Blair wasn't making sense today.

Truth be told, she was being extremely weird from the moment we left the clinic yesterday. She was 'good mouthing' Peter so much, it felt unusual. Blair is normally someone who badmouths people a lot, and this enthusiastic optimism is rather frustrating.

I'm not sure if I should be reciprocating her words as insults in disguise as a praise, but then again, I'm terrible at understanding twisted words.

Before I knew it, it was already recess, which was meant to be used for discussing the highlights of the morning. It was usually Blair who'd talk, and I'd be the one who'd nod at every word of hers. Today, though, was different.

Blair had let a certain someone, I'm not so familiar with, sit next to us. It's not like we don't let people sit next to us or anything. It's the people that don't come. It was rather surprising to see Peter sitting with us, considering the fact that he had the looks of a model, the body of a Greek god, and perfectly fit the 'jock' stereotype. Just like I fit the 'socially awkward' stereotype.

"Heyyo, Amber!" Peter greeted, completely oblivious to a not-so-nonchalant Blair sitting next to him.

"Ahem," Blair cleared her throat and said, "I exist too, Hale."

"I know. But I associate myself with hot girls," he scoffed at her, his left eye looking as if a speck of dust went inside it.

Oh, wait. That was a wink.

What.

In.

The name of.

Holy Mother Earth.

Mom told me boys wink at you if they're flirting with you, but a boy like Peter hale flirting with me is impossible. I can even write down a book called '101 reasons why Peter can't flirt with Amber'.

Maybe he did have something stuck in his eye. Oh well.

While a hurricane of thoughts was pounding my mind, Blair casually whacked Peter in the back of his head, and gave him a look, before whispering something in his ear.

The two continued whispering and mumbling things that I couldn't hear, and don't bother to eavesdrop on, for quite a while, until Peter broke the chain of mumbles, and said, "Amber. Uh. I know you don't exactly, um, remember me and how involved I was in your life before I had to move. So, um, what do you say we catch up over some coffee?"

Well, it didn't seem too bad of an idea, and maybe if he helps me remember things, well, I can try suppressing my inner Yoda. Oh poo, who am I kidding? The Yoda is insuppressible around tall muscled boys.

"Go, uh, coffee out with you?" Oh, darn it, Yoda. You messed up big time now. Is this even Yoda anymore?

Peter chuckled, and said, "or I could walk you home today, doesn't necessarily have to be coffee. Anything you're fine with, really."

Blair huffed.

"Well, Amber, once you realize how much he's flirting with you, call me." With that, Amber stalked off to her other batch of friends. Oh, wait. She was friends with everyone. My bad.

What did she mean, 'flirt'? I thought flirting involved cheesy pickup lines and compliments so weird that one could nauseate listening to them. At least that's the idea I got from binge-watching movies.

But apparently, it doesn't. Apparently, Blair thinks Peter's flirting with me. I was just about to replay every word he spoke to me, in my mind, before he interrupted my thought train, saying, "don't mind her. She was always like that. So...you still have t answered. Coffee or nah?"

"E-either, D-don't mind I," I stuttered.

"Well, coffee it is then," he confirmed, getting up from the table, and walking over to where the couples' table was. Well, not exactly couples. It was the football gang's table. They always do everything together - eat, play, date, party...literally everything. It was like some tightly knit brotherhood with football as their deity.

They aren't jerks, if you thought of that. They're nice and all, but when you see how close they are to one another, it feels weird to be the third wheeler in their eleven-man bromance.

And so, with Peter gone I was alone at my table, with nothing but a half eaten sandwich to keep me company. At least I thought so, until Peter came back to the table, from behind me, completely startling me with his presence.

"OH MY GOD, HOLY MOTHER OF NATURE FROM TEEN TITANS GO! IS THERE A SNAKE ON MY SHOULDER?!!" I screamed, oblivious to the fact that Peter was my supposed 'snake'. Just when I was about to splash water on my personal space intruder, from my bottle, he revealed himself. A little too late, though.

The next thing I knew, Peter was drenched; head to toe, the entire hall was looking at me...and Peter, and I felt a panic attack on its way.

Praise Jesus, because my instincts were right.

I collapsed on Peter's wet body.

"Still to this very fuck-"

"AH STOP IT WHATEVER IT IS!" I yelled, jerking up from the clinic bed before I could hear the swear word. I have a no swear policy around me, and I take it pretty seriously.

"Hmph! Look who's finally awake," Blair said, with a tone fit for evil queens and old hags. She was being...um, how do I put it? There was this word Blair taught me, that matched her tone now. Right.

Salty.

She was being horrendously salty.

"Twice in a row now, eh? Who knew I was that hot?" Peter said, doing the peculiar wink thing he did to me earlier.

"I was just about to hit up some of that cash me ousside girl's videos, trying to relieve myself from my stress, and here you are, the one who's causing me this stress, wide awake and not letting me relax," Blair complained.

"Um Blair, do. you even have anything to stress over?" Peter asked, looking at Blair incredulously.

"Ugh. Boys. Do you even understand how hard it is to guide someone as naive as Amber through this Amazon forest that we call 'school'? I mean, I should be getting paid for doing this, okay? A little appreciation won't hurt," Blair said, switching on her 'sass' mode on. At least that's what she called it.

"Whatever floats your boat," Peter muttered, before turning to me and saying,"hey Amber, you still up hanging out today, right?"

"Uh, ye-yeah," I mumbled out, trying my best to make my conversations with Peter as short as possible.

You see, when I'm around the male population, I tend to lose control over my mouth, and it starts acting as if it has a mind of its own. Which explains the Yoda-Dobby talk.

Communicating with the female population isn't that hard, but with males, there's this thing involved called heterosexual attraction, and even if I am not particularly attracted to the guy, I still end up sounding retarded.

Oh, the troubles of a socially awkward teenager.

"Miss Fields, do take care of your health. This is the second time you're here in two days," the nurse muttered, before adding "kids these days."

Just then, Peter had the horrendous idea to hold my arm and help me down. If my heart wasn't already beating at twice it's normal pace before, it just quadrupled now. I am so not comfortable with this touchy-feely thing going on with Peter.

And so, as expected, I gave him the look. The "why are you doing this to me look".

"What?" he asked, oblivious to my evident chagrin.

"Le-let go me oh-of," I replied, Yoda talk still taking over me.

"Okay," he said, dropping my hand, all of a sudden, and continued, "one day, Amber Fields. One day, you'll talk me like you used to." With that, he stalked off the nurse's leaving me dumbfounded with his sudden change in moods.
