Predator | 50

Predator | 50

It was silent. April's own harsh breathing was the only sound she was able to hear. Shawn didn't answer, neither did it look like he wanted to answer. Long moments passed, but she wasn't sure how much time had actually passed. Ten, twenty, or maybe thirty minutes. She wasn't so sure.

Instead of speaking, Shawn continued to drive. Both hands firmly on the steering wheel and a gaze focused on everything what was ahead of them, he drove them to god knows where. Though, if April was honest, she knew very well where he was going to take her.

She just didn't couldn't explain why he was taking her there, out of all places.

Her hands were beginning to sweat, despite the low temperatures. She was sitting stiff in the car, unable to relax. Normally, Shawn was an easy going person. She never felt uncomfortable around him, if she excludes the first time she met him at the bar and after that when she learned that he and her brother Eric knew each other.

But right now he was scaring her shitless. Since being in Rosewood, April was scared more than just twice. A lot of shit had happened during her stay, but in this very moment, she was more scared than she ever was.

Right now she wondered if she would get to see Nikolaj and her brother ever again and whether she was going to make it out alive.

Too soon, Shawn pulled over to the place April dreaded so see. The bar. The place where everything started.

Shawn didn't waste any time and opened the door, hurrying to the other side of the door. He yanked her door open and leaned his arm against the door while looking down at her. His expression was so serious that it frightened her.

"You can either come with me willingly, or I can move you by force," Shawn said evenly and by judging his expression, April knew that he wasn't joking at all. "And trust me when I say that it won't be any fun when I use force on you."

April tried to speak, was unable to do so. Her voice betrayed her, not allowing her to form proper words with her tongue.

She knew that she didn't have a choice but to do what he said. She could try and run, of course. But how big was the chance to outrun a Lycan? Almost non-existent. He could easily snap her neck with his bare hands, without even having to use much strength.

With a shaky breath falling from her lips, she got out of the car and refused to look at Shawn. Her eyes remained on the ground, focused on nothing in particular. She was wanted to avoid looking at his face.

"I knew you would listen to me," he murmured. "I don't like using force, though I have to admit it does have its perks. Come on."

Shawn reached out for her arm and kept a firm grip on it. She didn't even know why, since she had nowhere to run either. He probably just wasn't in the mood to bother and run after her.

Without any choice left for her, she followed him as he lead her towards the entrance of the bar. April was here only a couple of times but she remembered the feeling of being in there very well.

She wasn't scared when Nik was with her during his fight or when her brother was with her at the bar. But with Shawn, she was scared. She was so scared that she was even afraid to make any noise.

Once inside the bar, the familiar scent of alcohol burned her nostrils. He walked her towards a the door which led them to the place where all the secrets fights were happening.

At least, thats what she assumed at first.

April didn't know that the door didn't only lead to the place where all the fightings happened, but somewhere entirely different, too.

An underground prison.

Lots of empty cages were on the left and right side. Her knees began to shake, her legs almost giving up under her heavy weight, but Shawn's firm grip on her arm kept her from falling.

He lead her to the last cell at the end of the floor. Shawn opened the door and a shrill noise followed when he pushed the door open. With a firm shove, Shawn pushed her inside.

"Ow," she whimpered when she fell on her knees.

"I'm sorry it had to come to this. Trust me when I say that I didn't want that to happen. You are a good girl, but you got involved with the wrong people."

Still kneeling on the ground, April turned her head and looked at him over her shoulder. She suddenly turned angry and narrowed her eyes. A hateful expression took all over her face.

"Fuck you, Shawn," April spat and even though she knew that her choice of words could put her in a even more dangerous position than she already was, she didn't regret it. Now that she found her voice again, she couldn't stop herself. "I can't believe that all the time you pretended to be our friend. I feel so sick just looking at you."

For the briefest of moments, Shawn looked surprised, and almost sad. But April didn't buy it. "I am your friend, April," he answered. He walked closer towards her and kneeled down in front of her. "The others are the ones who aren't your friends."

"What are you even talking about?"

He sighed. "After all the time you are here in Rosewood, you still didn't realized how fucked up all the people here are? Or are you so in love with that mutt Nikolaj that you can't see what's in front of you?" He asked. "If that's the case, then you are even dumber than I thought," he spoke harshly.

He got up on his feet again and went around her. He pulled long chains out of the corner and chained them to both of her wrists. It wasn't too tight against her wrist, but the coldness of the metal was like a harsh bite into her skin.

"It is so disgusting that everyone follows every single order of Viktor. Like he did anything good for us. Forcing us to the cage fights for his amusement. Making them to follow his every move like trained dogs. It makes me feel sick. And your boyfriend Nikolaj? He is just the same."

"They don't have a choice," April gritted out.

She knew very well that they were powerless against Viktor. He was hundred of years old and wasn't someone who could easily be beaten or killed. And she knew too, that most of the Lycans were scared to live in cities all alone, afraid that the humans might learn what they truly are.

That was why they stayed here in Rosewood. It wasn't a fairytale life, but it was better than being anywhere else. She could understand that.

"That's were you are wrong, April," he answered. "They do have a choice, but they are so scared to do something. Viktor might be powerful and he might be hundreds of years old, but even he can be killed. In this world, there is nothing that lives forever. Not even a full-bred Lycan like Viktor."

"You can't kill him."

"I can and I will."

He sounded so confident, but April doubted his every word. Of course things might be better without Viktor around, but she knew that Shawn would die before he could even get his hands on Viktor.

"You won't be here for too long, I promise."

That didn't make her feel any better at all. She didn't want any promises, she just wanted to go home. Tears blurred her vision as she hatefully glanced down at her chained wrists.

"They will come for me."

Shawn nodded. "Of course they will. It's not hard to find you. They probably already noticed that you are gone and are searching for you. I'm even sure that they will find you in a few hours."

April frowned. She didn't understand Shawn at all. His plan made no sense to her. If he was so sure that they were going to find her sooner or later, then why did he even bother to kidnap her and chain her up in the underground prison? It was as if he wanted them to come here and safe her.

And then the realization dawned on her.

He wanted them to come here. That was his plan all along. This was a trap all along and they were going to fall right into it. Her blood ran cold.

"Shawn, what are you planning to do to them?" April asked in a shaky voice.

______

Sorry for the long wait! And sorry to everyone who actually liked Shawn and wanted him to end up with April. I always had to smile to myself whenever someone hoped she would end up with him instead of Nikolaj. Sorry to disappoint!

Hope you enjoyed the chapter. Thanks for reading.
