Chapter 13
Vik
The good thing about your parents no longer living with you, is that you have no boundaries. I can leave at 10pm. Like im about to. The door locks behind me and i venture outside. It's cold and would be pitch black, if not for the orange lights illuminating the streets. Where i go, there will be no lights.
I know the time, I know the route and I have the money. I haven't met Mitch in a while for drugs, a year actually. Apart from the time Tobi was getting cigs. Even if Mitch was the one who beat me up yesterday, i know he will accept my money and give me the things i want. Mitch will do anything for money.
I doubt Mitch will expect me, but Mitch always expects the unexpected.
The path gets darker and darker, no cars and as i walk i see the outlines of people. And they're all here for the same thing as me. Mitch is easy to find, if you know your way around.
"Well hello, hello. Didn't expect to see you here." Jerome says, as he pushes me against the wall. I remain unfazed. He may have done this to me earlier, but round here? he knows he'll get money.
"Wheres Mitch?" I ask. Mitch deals, Jerome protects.
"Always straight to the point, weren't you? He's in the field, you know."
The exchange between me and Mitch is quiet, Mitch doesnt want anything wrong. He's beat me up now, and im no longer a friend, that stopped years ago. He gives me a couple plastic bags, and i give him money. I turn away from him and begin to walk.
"Vik!" He calls," I know we're not friends but i'm worried! slow down with the drugs!"
I glare at him and keep walking. Light a cig on my way home. A young woman calls to me from across the road, "Smoking kills you!"
Well i hope it does.
