2 days later

*Adelyne's POV*

Hershel said I was finally able to get up and walk around. Thank god because I was so close to going crazy being locked up in that room. I stood up getting dressed and walked outside towards where camp ws set up.

"Adelyne!" Carl yelled running up to me and hugging me.

I winced but hugged him tight. I knelt down so I was at eye level with him

"Hey how are you?"

"I'm good you're the one who got shot, are you okay?" he asked.

I kissed his forhead and looked at him.

"You know me I'm always okay" I stood and Carl took my hand.

"If I tell you something can you promise not to get upset?" Carl asked.

Kneeling down again I looked at him moving my hair away from my eyes,

"You can tell me anything what's up?"

Carl fummed nervous and played with his hands lot looking at me.

"umm.."

"Carl tell me it's okay."

He looked at me.

"Well I had a dream about Katie last night.."

Oh? He watched me and waited to see a sad look cross my face but I kept my emotions at bay and told him to complain.

"It felt like it wasn't a dream but she wanted me to tell you that she loved you and missed you. But she watches over you and that she loves the purple monkey" Carl told me raising his eyes in question at the last part.

My heart sank and I hugged him tight. Katie! I love you so much. I miss you to sweetie more than you know. I let Carl go and kissed his cheek and stood up.

"Thanks for telling me"

I rubbed his head messing up his hair and he chuckled.

I was walking and I came across Shane he was leaning agaisnt the front of his RV examining his gun and taking a deep breath I walked up to him. He didn't even look up maybe he didn't even hear me approach him.

"Can I talk to you?" I asked.

His head turned in my direction and immediately he straightned and ran a hand over his now shaved head.

"Sure, how are you feeling?" he asked.

"I'm fine. Look I came to thank you"

"Thank me?" he asked confused.

"Yes if not for you I'd be dead right now. You risked your life to save mine and I wanted to thank you. I really appreciate it and I will forever be grateful" I told him completely meaning every word.

He gave me more time with everyone and I was happy to be alive.

"Adelyne..you don't need to thank me I-"

"No I do. You saved me so let me thank you properly" I told him firmly.

Shane looked away from me and then back at me and I hugged him it felt weird to hug him but I did. He hugged me back and I pulled away.

"Thank you again."

I walked away and bumped into glenn who was coming out of the RV he reached his arm to catch me and I smiled.

"Oh my god Adelyne you're walking around" He pulled me into a hug telling everyone else that I was walking around.

I got hugs from Dale, Glenn, Andrea, Carol, and even Hershel's daughters. Looks like everyone was happy that I was okay. I scanned for Lori and then walked over to her.

"Glad to see you're up and moving around" she told me.

"Look I know we haven't been getting along I had ill feelings towards you since I found out. But..Rick told me that you refered to me as your daughter and cared and cried for me just like a mother should. Thank you for being here while I wasn't doing the best. I appreciate it. And when it comes to you and Rick... I am your daughter. Rick is my Dad and you are my Mom" I explained.

Lori hugged me and I smiled I loved the family and I knew them for so long that they had become my parents.

Hershel wanted to check my stitches and I was waiting on the bed. Night had fallen and everything was silent in the house it gave me an eary feeling. Hershel came in and I lifted my shirt so he could check and he cleaned them out and I winced at the pain but it quickly subsided. I looked at Hershel,

"Thank you for saving my life. And I'm so sorry for the loss of Otis" I told him.

He glanced up at me and held my gaze.

"Thank you ma'am. Otis died a hero"

"Yes he did and I will live a life worth living for his sacrafice. And Hershel please call me Adelyne" I said.

Hershel smiled and kept adressing to my wound and I winced a little. I seen one of Hershel's daughters Maggie walk by.

"You're daughters are lovely"

"I love them so much. You have any kids?" he asked.

I hung my head at the memory of Katie but I recollected my feeling before I fell apart.

"Yeah I had a seven year old daughter her name was Katie. She-um- she didn't make it.."

Hershel put his hand on mine and his eyes looked straight into mine with the most sincere look I've ever seen in anyone's eyes.

"I am truly sorry Adelyne"

"Thank you."

Hershel stood up. And I let my shirt fall and I stood with him.

"Now let's go."

"Go where?" I asked.

"You'll see"

and he lead me through the house to the door.
