After some information gathering, they found out that if anyone possesses the mark on their wrist they have supernatural powers which explained the fireball and the bandits chunking 5 kg goods into a 50g scroll and carry it.

"It's dusk already." Barry said having a hint of tiredness in his voice but the enthusiasm didn't weaver.

"Where do we stay for the night?" Beryl asked voicing out her worries because an inn was too expensive for them to afford.

After Beryl asked that question Luke realised where she was going to. "Then we stay in there." He said pointing to a cottage.

"But-" Barry started but Luke cut him off.

"Or you have any better idea." Luke said to stop his complaints.

They finally decided to stay in the cottage after series of persuasion and false threats cause Barry was being stubborn.

"Goodnight." Luke said as he drifted into sleep.

White light flooded Barry's eyes which made him shut his eyes instinctively then slowly opened them so that he could get used to the it. Without thinking of anything else, Barry turned to look for Beryl and Luke but didn't find them anywhere.

"Beryl! Luke!" Barry yelled their names but got no reply so he looked around, taking in his surroundings.

It turned out that he was in a white room that had stains of electric blue on the walls and the bed he was on was plain electric blue. The room was cool but but he had no time to be admiring stuff, Beryl and Luke might be in danger.

He brought out his gun, yes yes he had a gun. He got it on his ten year old birthday when an anonymous package was sent to me saying;

Bartholomew, your parents left it for you, use it well.

But why his parents left a gun for him and who the sender was, he didn't know that led to him to look for his parents.

'Dang I'm wasting time.' Barry thought to himself as he walked towards the door.a

He turned the knob slowly and carefully so as not to make noise but something was off, the door was open.

'Maybe this is a trap.' He thought getting ready to fire, but the place was surprisingly empty.

'In conditions like this, always watch your step.' Barry thought to himself suddenly remembering an horror movie he watched with Dave who was trying to make him chicken him out then mock him with it.

After walking around for a while he finally saw someone, a woman.

'Was she the woman who carried them into the house because I was awake pretending to be asleep.' Barry thought to himself.

"So you're finally awake." The woman said without turning to look at him.

Beryl woke up in a room which was white with streaks of red and a plain red bed. She then looked around as memories of the previous day replayed in her brain.

MEMORY

After Barry and Luke slept Beryl couldn't sleep so she went to scout the area.

When she was scouting she saw two figures, a man and a woman, heading towards where they were so she ran despite the cold.

"Dave look at them they are so cute." The heard the woman said, drawing the mans attention.

"Sama look the girl is awake." The man told the woman as he noticed Beryl.

"Hi little girl." The woman said to her but she was too cold to answer.

"At this rate they'll freeze. Girl please follow me while me and my husband will carry your friends." The woman said. Beryl thought about it for a moment then then she stood up and followed her.

"Good." The woman said with a smile then she led Beryl too a house which she couldn't make out the features because of the mist, after they got inside the woman showed Beryl Barry's room and Luke's room.

But something was off because Barry was a light sleeper yet he didn't wake up.

MEMORY'S OVER

And here she was looking for Luke since his room was the closest and Barry wasn't in his room. After a short while, Beryl found Luke's room but he was still sleeping.

"Luke! Luke!" Beryl whisper yelled.

After many trials she finally woke him up. Luke woke up seeing an angry Beryl. "Beryl what's wrong?" He asked groggil but got no reply. "Ok then, where are we?" Luke asked again and this time he got a reply.

"I'll explain." Beryl said as she came into the room and sat down on a chair.

After the long story Beryl told Luke, he came down from the bed and took a shower in the bathroom then then changed his clothes.

"Hey! Don't just be care free like that." Luke heard her yell and scold but that wasn't what was on his mind.

'That Barry, he must've do something rash, I trust him, for Beryl to say she didn't see him in his room. If things go the way I think it's going we're in trouble, big trouble and I'm not taking any chances.' Luke thought to him self as he changed his clothes. (A/N. If you get the reference you deserve an award.)

Barry put his gun inside inside his pocket then proceeded to ask the woman some questions. "Who are you and what have you done to my friends?" He asked the woman, who just smiled and continued what she was doing.

"Your friends are safe." Was all she said as she continued what she was doing.

As Barry was about to ask for his friends' location, he heard a yell behind him.

"Bartholomew!" Barry turned to see who yelled only to find Beryl running towards him.

"Sorry for his behaviour Mrs Sama." Beryl apologized to the woman in Barry's stead which left him confused.

"Beryl why are you apologizing." The dark haired boy asked in total confusion.

"Bartholomew, you used that gun." Beryl yelled at Barry as she pulled out the item from his pocket.

"Wait I- " Barry said trying to defend himself but was cut short by Luke.

"Barry you tried to shoot an innocent old lady." Luke said accusingly as he approached Barry.

Before they could say anything else the lady was already with the gun.

'How did she-' Before Barry could even begin to reason, she shot the gun at a nearby vase which made the three of them quiet.

The woman walked towards the now broken vase and took the bullet but immediately she carried it, she dropped it back as if she just touched a hot substance. "Barry where did you get this?" She asked.

Barry explained how he got the gun to her then she gave him back. "I see keep it well, that gun is no ordinary gun." She advised him.

"Beryl did you tell him?" The woman asked Beryl which left Barry in utmost confusion.

"Wait, what?" Barry asked, face scrunched up in cluelessness. Beryl rolled her eyes and whispered something in his hear. "Seriously... Ok... Ok... Is that so?" Barry asked Beryl who nodded to show it's true. "I'm really sorry for my actions." Barry apologized feeling embarrassed.

"It's ok, have you taken a bath?" The woman asked the three.

"No." Barry and Beryl answered.

"Yes." After Luke said the 'yes' Barry turned to look at him.

"Good go take a bath." The woman ordered.

After Beryl took a bath she went downstairs.

"You're late Beryl." Luke half yelled.

Beryl ignored his yell and went to take a seat then Mrs Sama entered.

"I know this might sound sudden but, do you three want to get adopted by me?" Mrs Sama asked.

Barry and Luke's mouth were out of its hinges.

"Could you please wait us think about it?" Luke asked.

"Ok." Mrs Sama stood up to give them time to decide.

"Guys can we trust her?" Barry asked sounding serious.

"Well she had three opportunities to kill us but she didn't." Luke said while thinking back.

"No." Beryl stated firmly.

"Why?" The two boys asked in unison.

"When I was nine before coming to the orphanage, I met a man. He raised me and took me to school, I thought I was really lucky until one day he knocked me out and when I woke up I was being sold to slavery but then I escaped and I ran until I saw the orphanage." Beryl told them halfway because really didn't want to talk about it so she just kept quiet after telling her story.

"So that's what happened." Barry whispered out loud. "But don't worry we'll be here for you." He said trying to comfort the red haired girl.

"But what if the same happened to all of us?!" Beryl challenged them.

"Beryl relax, nothing gonna happen. And besides she had three opportunities to kill us but we're alive." Luke reassured Beryl while backing it up with facts.

"So what do you say?" Barry asked Beryl.

"No. What if she has other plans?" Beryl challenged them with another fact.

"Beryl, nothing is going to happen." Luke reassured firmly.

So after series of arguments and facts, they finally convinced Beryl into getting adopted.

After a while, Sama came back and asked again. "So yes or no." She asked with high hopes for a yes but the possibility is next to none.

"Yes." The three chorused which made Sama smile within herself at the sound of a yes.

"Then it is settled. Are you vegetarians?" Sama asked them.

"No way." Luke answered for the three.

" Good. I'll explain some stuff later." She told them as she went to get bacon and eggs.

'But we can't trust her completely so I'll be careful.' Barry thought within himself.
