Backstory time

(Y/n) POV

I was sitting in a waiting queue for a dungeon, the group I was in was two damage dealers and me the healer, they were human I wasn't so they weren't to happy about an undead being their healer. Whatever, when you play undead in Yggdrasil you tend to grow thick skin when it comes to petty insults, besides these two are only around level 50 and I am level 63 so I could easily wipe the floor with them. I was managing my inventory and turning in some bounties as the matchmaker pinged letting us know two more have been found. They spawned in shortly after, two more undead, an Elder Lich caster and a warrior wearing world champions armor "Two more of them seriously?" one of the other guys groaned "I wish there was an option to only match with human players" the other said "Guys come on, we're all on the same quest, let's just get it done and we can never see each other again" the Lich Momonga said while the first scoffed "We'd never see each other again faster if you guys just left now" "Why don't you just shut up" I said making them look at me "What'd you say?" "I said shut up, he's right, we're all here for the same reason, let's just get on with it otherwise you guys can also go find a new healer" I said and the guy just growled but he walked off to the starting area "Thanks for that" Momonga said "Yeah, thanks for sticking up for us" Touch Me said as I shrugged "Don't worry about it, I can just let them die"

Time Skip

"Gentlemen, welcome to the Tomb of Nazarik", we sort of stuck together afterwards. Me, Momonga, and Touch Me continued our little adventure through Yggdrasil. I joined the guild that Mononga started, Ains Ooal Gown "You really outdid yourself with this one" Touch Me said looking around the throne room "Nine floors not counting this one, each one with their own set of nasty traps and a different environment, by the way" and I pulled out some papers "There aren't any NPC's yet but with the recent influx of applications to join that shouldn't be hard" Momonga was still rather silent "Something up?" "Did the chair really need to be that big?" "Of course, we're gonna be the best guild in the game, might as well have the best hall in the world"

The present

"Mr. (Y/n)" Ninya said as we were preparing to leave "Hmm?" "I wanted to apologize about prying into your personnel life last night" he said bowing his head slightly. I thought about it for a second "Don't worry about it, you didn't know, I apologize for my sudden departure" and his mood seemed to improve. Everyone reassumed their positions that we had last time "We should arrive at the village later today if we make good progress" Nferia said as Lukroot put his hands behind his head. Ninya dropped back slightly "So Mr. (Y/n), if you don't mind me asking where did you get your armor and weapons?" he asked looking up at me "I forged them myself, my uncle was a blacksmith" I said and he nodded and I noticed a small knife like blade on his waist "What is that?" I asked gesturing to the weapon "Oh... it's about our groups name 'The Swords of Darkness', we each have one and the name comes from four weapons that the legendary Black Knight weilded each one of us wants to find them and collect one, it's our dream" he said drawing the knife, it was black with four small jewels in the hilt. We kept walking until we got to a large wooden fence and gate "Huh, when did they put that up?" Nferia asked out loud. Without warning we were suddenly surrounded by goblin warriors "Who are you? State your business" one said as they all had their weapons ready and the four others responded by drawing their own weapons "I'm here to drop off herbs for Enri!" Nferia said as the goblins didn't lower their weapons 'Heh, a group of adventurers surrounded by goblins.... feel like I've seen this before' I thought gripping the hilt of my own sword "wait!" we heard a female voice say as that girl I saved from before came running "Nferia, it's good to see you" she said happily "Enri..." he trailed off at the end 'So was this just some elaborate scheme so he could see his crush?....Just fantastic' I thought as the goblins put their weapons down 'Glad to see that worked' I thought remembering the Goblin Horn I had sent to this village and I guess she used it. We were lead into the village and I looked around watching as they were practicing with bows and swords 'Learning to protect yourselves...smart'.

Nferia followed Enri into her house and we were left to our own devices until he decided to go and get the herbs we came out here for "My Lord if I may ask you a question" Nabe asked as we were standing on a hill overlooking the village "Go ahead" "Why are you hiding your identity from these humans, wouldn't it be easier to simply take this world by force?" "It would be much easier and faster, I believe that if we wanted to Nazarik could rule this world within a month.......but" I said looking back down at her "Taking this world by force would incite resistance and rebellion, whatever these humans lack in terms of strength compared to us but the one thing they make up for is resistance or courage, when I was last here I saw this firsthand, a warrior and his men charged into almost certain death yet they did it anyways without any regard for their own safety, it was admirable" "Charging into certain death, did he not realize his own foolishness" I chuckled "I believe he knew and did it all the same, so what I'm saying is if we openly conquer this world through war it would lead to a million more just like him with countless others to follow" "I see, as usual your wisdom is far beyond my own" Nabe said bowing "Anyways, we still have our task to complete" I said as Nferia was walking towards us with the others following.

We were lead into the forest, the trees were thick and full of small animals like squirrels and birds, it was a truly pleasant place. "Remember this is Wise King territory, we should be extra careful" Nferia said as he began harvesting some herbs "Me and Nabe are going to scout ahead, make sure nothing is going to bother us" I said and the rest of the group agreed. We headed deeper into the woods and the trees got thicker and we were soon out of earshot of the others "Okay, let us begin" I said as Nabe drew her sword "Hey, take it easy would'ya?" Aura said coming out from behind a tree "I apologize, I thought you were a enemy" Nabe said putting her sword away "Aura, have you found anything about this Wise King?" I asked the dark elf "yeah, he lives way further in and no other monsters will be around that area" if I had a mouth it would be smirking "Excellent, lead it here if you would" I said as Aura grinned "With pleasure" she ran off into the dense foliage. It was mere moments before I could hear the sound of something large moving towards us. I gripped my sword drawing it from the sheath, Nabe was about to do the same but I motioned for her to stop and back up. I readied myself as Aura came running by "here it comes" she said and kept going. With no warning a green tail came heading for my head, I quickly raised my sword and blocked the attack as the tail shrunk back into the darkness "oh you blocked my attack you did?" a voice said and I looked for the source "A strong opponent you must be" the voice said "I am Lord Harrow of the tomb of Nazarik, show yourself!" I shouted back to the creature "Very well, show myself I shall" trees fell over as the Wise King made his way towards us. I tightened my grip on my sword as the creature came into view. A giant hamster. I loosened my grip on my sword letting the tip of the blade hit the ground "Stunned by me appearance are you?" he said confidently "I can't believe I got myself all worked up for nothing" I said stabbing the ground a few times "Fear not, you shall not live with your shame for long for I will defeat you I shall" it said trying to sound menacing "I suppose I have no one but myself to blame" I muttered raising my sword pointing it at the hamster "Aura of despair level 1" a dark magic pulse came from my sword and the hamster fell onto its back defeated "Oh, clrearly I am no match for you I am" it said laying there almost crying "Huh, the hamsters we had weren't this big...." I muttered putting my sword away "You know more of my kind?" the hamster said getting up excited "Yeah, a friend had one of you as a pet" I said as the hamster got close to me "Please take me to the other members of my kind, as an animal it is my duty to reproduce it is" he said with stars in his eyes "Yeah no, they were much smaller than you" and he fell onto his belly "I see, now knowing that I will never reproduce makes my death at your hands the more difficult, please make it quick at least" he said expecting me to kill him "No" the hamster looked up at me "I have something in mind for you"
