before dinner. They had to walk up a small hill to get back to the car. Sam and Jessica were carrying most of the things up the hill while the kids ran to the car. Sam was also carrying Jack on his chest as they climbed the hill.

As they walk up the hill Jessica turns to Sam and sees that he is breathing heavily, turning pale, and moving extra slow.

"Sam? Are you okay?" She says

"Yeah, I'm fine." He says breathlessly

"Let me carry it." She says reaching for the stuff in his hands

"No, stop. You're pregnant and this is a big hill. I'm okay." He hisses

Jessica brushes it off and they keep walking. As the twins anxiously wait by the car, pulling on the handles, Jessica picked up her pace.

"What have I told you about pulling the handles like that?" Jessica says with a giggle

"Mommy!" Wyatt yells

"What honey?"

"Mommy 911! 911!" Scarlett screams

"Honey, someone is probably getting pulled over!" She says to the twins who were hysterical.

Then, from a distance, Jessica hears a loud scream. She knew the scream like no other. She quickly turned around and saw Sam on the ground with Jack screaming for help.

Then, panic sets in. Jessica drops everything in her hands and reaches for her phone.

"Scarlett, Wyatt, mommy needs you to be good and sit in the car. Don't go anywhere please."

"Mommy!" Scarlett cries as Jessica runs down to the hill as she is dialing 911

"911, what's your emergency?"

"My husband, he fell in Deer park. He isn't responding." Jessica cries as she holds the phone with her shoulder and tries her best to unbuckle Jack who was screaming.

Jessica looks down and sees blood all over Jack and his clothes. She cries even harder.

"He had the baby on his chest. He's bleeding."

"Alright ma'am, we have your location and heading your way."

"Please, hurry. My husband he has cancer and... he doesn't look well."

"Responders are a mile out."

Jessica hangs up with tears in her eyes. As she holds Jack who was bleeding all over, she grabs Sam's hand and tries to get him to wake up.

"Sam! Sam!" She cries

She takes a quick glance back at the car then back at Sam.

She holds Jack's head with her hand with her other hand wrapped around his shaking body. She cries harder and harder as she tries to get Sam up.

She could hear the ambulance coming which gave her hope.

She quickly checked his pulse. She let out a sigh of relief then saw three men in uniform racing down the hill.

"This is my husband. He still has a pulse but he isn't waking up. We were walking up the hill and I caught up the kids. But I asked if he was okay. I should have taken everything..." Jessica rambles

As Jessica talks to the one EMT, another one comes up and takes the baby. Jessica was covered in blood.

"My son. He's fourteen months. My husband was carrying him in this chest... Please tell me he's okay. Please tell me my husband is okay!" She cries

"Ma'am, we are going to take your husband and your baby to the hospital two miles away. You can join us if you'd like to ride along with them." He says

"I can't, my two other children are up there. Oh god are they okay?" She cries

Both her and the EMT look up and see an officer talking to them.

The cop gives them a thumbs up.

"I will meet you there. I have to call family and..." then she stops as she feels a shooting pain in her stomach

"Ma'am, are you alright?" He says reaching for her

Jessica hisses in pain and then looks back up at the man.

"I'm alright." She says

Within a few minutes the ambulance takes Jack and Sam away. Jessica gets in the car with tears rolling down her face. The kids were buckled and silent. They knew their mom was scared and they were too.

Jessica tries to find her phone to call her family. Her heart was racing. She couldn't stop thinking about the pain she had earlier. She was even more worried.

As soon as Jessica gets to the hospital she sees her mom and dad standing there waiting.

She runs into her parents arms and cries. Scarlett and Wyatt hold their mom too.

"Honey... are you okay?"

"I'm fine. But I have to find out where Jack and Sam are. Damn it. I have to call Danny!" She panics

"You go find them. We will call Danny."

"Mommy." Scarlett cries as Jessica starts to walk off

"Sweetie?" She says

"Is Sam and Jackie okay?" She cries

"They are going to be just fine." She says

".... you guys did so good today. Thank you for being so brave." Jessica says giving them a hug

"I love you mommy." Wyatt whispers

"I love you both too. I'm going to go check on them now. Okay? Grandma is calling daddy and he will be here right away." Jessica struggles to say

She gives the twins one last hug before she runs off.
