Shawn stared at her for a few moments. Maybe he was debating whether it was wise to tell her his plans. But seeing as April was chained like an animal, there wouldn't be much she could do anyway. And what could she do to stop a Lycan anyway? There was little she could do, maybe even nothing.

"Don't look at me like that," Shawn spoke in such a tender and gentle voice that it was almost eerie. "I won't hurt you. I promise. I will let you leave once everything is over."

"I don't care about your promises," she responded in a wavering tone. "What are you planning?" April asked again.

"I'm not the bad guy here. What I plan to do is nothing evil and despite what you might think of me right now, I'm not the villain here. Quite the opposite actually," he explained. April didn't quite understand why he felt the need to explain all this nonsense to her. "But to question your answer, I plan to kill Viktor, but I think I already told you that."

April was speechless. There were no words to describe his plan. He was crazy. Completely and utterly insane. She couldn't believe that she never realized how crazy he actually was.

"Please stop looking at me like that. Like I said, I'm not the bad guy here. Viktor is. You already saw what he is capable of. And let me tell you, what you saw wasn't even all of it. He is a killer."

"Oh, and you are not?"

"No. I'm not. I don't force others into cage fights. The fights you have seen were nothing. Normally, there is only one who gets out of the fight alive. But I guess your little boyfriend didn't tell you that, did he? In his eyes, Viktor is a god. That's so pathetic. He would give you up before giving him up. He is too loyal to him."

"That's not true," April retorted.

"Are you sure about that?" Shawn asked and raised his eyebrows. "Did you know that Viktor let my girlfriend die in one of those fights?"

"W-what?" She stuttered in disbelief.

"Of course no one told you that either. Viktor might be strong and almost undestroyable, but in the end, he is nothing but a pathetic man. Falling in love with a woman that would never be his and throwing her into the fight, knowing she wouldn't be able to defend herself. And all because of what? Jealousy."

"Oh my god," April breathed shakily. "Viktor forced her into the cage?" She asked in a small, broken voice. Her eyes started to brim with tears again. This got worse and worse. "I'm so sorry."

"Yeah, I know. But being sorry about that isn't going to bring her back."

She looked up at him and saw tears in his eyes. Her heart sank a little bit, but at the same time she tried not to feel any sympathy. He wasn't innocent.

"So this is about revenge."

"This is more about avenging her death." He brushed the tears away with the back of his hand. "This is about putting an end to all this madness. To put an end to all the killing that is happening under Viktor's reign."

April scoffed. "And what about all the humans you captured and turned into Lycans?"

"I turned them, yes, but I didn't kill them. It were Viktor's men who killed them. Not me. If you are trying to make me feel guilty, it's not working. I know that it's not my fault."

"Oh, so you didn't kill them but you think turning them into Lycans is better?"

Shawn sighed. "I don't expect you to understand it. After all, you are just a human, a normal girl. Not that this is something bad, but you just can't understand this. You probably never will."

"I don't need to be a Lycan to know that what you do is wrong. Turning all these people is wrong, Shawn."

April glared at him hatefully. How could he turn innocent humans and feel no remorse at all? Sacrificing all their lives for what? For a stupid plan that surely wouldn't even work out. And here he was shrugging it off like it was nothing what he did.

"I know it's wrong. But is is necessary. To kill Viktor, sacrifices have to be made. I can either decide to let him live, so that he can continue to kill another hundreds or thousands victims more, or I can sacrifice a few lives and make sure that no more blood is spilled once he's dead. In the end, it will be worth it and all the people that died in the process will be heroes."

April leaned her head back against the cold and hard wall. She couldn't believe his words. On one hand, she understood his need to revenge his deceased girlfriend.

But on the other hand, she couldn't deny that his plan was crazy. Sacrificing humans to kill Viktor? April knew he wasn't a good man, but that still didn't justify Shawn's doings. There had to be other ways to solve this problem, without causing more deaths.

April held her breath. "And where do I fit in this place? Why did you kidnap me?"

"I didn't kidnap you," he said with an eye roll. "As soon as Nikolaj notices that you are gone, he will search for you. And sooner or later he will find you and when he realizes that I don't only keep you here, but dozens of other humans as well, he will go and snitch to Viktor and knowing Viktor, he only ever pays attention to the big problems around here. So he will show up personally to take care of this situation. And then, boom." He made an explosion motion with his left hand.

It took her long moments to understand what he meant with that. He wasn't only trying to lure Viktor here, but Nikolaj as well and probably even her brother! He was going to kill them all!

"There has to be another way. You don't have to do this," she croaked.

"That's were you are wrong. I have to do this. There is no other way. Or what would you do? Call the cops so they can arrest Viktor? This is not how it works in our world. It might work in your world, but not in ours. We don't have it as easy as you humans do."

"So you want to kill Nikolaj and my brother, too? They are innocent people!"

She wasn't afraid of what might happen to her anymore. Now, she was worrying about Nikolaj and her brother and all the others Shawn was going to kill. Her stomach churned in the worst way possible.

"Compared to Viktor they might be. But they aren't that innocent, April. Both of them are loyal to Viktor. They have killed for Viktor. Even your brother did. I'm sorry if I'm shattering your fairytale world, but it's time for you to see the truth."

April could only shake her head at that. He was wrong. Completely wrong. Was Shawn so full of hatred that he couldn't see that what he was doing is wrong?

"So you want to kill them, because they had no other choice than to follow Viktor's orders? What does that say about you, then? I'm sure you had to follow his orders as well. Were do your loyalties lie then?"

"I was only loyal to one person," he answered dryly. "And Viktor killed that person. You don't understand it and that's okay. I don't expect you to."

Without waiting for an answer, Shawn then turned around and closed the door to the cage. He wasn't in the mood to explain things anymore. April quickly stood up and ran after him, but the chains restrained her and she fell back on her knees.

"So you are going to leave me down here alone?"

"I will come and get you later. I left some food for you and a blanket. It gets quite cold down here. If all goes well, you will be out in a few hours. Then, you should leave and start a new life. Or continue your old one, whatever you prefer," he spoke as he locked her up in the cell. "I feel bad for using you like this, but remember that this is all for a good reason."

Shawn turned around and walked away, his footsteps echoing loudly through the walls, until she couldn't hear him anymore. April rested her back against the cold wall of the cell and wrapped her arms around her legs.

At first, she had hoped that Nikolaj or Eric would find her soon and get her out of here, but now she wasn't so sure if she wanted them to find her. Nikolaj was strong to protect himself and no doubt her brother was too, but she would rather want them not to find her, instead of walking right into Shawn's trap.

She just wished there was a way she could warn them, but she didn't even have her phone right now. All she could do was wait and hope for the best.

Her head fell back against the wall. She just hoped everything will be alright and that nothing will happen to Eric and Nikolaj.
