On the topic of writing, whenever I look at tips for writing, it's always like

Like, no, writing is supposed to be fun. Making a character based off yourself is fun and also awesome because they already have a realistic personality. As long as you don't make them a Mary Sue, I would LOVE to see your character in your story that is based off of you

I think it's really cool and I don't understand the hate it gets

Enjoy things
Make an OC that is basically you but in the world of your story
It'll be fun
For you as a writer
And for your readers
They'll feel like they're pseudo-meeting you
