16.

He had to, right? Feelings made him weak. An Alpha like him couldn't have feelings. Not for her.

"As you may know, the Sensus pack has this thing called the Ceremony, where the seer decides in which quarter of the Pack you belong. Afterwards, there is the possibility to meet your mate. I met the Alpha there, and I felt directly I was his mate." I sighed at the memory. I was ecstatic when I found out het would be mine, but he broke my heart in a million pieces right after. "Directly after we met, he sent me away with a maid to a certain room in the castle far away from his, where I stayed for four days. I was so extremely sad I didn't leave that room at all," I coughed shortly before resuming my monologue, my fingers intertwining as I looked in front of me, but not really seeing anything. "After four days I stopped pitying myself, and started searching for my mate. I did find him in the end, but I fainted as soon as I got close to him. I think he was somewhat worried, because he did call a doctor, but he was still so, so cold."
"Why did you faint?" Lottie asked quietly, her face implying she already knew.
"It turns out I suffer from the mate-loss syndrome, even though my mate is obviously still alive."
Livia gasped out loud, while Varya just frowned. "That truly is horrible... How are you feeling now?" asked Lottie.
"Well," I said, not really sure what I would say. "I think it did get better after I was diagnosed. I get horrible episodes of being in a tremendous amount of pain, but he usually is close to guide me through it. This morning he hugged me shortly to reduce the risk of getting another episode now, but most of the time he is still as cold as ice."
It was quiet for some time, and I took that time to take in the room a little better. Without me or any of the girls talking, I could hear music in the background. I thought it was some kind of pop-music, but I didn't recognize it. The entire room smelled like lavender, even though the scents of the other Luna's were woven through it. It was calming really, the softly crackling fire in the hearth, music, the smell and the quiet breathing of the girls who were thinking deeply.
"I think I may know how to help you," Livia said, the look in her eyes mischievous. "It always works with Vir, even though he's probably more innocent than Alpha Aericon."
My interest was spiked immediately. "Tell me," I demanded with a smile.
"Well, jealousy is a trait of every single one of the Alpha's, and it's a trait that we Luna's can set to our hands. All you need to do is dress a bit improperly and then flirt with some other men," she explained.
"Ooohh," Varya whispered. "I like the sound of that very much. We can help you dress, and make a plan, right?"
"Of course," Livia and Lottie said in sync. "I'm the expert after all, you'll need my help for the flirting, you'll need Lottie's to look absolutely dashing, and you'll need Varya's for the plan."
It was quiet for a while, but then Lottie's eyes started shining. "Oh my god," she said. "I just have the most amazing idea. But it does require the help of Yves."
I massaged my temples. "Alright spill it, now." We hadn't even started planning anything yet and I was already nervous. What if he got angry with me, or liked me even less? What if he would punish me for his actions?
"I will ask Yves via mindlink if he wants to play along with us. Tonight, after the meeting, all the Alpha's and Luna's have dinner and a drink together. The entire night, you'll flirt with Yves, he'll probably say something flirty back to you. Maybe he'll even rub some of his scent on you, which will drive your mate insane. He might pretend he doesn't care, but believe me he will. Once it get's too much, he'll claim you as his, which will boost the mate bond."
I must admit, it was a clever plan. But I just wasn't completely sure.
"I don't know," I said, my voice full of doubt. "I love him so much, I don't know if I can hurt him like this." Because that was what I would do, hurt him.
"He has hurt you too, right?" Lottie asked, quietly, her own face sad like mine. "By ignoring you, he deeply hurt your feelings. He has to know he can't do that, not like this."

In the end we chose to go through with the plan. While Lottie talked to her mate through mindlink, trying to get him to agree with us, Lottie and Varya helped me getting dressed.
"It's the smartest if we all dress up," Varya softly petted one of the dark green dresses in the closet. "That way you won't stand out, but you will to your mate, mostly if you dress a bit more daring than us."
Livia agreed, and started straightening her own hair after she curled mine. "I know that my mate prefers my hair loose, not in a bun, because my scent will be heavier that way. I presume that is the same with you, so I just curled it a bit," she explained while Varya chose the dresses for all of us. Lottie would wear a cute turquoise one, Livia would go in black, Varya in the dark green dress she loved so much and for me she had chosen a bright red dress with a lot of showing cleavage. It was a bit too small, as it hugged my curves – not that I had any – a bit too tight, but it would have to do. I felt vulnerable with so much skin showing, but it was beautiful all the same.
"I think you look gorgeous, darling," Varya tried to reassure me when I tried to pull the dress up for the umpteenth time. "You have a beautiful body, don't be afraid to show it. I know for a fact that Yves will love it, he loves every body of every female on earth," she added. "Sorry, Lottie."
Lottie sighed but smiled anyway. "Never mind, it's true after all. Just," she looked at me with a hint of pain in her eyes. "just try to not make it too bad, okay? He still is Yves. Even though he knows the entire plan, he will try to get you in his bed if you don't watch out."
I nodded as an answer. Seducing another Alpha, was this the right call? I couldn't help but feel bad already. I loved my mate, deeply and truly. Besides Aericon already showed he did care about me to some extent. Wouldn't I throw that all away now?
