Freed: Finding Their Courage
Chapter 10: Finding Their Courage
The hidden chamber was quiet, save for the soft breathing of its captives. The princesses huddled together, fear and doubt etched across their faces. Many had spent years painted as damsels in distress, waiting for someone else to save them. Now, with Cedric captured and Gideon closing in, they realized it was up to them.
Nova, her hand resting protectively on her stomach, stepped forward. “Listen to me,” she said, voice steady and warm. “We’ve faced impossible odds before. We are not helpless. Not now, not ever. Avalonia needs us, and we can do this together.”
Queen Rosabella, graceful yet commanding, placed a hand on Nova’s shoulder. “Your courage is stronger than you know. Each of you has something no villain can take away: your mind, your strength, your magic, your heart. Trust it.”
Callista’s dragon eyes glimmered in the torchlight. “I’ve seen what you’re capable of. Don’t let fear chain you. The world will test you, yes—but it cannot control you unless you let it.”
Anastasia Tremaine, standing tall despite past failures, smirked with newfound determination. “I fought for the heroes once. I can fight for myself now. You can too.”
Merida stepped forward, fiery and unyielding. “Courage isn’t being fearless. It’s standing up when everyone tells you you can’t. You have it. I’ve seen it. Trust it.”
Mulan added, calm and disciplined, “Strategy, skill, determination… you all have them. You just have to believe in yourselves and in each other.”
Finally, Kayley, drawing her sword and pointing it toward the hidden exit, said firmly, “This is your moment. Not a moment to wait. Not a moment to doubt. Every one of you has a strength—now use it.”
The room was quiet for a heartbeat, then a spark ignited. One by one, the princesses lifted their heads, their eyes shining with renewed confidence:
Aurora realized her magic of enchantment could shield them.
Cinderella used her cleverness and resourcefulness to spot hidden paths and weaknesses.
Ariel called upon the creatures of the palace waters to aid them.
Anna tapped into her boundless determination and optimism to rally those who still hesitated.
Tiana focused on ingenuity, turning everyday objects into tools for defense.
Elsa felt her ice magic pulse in her veins, ready to protect her friends.
Even the previously timid princesses found their own strengths. Some discovered leadership within themselves; others realized courage came in small, precise actions. Each one felt the power of agency and choice.
Nova nodded to Callista. “The passages are ready. Let’s go.”
One by one, the princesses stepped into the shadows, using their unique skills:
Aurora cast protective wards.
Elsa conjured icy paths and barriers.
Ariel summoned flurries of water and small creatures to distract guards.
Cinderella mapped routes, guiding the group with quick thinking.
Tiana used clever traps and gadgets.
Anna shouted words of encouragement, bolstering morale.
Kayley, Merida, and Mulan led the charge, blades, and bows at the ready.
With hearts pounding and determination blazing, the princesses stormed toward the castle, unified yet individually empowered, each ready to confront Gideon and prove that no princess would ever be a damsel in distress again.
