Chp 4
The reflex of needing to swallow woke Stefan as his mouth filled with the familiar taste of bagged blood. He slowly felt his body relax as it filled out from endless torture of desiccation. It was after his fifth bag of blood, Stefan was able to sit up and look around. He saw his brother, Damon, sitting up in his own coffin next to him finishing off a blood bag as well. Stefan looked to the young man handing him another blood bag and asked with a raspy voice from centuries of disuse, "How long?"
David jumped back from the vampire he was feeding before clearing his throat, "It's May 17, 2263. Father Cornelius had me wake you both while he prepared your rooms across the hall." By this point Damon had jumped out of his custom made coffin with his initials engraved on the top half, "Klaus spared no expense, did he?" Stefan was standing now as well, "No he did not." He sighed at the thought of his old friend. Not sure if he should feel betrayed or not. Damon shook his head, "Come on little brother, let's see what the future holds." He patted his brother on the back as he passed by and exited the room.
The brothers found their rooms across the hall had their own ensuite. Thankfully they were designed in a way that was familiar to the times the Salvatores came from. After their showers and clean, new clothes, and sorting through everything that followed them into the future, they ventured into the main room. Damon asked Stefan, "Do you have your journals?" Stefan nodded, "Klaus had them digitized into an e-reader. Probably got a good laugh out of them." It would be much later that Stefan learned Elijah was the one who took care of his journals. No laughing was involved.
Damon snorted, "I have all the heirloom jewelry. Even a few daylight rings. Considering we have a witch right here." Stefan did a double take, "Who?" Damon nudged his head towards the young priest, "David." Stefan shook his head, "You always were sensitive around magic." "And I memorized the spell." Damon smirked.
Reaching the main room, Damon went straight for the drink cart he spotted. Father Cornelius was not shy about having a drink now and again. So, having Bourbon in the house was not unheard of. Stefan was paying attention to the girl at the table eating the large helping of chicken while surfing the web it seems. He asked Father Cornelius, "Who is she?" Father sighed tiredly, "That is Leeloo Minai Lekarariba-Lamminai-Tchai Ekbat De Sebat, or Leeloo for short. She is known as the supreme being and the reason you two are awake." Stefan nodded.
Stefan watches as Leeloo got up and dumped the bones of the chicken roast in the trash. Then she poured some dehydrated cubes onto her large plate, and put it into what looked like a microwave oven for about ten seconds. All while smiling, and saying "Chicken." When it dinged. Both vampires were amazed and amused as Leeloo pulled out a new and heavy chicken roast, complete with vegetables. Damon rolled his eyes at his brother and went to look at the machine and dehydrated cubes before sitting back down with a refilled glass. Stefan couldn't help but think how adorable she was.
Setting down his glass, Damon asked, "What is she doing?" It was Leeloo who answered in her language and Father Cornelius interpreted, "She has spent the last five thousand in stasis..her body was destroyed and reconstructed...so she is relearning everything." Damon rolled his eyes...again at the look his little brother was giving Leeloo. It was the same look he gave Elena when he thought she was an innocent human girl. Damon did catch a faint scent of another woman that was there earlier and wondered who she was, and also alerted him to his hunger which he told the priest.
Father Cornelius told them, "There are over 2,500 people in this building alone. The lower floors are for the lower class and less likely to be noticed if they are missing." The priest was skimming through the ancient tome written by his priesthood, detailing the history of the vampires. Something he figured the Salvatore brothers would want to read eventually. He would give them the cliff notes though.
It was then Damon and Stefan stood up, looked out the window and saw how massive and crowded the city was. Stefan asked, "Where are we?"
Father Cornelius sighed heavily and carefully closed the tome, "New York. Population 3.8billion. You two are the only vampires left in existence. After you were put in stasis, a war broke out between the originals and their first sired and they were all killed. Sadly Hope Mikaelson lived to the age of seven before she was murdered by a cult of witches threatened by her existence. Our priesthood documented everything for when you woke up if you want to read it." He left them to their thoughts, ignoring the glistening of their eyes of unshed tears. Hope, the little girl they helped raise was gone. It was yesterday for them that they last saw her. Freya did something to the daggers, because they didn't feel pain or the passage of time but still desiccated.
Damon set his glass down harshly, put on his vintage leather jacket, "I'm going to go feed." Stefan grabbed his own leather jacket, "Right behind you brother." Over the next two hours, Damon and Stefan gorged themselves on the worst of the worst on the lower levels. Those that won't be missed. Learning that some alien blood can cause hallucinations which can be fun at times. Other alien blood spiked their energy levels through the roof that had them bouncing off the walls, quite literally. Once they made it back to the apartment, they were both a little blood drunk, calmer, and very bloody. They both got cleaned up, and took a short nap before Father Cornelius had asked one of them to accompany him somewhere.
Zorg Industries. The lead manufacturer of weapons and household gadgets of Earth. The heartless CEO, Jean-Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg, had ordered his Left Arm(One of his workers) to fire one million employees in response to potential trouble with the economy. Even though 500,000 would have been enough. This was moments before Zorg held a shady deal for newly developed, costly firearms in exchange for elemental stones' case retrieved for the wreckage of the Mondoshawans.
The Mangalores that were hired for the job set down the case on top of one of the crates after a demonstration of the weapons they were getting. Zorg opened it to find it empty. He slammed it shut, cancelled the deal, but left one crate after being threatened. Zorg smirked as he explained to his Left Arm about how real 'killers' would have asked for every detail about the gun. Which was followed by an explosion that severely injured and killed several of the dimwitted Mangalores.
Across the city in her apartment, Korben Dallas was getting back to a mewling cat and her empty food bowl, "I'm sorry sweetheart. How about we order Thai?" Her phone rang, "Yes?" "You were supposed to bring the cab in two hours ago. Where are you?" Finger's voice came through the receiver. "It doesn't need it," Korben tries to weasel out of it. "Bullshit. I know how you drive. Plus it's overdue for an overhaul. Bring it in." Finger didn't give her a chance to argue before he hung up. She sighed as she cleared the call log to order the Thai food.
As she was eating and chatting with Mr. Chan, a notice came down the mail shoot. Mr. Chan pointed it out, "You going to get that? It could be good news." Korben was trying to ignore it, "Last time I got a notice like that it was from my ex saying he was leaving me. Then I got another one from my lawyer saying he was leaving with my ex." "Tough luck. Maybe this is different," Mr. Chan waved his hand towards it. Korben sighed, "I doubt it." Mr. Chan smiled, "How about this? If it is good, that's good. If it's bad, I'll cover lunch." Korben looked at Chan before nodding, "Alright."
She took the notice out of the shoot and handed it to Chan, who opened it and read out loud, "You are fired!...Oh. I'm sorry." Korben sighed and threw her napkin down and took the notice back, "At least I got a free lunch." Mr Chan gathered the dishes and released his anchor, "Good philosophy." Mr. Chan started to sing an old Thai song as he flew away in his floating restaurant. Korben closed her blinds and window as her phone started ringing. She rolled her eyes when she saw it was her mother, "Yes, ma." Her mother's snide voice could be heard, "Korben darling, how could you not tell your own mother you won that contest?"
Korben was confused, "What contest?" She didn't enter any contest. And the only notice she got was her being fired. Her mother continued, "Oh, don't play dumb with me young lady. It's all over the radio. You won the Gemini Croquettes contest for a trip to Fholston Paradise. And you didn't even have the decency to call your own mother." Korben was only half listening by this point because someone just knocked on her door, "I gotta go, ma."
Korben looked at her monitor for her door cam and saw soldiers, and cringed. Her old commander was standing outside her door. Korben grew suspicious. She opened it and let them in, "General Munro. What do I owe the pleasure of this visit?" General Munro smirked, "Major Dallas. I'm here on behalf of the Federated Army with your orders. You've been re-activated for a special mission to Fholston Paradise. It is of utmost importance you accept." Korben grew agitated with every word, "I'm retired." General Munro only smiled bigger, "Should've read the fine print."
The sound of a notice coming down the mail shoot cut through the small apartment. They all knew what it was. General Munro pointed to it, "You should get that." Korben just glared at the General, so he moved to grab it. Opening it to reveal the contest winnings and two tickets to Fholston Paradise. "It seems you won a trip," General Munro shoved the tickets at Korben. "You rigged the contest," Korben gritted through her teeth. Munro didn't even deny it, "And you will be taking Ensen here." A young Captain stepped up and saluted. Korben shook her head, "No. He looks like he's fresh out of MEPS. If I do this I will go alone." Munro tried to argue, "But Major..." One look from the angry woman shut him up and they left.
When Zorg got back to his office he held a meeting with Father Cornelius, who did not show up alone. Stefan had gone with him as back up. Not trusting the man alone with the priest. Zorg had explained how he was involved with Mr. Shadow(Evil) without truly saying he was involved. Stefan and Cornelius watched as Zorg demonstrated how destruction is needed for humans to prosper because the world is overwhelmingly populated. Stefan smirked at the thought of him and his brother feeding earlier and leaving none alive. Before he proceeded to choke on a cherry that Cornelius dislodged with a slap on the back after getting his own point across. Stefan stood by ready and waiting to jump in and help if he needed to, but it was unnecessary.
While they were gone, Damon had confronted David about being a witch, "How long have you known about your magic?" David was nervous so Damon told him, "I'm not going to say anything to anyone. Us supernaturals need to stick together. So, how long?" David swallowed the lump in his throat, "Since I was four. Father Cornelius does know. It was why I joined his priesthood. My family and I figured they'd be more understanding of my magic. My mom gave up her magic years ago." Damon nodded, "I have a few spells memorized. One of which will be quite valuable soon." He brought one of the daylight rings out of his pocket. One meant for a woman. He knew he was being presumptuous, but the scent of the woman lingering in the apartment has him in a daze almost as bad as Leeloo does for Stefan.
Speaking of Stefan. They had made a detour before going back to the apartment to steal the tickets from Korben, and have Leeloo, Stefan, and Damon take Korben's place with one of the vampires compelling their way on board the ship. Stefan was against it, but didn't stop Cornelius from knocking Korben out with one of her own awards and stealing the tickets. This was after Stefan had taken the little name plate off her door to show Damon since he recognized the scent.
Damon was not happy with Cornelius when they returned. Damon almost killed the priest. Stefan had to drag his brother out of the apartment and the lower levels where they fed on several humans and aliens for a second time, before calming down enough to go back. David was the one to let them back in. Damon rolled his eyes, "Don't worry. They're all alive. Just a little whoozy." Stefan snorted, "That's an understatement. But, yes. Nobody died this time." Stefan and Damon went to get cleaned up and plan the trip, not realizing Korben was going to take her spot back.
AN: Next chapter will be Korben meeting the Salvatores, the flight, interview, and getting to Fholston Paradise. Zorg is more of a side character in this. And yes, our vampires are falling fast and hard.
