i. hey there demons!

AS AXEL APPROACHED the ever growing high school party, the immediate stench of alcohol and drunk teenagers hit his nostrils. Embracing his environment, he tugged his jean jacket tighter and walked inside the house. Luckily, two of his best friends possessed fiery red hair, making it easy to spot them in the sea of people. With a smile, he approached the other teens. "Hey there demons, it's me, ya boy!" He wrapped his arms around Archie's and Astrid's Andrew shoulders.
Astrid stifled her drink when she was startled by the sudden appearance of Axel. "Hey!" She yelled, laughing at herself almost choking on her alcohol.
"How much have you guys had to drink?" Axel asked while chuckling.
Beatriz stepped up, "Surprisingly not too much. Some of us just can't hold our alcohol well." She joked. Axel laughed as he glanced back at the red-headed female. Astrid was eyeing almost every girl that walked past, and it made Axel have to do a double take. Archie's voice pulled him out of his thoughts.
"Well, I'm going to go get shit faced! Beatriz, you're driving." He declared, giving the brunette a wink. Axel hollered in reply as he watched the other male stalk off towards the kitchen. Beatriz soon followed, ready to argue with the red-head. As Astrid and Axel watched both of them bicker back in forth, they couldn't hold in the laughter.
Though Astrid's gaze shifted to her right, where she caught sight of one of her friends. "Kev!" She yelled. This action caused Axel to turn, and face the boy that she called for. The raven-haired boy was surprised to see Sheriff Keller's son. "Kevin, hey," Astrid added as the other boy joined them. "This is Axel. Axel is this Kevin."
Kevin reached his hand out with a smile, "Love the name." Axel awkwardly joined their hands in a shake, as if he'd never done it before. Shortly afterward, Axel shoved his hands back into his jean jacket pocket as if it hadn't happened in the first place. He didn't intentionally want it to be uncomfortable, he just thought Kevin was more good-looking than in the yearbook pictures he had previously seen.
"Thanks, man," Axel smiled.
He noticed Astrid's cautious and humorous glances at him and Kevin. Though as soon as he turned to glare joking at her, he immediately caught sight of the Blossom twins approaching from behind her. "Uh oh." He said, making the two teenagers around him, to give Axel a confused look. "Cherry bombshell and golden boy eleven o'clock!"
"Astrid!" Cheryl called out as the two approached. "And tow," She added, distastefully.
Axel rolled his eyes. "You remember my ex, right?" He then threw Cheryl the fakest smile he could muster.
"You forget that I'm a river vixen," Astrid smirked.
Everyone at Riverdale High knew about Cheryl and Axel's brief relationship back when the two were freshmen. The moment he had found the courage to come out to her about liking girls and guys, she immediately turned and told her brother. Jason, not really liking Axel too much in the first place, outed him to the entire football team. Axel took that time to break up with Cheryl, and vow to never speak to her again. Though after being paired up together for a project in science together, they had managed to find a happy medium.
"I assume you're doing well, Axel?" Cheryl threw him a look. "After the incident."
Axel rolled his eyes again. "Well I'm the one who broke it off, so shouldn't I be asking you that?"
"This party is so fun!" Astrid added quickly while stepping between the two bickering teens. Everyone else around them was eternally grateful for this move.
Jason finally stepped forward, "So, Astrid, where's Archie? I'd like to rub it in your faces at the same time, that Blossoms are better than Andrews," that comment made him and his own twin crack up with laughter.
"Lame. Are you still going after that? At least we don't participate in incest," Astrid snapped back while taking a swing of her drink.
Axel's mouth dropped as he began laughing. He and Kevin shared a quick glance before the football player was patting his best friend on the back. Jason threw him a glare, before turning and stalking away with his sister. "Astrid that was golden!" He called out.
"Thank you, I try my best," she replied with a smile and a small bow.
At that moment, a stumbling Archie came up to them with Beatriz at his side, keeping him up upright, his arm hanging over her shoulders. "What did we miss?" She asked, pushing Archie up to his feet.
"Just Astrid single-handily taking the Blossoms down with the best twin comment yet," Axel laughed.
Kevin laughed along, "Yeah, it was pretty great," making brief eye contact with Axel in the process. "Woah, Archie, you look wasted."
"When did you even get here?" Archie asked, squinting his eyes as Kevin furrowed his brows, making the other three giggle.
"Hey, I'm going to go grab another drink, see you guys," Astrid waved them off, winking at Kevin before heading towards the kitchen.
Kevin, immediately taking the hint, shyly blushed. As Archie and Beatriz began to bicker about who knows what, Axel turned to face the sheriff's son. "Do you want to dance?"
"Y-Yes!" Kevin barely stuttered out as Axel grabbed his wrist, and pulled him towards the DJ booth. The slightly taller male was so star struck he barely recognized the raven-haired boy speaking to him. "W-What?"
Axel laughed. "I asked if you've ever done if this before."
"Done what?"
Then Axel wrapped his arms around Kevin's shoulders and swayed his body to the music. The other immediately got the message and began to follow along with his own movements. The two became lost in their own world where every little problem of theirs has whisked away.
Axel became a little too carried away after a while. The alcohol was starting to get to him and he began to make seductive advances towards Kevin, but definitely without over-stepping his boundaries. Kevin was totally all for it. He followed everything Axel did like a student learning from a teacher.
"Can I kiss you?" Axel asked with their faces in close proximity. Kevin, still shocked, could barely mutter a word, so he simply nodded his head frantically. Axel smirked before connecting their lips passionately. Neither of them cared for the strange looks they received from other teenagers, they only cared for themselves.
Axel pulled away after a few minutes. He looked up at Kevin and laughed at his slightly disheveled hair. After studying his face carefully, Axel said, "You know . . . you look kinda like Prince Charming."
"The one from Cinderella? Doesn't he have black hair?"
Axel shook his head with a laugh. "No! The one from Snow White. My sister loved that movie."
Kevin couldn't contain his blush as he turned away from the other male. Though the alcohol in Axel's system got the better of him when he gently turned Kevin's face back in his direction and connected their lips once again.
Neither of them saw the three Riverdale High football players watching the two of them from the back of the room, disapprovingly.
