*Daryl's POV*

I walked holding Adelyne I didn't like the fact that she was standing alone with Mike. She had been talking to him but I don't know what was said. I seen the look in Mike's eye he loved her and I knew for a fact she didn't feel that way about him. But I aslo didn't know how she felt about me. Did she love me? What we did last night would say she did but she didn't say the words to me. So I don't know what's going on between us. All I know is I was going to keep her safe whether she wanted me to or not.

*Adelyne's POV*

We followed Jenner into the main room and all the lights turned on. It revealed a big room with computers and a huge screen but we were the only people in the whole facility.

"Few people every got a chance to see this. Very few" Jenner said.

I leaned against one of the computer desks and paced a bit waiting. Jacqui was with TDog and Rick was standing with Lori,Shane, and Carl. Andrea stood alone same as Mike and Carol was with Sophia. The main screen powered up and what looked like an xray of a body popped up.

"Is that a brain?" Carl asked.

Jenner looked at him and nodded.

"An extrodinary one. Not that it matters in the end, take us in for the EIV"

Suddenly an woman robot voice spoke.

"Enchanced internal view"

We all watched the screen and there were a milliong tiny lights that were moving inside the brain.

"What are those lights?" Shane asked.

Jenner pointed up at the screen and started expalining to us.

"It's a persons life--exsperinces memories. It's everything somewhere in all that organic wiring is you. The thing that makes you unique. And human."

I took a deep breath wrapping my arms arond myself starting to feel cold.

"You don't make sense ever? " Daryl asked leaning against one of the desks.

"Those are synapses, electric impulses in the brain. That carry all the messages. They determine everything a person says, does, or thinks from the moment of birth to the moment of death" He explained.

Rick walked closer to him and ran a hand through his short hair.

"Death? That's what this is a vigil?"

"Yes or rather the playback of the vigil."

I looked up at the screen and really looked at it.

"This person died? Who?" I asked.

My feelings came rushing over me...Katie oh I missed her so much. Jenner didn't look at us but kept his eyes on the screen.

"Test subject 19. Someone who was bitten and infected and voulenteered to have us record the process. VI scan to the first event" Jenner said.

The computer spoke and scanned to the first event of what happens. We watched the lights on the brain slowly die out.

"What is that?" Glenn asked looking at Jenner curiously.

"It invades the brain like meningitis. The adrenal glands hemorrhage, the brain goes into shut down, the the major organs. Then death"

I hung my head and held my stomach feeling my emotions build up. I wanted to start crying Daryl must have noticed because he came up behind me and held me tight. I looked at Andrea and realised she wasn't doing so good either she lost her sister like I lost my daughter.

"Anything you ever were or will be, gone." Jenner told us.

Jenner looked at us and noticed Andrea and I obsorbed in sorrow. Lori looked at him.

"They lost someone two days ago. Her daughter and her sister" she said nodded her head at each of us.

Jenner came up to us.

"I lost someone too. I know how devesating it is. Scan to second event"

I held onto Daryl and he did the same to me. The computer did as was told and scanned.

"The rescurrection time is very wildly. We have reports of it happening in as little as three mintues. The longest is eight hours. This patient it was two hours, one mintute...seven second."

We watched the brian on the screen and the bottom of the brain started spurring little lights that looked red. Lori looked at the screen shocked.

"It restarts the brain?" she asked.

"No just the brain stem. Basically it gets them up and moving"

I let go of Daryl and walked up to Jenner and Rick looking a the screen.

"But they're not alive?"

"You tell me."

Before I had a chance to respond Rick spoke.

"It's nothing like before most of that brain is dark" Rick explained looking at him seriously.

Rick put his hand on my shoulder and stood next to me. Jenner nodded,

"Dark, lifeless dead. Teh frontel lobe, the neocortex, the human part the doesn't come back. The you part. Just a shell driven by mindless instinct" He explained to us.

So what I just watched on this screen is what happened to my babygirl. That really hurt me. Knowing that all of this had happened to Katie when I was sitting next to her on the ground. She was going through all of that and I couldn;t even tell. The last thing she said to me was "I love you mommy." A flashing light came across the screen

"What was that?" Carol asked.

Andrea looked up at the screen and then back to Jenner.

"He shot his patient in the head. Didn't you?"

"Power down the main screen and work stations" he told the computer.

I recollected myself and crossed my arms over my chest pacing.

"You have no idea what it is do you?" I asked.

Jenner rubbed his face and sighed.

"It could be microbial, virual, parasitic, fungal"

"Or the wrath of god" Jacqui told us.

It was the first words she spoke since we entered the room.

"There is that" Jenner pointed out.

"Somebody must know something. Somebody somewhere." Andrea explanied looking at him hoepful that he knew something.

Carol was holding Sophia. I looked at Mike was just watching everything unfold.

"There are other right? Other facilities?" Carol asked.

Jenner looekd at all of us.

"There may be some. People like me"

Rick looked at Jenner with a little bit of irratation.

"How can you not know?"

"Eveythig went down. Communications all of it. I've been in the dark for almost a month"

We all stood in silence for a moment.

"So it's not just here? There's nothing left anywhere?" Andrea pointed out.

"That's what you're really saying isn't it?" I asked.

My hope of finding out what it was deflated like a baloon. I sighed and put my face in my hands. I felt Rick rest his hand on my back as a comforting gesture. I took a few deep breaths and then looked up. Everyone was silent for several moments.This silence was killing me. I looked around.

"Man I wanna get shit face drunk again" Daryl said as he leaned against one of the work stations.

Dale looked at Jenner and walked a little closer.

"Dr. Jenner I know this has been taxing for you and I hate to ask one more question, but that clock it's counting down." We all loked at the clock and Dale looked at Jenner with a very serious look. "What happens at zero?"

I seen Jenner freeze up and he took a deepe breath.

"The basement generators they run out of fuel" he said.

I really looked at him and walked closer.

"And then?"

Jenner said nothing and that made me worried I looked at Rick.

"VI what happens when the power runs out?" Rick asked.

That's when the robot voice responded.

"When the power runs out, facility-wide decontamination will occur."

That's when Jenner walked away.
