Chapter 4

Desmond's POV

"Desmond, we have to take the assassins to get... modern clothes," Lucy says. I look at my ancestors and nod.

"We might as well..." I say. "We had to do it eventually."

"Ezio, Altaïr, Connor and Edward," I call. They all look up at me.

"Come on, we have to go get you some new clothes so you fit in," I say.

"But I like my hood..." Altaïr mutters.

"Just come on," I say.

They follow me outside and I'm about to open the door to my car when all the Assassins freeze.

"What?" I ask.

"What is that thing?" whispers Ezio, pointing to the car.

That's right, they haven't been outside the office building since they got here.

"This is a car..." I say. "You have to get inside it, and it takes you places."

"So it's like a boat without water?" Edward asks.

"Yeah. Come on," I say. They reluctantly walk towards the car and Ezio, Altaïr and Edward get in, but Connor won't.

"Connor, get in the car," I say.

"No, it's going to eat me," he says.

"It won't eat you! Just get in the car!" I say. He sighs and gets into the car.

When we finally start driving, Edward keeps wanting to be the "captain" of the car.

"I can steer this metal non-ship!" he says.

"You need a drivers license," I say.

"I can drive!" he demands.

"No you can't."

"There are so many metal boats..." Altaïr mutters as he stares out the window.

When we finally arrive at the store, I lead the assassins inside. The lady behind the counter stares at us and I smile apologetically.

"They're not from around here..." I say quietly. She nods and continues whatever she was doing.

"What are those devices!?" Ezio stammers, pointing to a phone in a man's hand.

"It's a phone. People use them to talk to people who are far away or play games," I explain.

"What kind of game? Like soccer? I've seen the small children playing those games," Edward says.

"No, like video games.  Fruit Ninja and Cut the Rope and stuff like that," I say, looking through a rack of sweaters.

Ezio stays quiet while I continue looking for clothes for them.

I find a black sweater with a skull and crossbones and hand it to Edward.

"Here, try this on."

I find clothes for all the assassins and make them try them on.  It was relatively easy, except for the part where I had to get Altaïr to take his hood off.

When they come out, they're all wearing jeans, t-shirts and hoodies.  Edward is still wearing his pirate boots, Ezio is wearing a pair of black converse, Altaïr wears high-tops and Connor wears his regular assassin boots.

"Perfect.  Wait here while I pay," I say.

I quickly pay for the clothes and walk back to where the Assassins are standing, all looking like normal teens.

Today was a successful day.

A/N: This chapter was so much fun to write.
