Chapter 3

The morning sun rose slowly announcing a new morning over the Scottish hills, a pinkish glow illuminated from behind the clouds as rays of sun shone brightly down on the earthy landscape replenishing the tree's, by the thousand, with their inherent rich green colour. The Black Lake glittered invitingly the surface appearing as tough millions of diamonds were floating within every ripple, birds began to sing to one another in a language only known to them. As the earth began to wake so did its inhabitants, Hogwarts elf's raced around the kitchens preparing the morning feast for every professor and student, while students, willingly or not rose groggily out of bed to fetch their robes and head down to the great hall for a quick bite before morning classes started. While the morning buzz had started to set in at Hogwarts in the tranquility of his private chambers Albus lay, unbothered by the morning, still fast asleep.

Unluckily for him, his slumber was cut short by pesky sunbeams that shone their way through the silk curtains on the window. They danced across his face until he finally blinked his eyes open and turned his face away from the sun.   He slowly rolled over in high hopes of cuddling into Minerva, but instead was met only by cold sheets. His eyes quickly shot open and he let out a little sigh as he saw the empty spot on the mattress where she once lay. He was looking forward to waking up next to her to kiss her good morning, stroke stray hairs off her face, lay peacefully engaged in pointless but lovely morning conversation, eat breakfast in bed together. He had to remember that she was indeed a student and had to abide by the rules and time schedule for her classes and curfews, she was restricted in terms of being free to see and stay with him, she certainly didn't have as much freedom as he did as a professor and deputy headmaster. Though in her place lay a neatly folded note laying on the pillow, a small grin traced Albus' lips as he picked the note up and unfolded it to reveal its contents.

Good morning love,

Its half five and I inconveniently have quidditch practice, I would have loved to stay and wake up next to you, but Baxter gets rather cross when players miss practice. I will see you in transfigurations

lots of love, Min

He smiled at the letter and folded it back up placing it on his side table. He swung his legs over the side of the bed, he pulled his hair back and tied it into a loose bun then got up to call for breakfast.

"Today we will be lear-

"Professor do you know anything about animagus?" Interrupted the class loud mouth Susan Baker, receiving a few huffs of air and eye-rolls from students in the classroom. Minerva shifted in her seat directing her gaze up towards Albus, she had read a lot about animagus and it actually interested her greatly. Albus scanned over the faces of the whole class and grinned, he sat up on his desk and looked directly at Susan.

"I am very familiar with this type of magic. What is it you wish to know?" He asked and watched as Susan's face lit up.

"Could you teach us?" She asked and a few other students nodded their heads. Albus let out a soft chuckle clapping his hands together.

"Unfortunately I am not permitted to teach such a thing, now lets get back to turning cats into cauldrons..." Albus said and the whole class groaned, Minerva smiled as a beautiful ginger cat with bright green eyes appeared perched on her desk. She scratched in between his ears and stared zoned out thinking back to animagus, she very much so wanted to learn how to perform such magic, and if Albus knew about it or even knew how to do it, she most certainly could get him to teach her somehow.

Minerva had successfully transfigured her cat into a cauldron and back to its original form at least 5 times.  She had always found transfiguration came naturally to her and for that she was grateful because it was her absolute favourite subject.  At long last the class came to an end and all the students filed out of the classroom, all except Minerva that is. She stood up from her desk and eyes Albus with a small smirk on her face.  Albus smiled at her as he slowly staggered towards her, he placed his hands on her hips and gently pulled her into him.

"How are you my love?" he asked kissing her cheek. Minerva smiled up and him and quickly pecked his lips. "Im well, thanks." she answered laying her head on his chest.  They swayed together in silence for a few moments just enjoying each-others company.

"I was actually wondering..." she started lifting her head to look at him again "I want to be an animagus." she said confidently, Albus raised his brows in surprise and grinned.

"I am guessing you wish me to teach you." He answered presumptuously.  Minerva smiled and let out a little chuckle.

"No other professor, in my most humble opinion, seemed suitable for the task." She said jokingly batting her eyelashes up at him.  Albus kissed her cheek again and smiled down at her, and by the way his eyes twinkled Minerva knew she had convinced him.

"Since I am the only suitable mentor, and I am incapable of ever saying no to you...I suppose I will teach you." He said smiling widely.  Minerva bit her lip feeling a sense of victory, she knew he wouldn't be able to say no to her.

"Thank you..now, I have to go." she said quickly kissing his cheek before leaving his embrace.  Albus watched grinning as she quickly packed away all her books and notes, she smiled at him and started to head for the door.

"Friday evenings in this classroom, we will begin next week." Albus stated before Minerva walked through the door, she smiled widely and let out an excited squeak. Before she walked out she mouthed "I love you" and headed off for her next class.
