Barry woke up on a bed expecting to hear the matron shouting, or Dave trying to pour urine in his ear but it was rather peaceful. It was then he remembered.

'I've been adopted.' Barry thought to himself feeling happy but a part of him told him to be careful.

Barry got out of his bed then took a bath, then he checked the time. On finding out that the time is 6:45, he remembered something.

            MEMORY

"So you wanted to find out the meaning of this mark hun?" Sama asked

"Yes." Barry, Beryl and Luke answered eagerly.

"Then come here before seven o'clock or I'll hit you with a fireball." Sama warned.

"So by fireball, do you mean a real fireball or it's just an expression you use?" Luke asked.

"Just come after seven o'clock and see." Was all Sama told Luke.

      MEMORY END

Remembering that, Barry changed into something else quickly and then ran to the parlour. Seeing the long flight of stairs that awaited him, he just slid down the railings and jumped down then he ran and got to the parlour at exactly 6:59.

When he got there Beryl was waiting for me and Luke was no where to be found.

"Where is Luke?" Beryl asked him in a whisper.

"I don't know." Barry whispered back.

"Why are we whispering?" Beryl whispered to him.

"I don't know. By the way where is mum?" Barry asked, trying to change the topic.

"Mrs Sama said she'll be down here by seven." Beryl answered.

"Guys." Luke shouted from behind but he was two minutes late.

As Luke was running down the stairs a fireball missed him by some feet.

They all turned their attention to where the fireball came from only to see Sama coming towards them.

Sama saw the children look towards her direction so she grabbed their attention by saying, "Dang, I missed."

"W-what d-d-do you mean by 'I-I missed'?" Luke asked her with his voice shaking.

"What it means is that I shot that fireball." Sama said then made her hand catch fire as proof.

Their jaws lost its hinges as they saw the fire on her hand.

"Woah is this real." Barry said as he tried to touch the fire.

"I'd advice you not to do that." Sama cautioned Barry

"Why?" Barry asked.

"Touch it and see." Beryl answered in Sama's stead.

"Anyway you said according to your information anyone with the mark has some powers, right?" Sama asked trying to change the topic and prevent Barry from touching the fire.

'But putting it away will be better, right?' A female voice in Sama's head told her.

'Yeah I never thought of that.' Sama replied the voice in her head.

A sound was heard as Sama put out the flames.

"Aww come on." Barry whined to him self.

"Barry focus." Beryl yelled at him.

'But Luke hasn't spoken since.' Sama thought to her self.

"Sama you can't possibly be thinking about that, can you?" The voice spoke again.

'Natasha come on, I have every right to think about that. By the way, why are you in such a good mood?' Sama replied the voice now named Natasha.

"I don't know, but all I know is that the kids think you are crazy." Natasha pointed out. It was then Sama realised she was in front of the kids who didn't know a thing about what was going on.

"Anyway, I commend you for getting that much information so let me start explaining." Sama stated using that as an excuse to avoid their questioning stares and up coming questions.

(A/N. If you're wondering who Sama was talking to, or who Natasha was, well Natasha is Sama's scroll spirit.)

"So is our info correct?" Luke finally brought himself to ask because the fireball left him very petrified.

"Of course, why do you think I have powers?" Sama answered.

"So what are your powers?" Luke asked suddenly feeling curious.

After Luke asked that question a smile tugged up her lips.

Sama went on all fours as a greenish like substance filled the atmosphere then fur grew on Sama's skin, by fur I meant fox fur then she grew mystical ears and a tail.

"Woah." Luke commented.

"Took the words right out of my mouth." Barry breathed.

While Beryl kept the cool facade, deep down she was struck with awe.

"Wait how did your arms and leg become the same size?" Beryl asked voicing out her curiosity.

"I don't know." Sama answered looking as if she never thought of it.

'Has she? No it doesn't look like it, but what if she has, well no use thinking about it any way.' Beryl thought to herself.

"But how did you get this power?" Barry asked.

"Through my scroll." Mrs Sama replied.

"Scrolls?" The three asked in unison which kinda surprised Beryl because she thought she was the only one who was confused.

"What were you expecting, a magic amulet?" Sama asked rhetorically with a laugh as she rebounded from her fox like state.

"Yeah something like that." Luke said.

"Well, I thought you have to drink blood from an earthen dish, or do an ancient ritu-" Barry was cut short by Beryl's yell.

"Ha! I knew it, Barry will never say something sensible!" Beryl commented on Barry's thoughts.

"Hey it was just my thought because of that movie I watched with Dave at the orphanage!" Barry said trying to defend him self.

"Movies. Too much of them is bad for your health ya know." Beryl said plainly with no emotions on her face.

As Barry was about to give a nasty comeback, Luke's hand gripped his shoulder then Luke whispered something in Barry's ear.

As soon as Barry heard what Luke said finish fear gripped him as he gave what Luke said a thought.

"Just a little more push." Luke thought to himself with a giggle then he whispered the last part into Barry's ear. After Barry heard that part he started sweating.

"What did you tell him Luke?" Beryl asked Luke but the latter just smiled and told her.

"You don't want to know." Luke said with a smile.

'Tch, Barry is so easy to scare. Just a few words and he is already sweating due to fear. I should really be doing stuff like this to him.' Luke thought to himself while smiling mischievously.

"Enough goofing around!" Sama yelled which made the three quiet.

"As you know, any one who has the mark have powers and all those with the powers are called Scroll users." Sama stated then she zoomed off to get a projector and her laptop.

"So there's tech in this place." Barry stated.

"Why do you say so?" Sama asked.

"You know in all these fantasy stories they don't have tech because of their powers." Barry stated his reason.

"Well we have tech, now focus." Sama said without looking at Barry then she switched on the laptop and projector.

"Ok!" Barry yelled as he paid more attention.

"Good, now scroll users have a green substance in us called Kekai. It is what enables us to do techniques. Take my fire manipulation for an example. I mold my kekai into the shape and size I want it then convert it to fire." Sama said as she continued the class.

"Can you show us a demonstration?" Luke asked Sama.

"Yes of course." Sama said then a gas which was forest green formed a circle around them and the green substance turned into fire.

"The forest green substance is called kekai." Sama informed.

"Question." Beryl said while raising up her hand.

"Go on." Sama nodded, like any teacher will say to their students.

"This 'kekai', is it infinite?" Beryl asked.

"No. It's just very plenty, but we can not use it all because using kekai is exhausting so if you over exert your energy limit you'll collapse from exhaustion and you might probably die. And besides, your body would break down if the amount is too much and strong for you." Sama explained.

"Question!" This time it was Barry who raised his hand.

"Go on." Same told Barry who wasted no time in asking his question.

"How do we know how much kekai is enough for our body?" Barry asked

"Good question. We know how much kekai is enough for our bodies through our scroll spirits." Sama answered Barry's question then moved on to the next topic because Barry will most likely ask another question.

"Scroll spirits are spirits that tell us how much kekai we have left, what element we are and what type of scrolls we have. The end." Sama concluded the class but was disturbed by Natasha.

"Hey, is that all you'll say about scroll spirits?" Natasha asked.

'Don't bug me Natasha, and besides, they're going to get admitted into the scroll acad next month.' Sama replied her scroll spirit.

"Stop saying acad." Her scroll spirit scolded her then cut her off.

After the class, Sama told them about SUA (Scroll User Academy) and their adoption and admission forms then they went shopping for school materials.

"I never knew this place had a supermarket." Barry stated in awe.

"There are plenty things you don't know about right?" Sama asked Barry

"Yeah." Barry answered subconsciously.

Don't blame him, Barry has been stuck within the same four walls of the orphanage so he doesn't know much.

"Psst Barry." Barry heard Luke call him.

"What?" Barry asked Luke as he walked towards him.

When he got to Luke's side, he saw what Luke was talking about. They were plastic scorpions, but the thing about these scorpions was that they looked so real, if one didn't see the casing the person would almost think they were real.

"I see." Barry said with a giggle realising Luke's plan.

   Plan prank Beryl

Step 1: purchase the item. Done.
Step 2: sneak up on Beryl. Done.
Step 3: drop the scorpion on her shoulder and run without her noticing. Done
Step 4: reveal your self and laugh.

But there was a twist in their plan.

As Luke snuck up on Beryl and was about to drop the real looking plastic scorpion on her, the tile in front of him became supper slippery causing him to slip and fall which was not a nice experience.

Plan failed. Move on to plan B.

Each time they got close to Beryl, something happened that made them unsuccessful. When they (finally) successfully dropped the item on her body...

"What's this? Scram." Beryl said as if she didn't even see the stuff then brushed it off her cloth.

"So that means our plan was a waste." Luke said in total disappointment.

"Yeah." Barry said in agreement while thinking about the waste of time, money and effort.

"Barry, Luke you'll be left behind, come over here." Beryl called out to Barry and Luke.

As the two unsuspecting boys were going to meet Beryl, they both stepped on a tiny poodle of oil that Beryl had put there earlier and slipped and fell.

"Ha! That's for trying to prank me!" Beryl yelled in triumph and blew a raspberry at them before running away.

"Luke." Barry called out.

"Barry." Luke answered.

"All this time she knew and we thought we were going undercover." Barry said as he voiced out his thoughts.

"Totally." Luke agreed as he hoisted Barry to his feet and walked home because the supermarket was not far from home. Beryl had told mum that they could handle themselves so she had left them because she was busy.

'Man she's wicked.' Barry thought as he walked home.
