Chapter 8

Pops was the leader of a mafia group? And the brothers also? What?
"Shit, I didn't know you had any kind of connection with them! If your little friends find out you are ought to stay here, they'll immediately inform the old geezer. Such a drag!" Kid went through his hair and cursed a couple of times before his gaze again stopped on me.
"You can't speak to them! Understood!?"
I hissed, meanwhile folding my arms in a secure position so I would made myself appear more confident: "You probably didn't notice, but I don't have a cellphone. And even if I had it wouldn't I by now call someone?"
"Either way. If you suddenly decide to go now to the Whitebeard, it would be a wrong move to make. Doflamingo probably searched throughout your entire history and knows about your circle of friends. So, if you go there an unnecessary war will start."
I had stared in bewilderness before I shut my eyes close. "No way. How didn't I notice? No, why didn't they tell me?"
"Just saying the truth. Would it make you feel better if I said that I arranged you a private tutor for your regular classes in school."
School! Oh damn, I forgot all about it...
My worried face wasn't overlooked by Kid, as he then explained: "We already took care of it."
"H-how? Isn't there like...I don't know... A huge bounty on my head and...the frickin police after me?!"
"Chill, you're in South Blue City and not in Dressrosa N.W. They are not going to find you here."
"And my friends?" Chill, yeah, I'm everything but chilled!
"Probably." He shrugged.
"W-what? Stop saying such ambiguous things!"
"Don't really care, what you're talking about."
"You had this all planned didn't you, you..."
"Piece of undeniable wrath, vengeance and so on and so on..." He looked at me, his hair still a mess. "Just trust me. You don't have so many choices. It's me or Doflamingo."
I kept quiet. He somehow expected my silence and slowly faced me with his back when I suddenly, out of the blue, eagerly stated: "Ok! I'll trust you! But only... If you'll let me go outside! I can't stand being locked in..." I stuttered, sheepishly awerting my gaze to the floor. Awe transformed his face when I put out my demand.
Here it goes, he'll start screaming and then...
"If that's what you wish."
"What? Seriously?"
"But only under one condition. I'll accompany you."
And with that he turned around.

"Edward Newgate isn't interrelated to the mafia. You really are naive..."
What?! I was leaning on the counter in the kitchen, drinking tea, while spilling out all my frustration that gathered in a short term of time.
Over the course of two weeks Killer became a quite good friend. When he wasn't irritated.
I inhaled a deep breath and blew out slowly. "But Kid said...Oh..." somehow, I came to my senses.
"Yeah...now you know." he lazily added, switching the newspaper list to another article.
"But...I'm a bit overwhelmed. Kid and joke. Those two words don't fit together. He rarely smiles furthermore openly jokes. " Killer murmured, a wary smile surfaced on his lips.
But unfortunately for the blond, the last part was unheard, because I immediately rushed to the only place where I was 100% sure I would find the boss.

"It takes a very special kind of idiot to pull what you did!" I roared, my vein angrily pulsing on my forehead, while violently invading the large space.
He nonchalantly turned towards me and with a quick scan observed me.

My pupils dilated. It was my first time seeing him in a single-breasted suit. Kid's red hair was slicked back, but neverless some strands were still falling on his forehead.
My fingers fiddled and played with a part of the fabric, while I was biting my lips and looking away.
He looked...mesmerizing.
"It takes a real imbecile to believe such a thing. Don't blame me for being easily deceived, Y/n."
"..."
"Oi, aren't you ready? We are going in five."
"What? Where?"
"Dinner."

Kid walked to the door of the restaurant and held it open with a contempt face. I walked pass him with a surprised gasp. The restaurant wasn't crowded-but nevertheless the whole space looked gorgeous. A chandelier hung from the ceiling and pretty candles illuminated the tables which were settled with a white cloak.
It was overall too fancy for someone like me. "Table for two and make it quick!" Kid snapped at the waiter.
After a minute, the hostess came to us to take our orders. And she was obviously assessing both of us. Mostly Kid. She approvingly smiled as she then approached us and with a warmer hostility towards the redhead began speaking: "Hello, my name is Alvida, and I'll be your server tonight." I couldn't help but to jealously scan her slim posture and beautiful dark-wavering hair. It was evident that she didn't have the need to buy any skin products. It looked naturally white and smooth.
Kid didn't seem fazed at all; he just leaned a bit closer to me. "You can order whatever you want."
"Uh...I'll take..." my mind was set on all of those French names for every cuisine. The only thing that looked familiar were... "I would like Spaghetti."
By now I was red as a tomato. I couldn't believe myself. I sounded just like a kid!
Alvida obviously thought the same as a snicker formed in the corner of her mouth, but before she could even turn her attention back to Kid, he already gave her an order, dismissing the flattery grimace that 'Alvida' made: "Same. With no delays. Hurry."
When she left, surprised by the rudeness, I couldn't help but to hiss at him: "Why do you need to be so mean?" I tried really hard not to sound content for it, tho.
Rejecting a gorgeous girl like that would be tagged as insane.
"When she stops drooling over me." He noticed?
˝I hate when people are staring at me."
"But she is beautiful." I continued pestering him, not knowing what I was aiming to achieve with it.
"So?" I could feel my heart galloping.
"So... I don't know. I thought you would react differently." I honestly murmured under my breath.
"What's that?"
"Nothing..."
"I'm trying to have a normal conversation with you! I guess I overestimated you." He grinned.
"And I'm trying subtly to avoid it! As well as that joke that you pulled!"
"Whatever." Ambled away, Kid arched a brow at me, his grin only widening. "At least I got some fun out of it."
"Lucky you..." I murmured, shifting in my seat embarrassed.
"You look...adequate." My body stiffened at the sudden remark.
Kid complimented me.
I was sure I looked out of the place with my black short-styled dress.
"Really? Oh no, I look ridiculous, don't I?"
He furrowed his brows: "I didn't..."
"I'll be right back. Just going to use the restroom."

The face in the mirror was a stranger to me. The lips of the girl in the reflection were colored slightly red, mascara carefully applied and a bit of blush put on the sides.
C/h locks luckily remained in place, but I still nervously went through my hair, anxious for some reason.
I had leaned on the sink and took some deep breathes when I heard a stiffened scream.
A woman?
Without hesitating, I left the restroom and followed the pleading, until I got the outside area of the restaurant, which was for a strange reason a dark alleyway- with no lights.
"Look what we have here, boys! Another beauty! Ain't today a lucky day!" Eight men, if not even more, were standing there, dressed casually. As I approached, I realized they were too old to be teenagers. Most of them were carrying a bottle of beer.
"Not for me..." I sassed, but quickly bit my lip.
How can I be sassy in such a position?
The black-hair girl, the waitress, all scared and trembling in the corner, was covered in tears.
It immediately hit me what they were thinking of doing. Manhandling a woman. "Let her go! Or..." I hissed, declaring my threat with a steady voice.
"Or what?" The thinnest of them all, jutted his jaw. "Don't be like that, sugar." Laughter started.
He came closer until he almost reached me, trying to grab me by the arm. But I was prepared.
So prepared.
He didn't even blink when I swiftly flipped him straight high into the air and slapped his back into the floor as the impact made him wince in pain.
For my own satisfaction I additionally pinned him deeper to the ground by pushing my foot into his stomach.
"I'm no one's sugar!"
Another man growled. "Why you little..." The punch that almost made contact with my jaw, slid further into the air, missing the target. And the same went for the second attempt. But as I tried pushing them away, the crowd got even larger, indulging me all around.
I sighed in relief. At least the girl escaped. Thank god.
Then someone forcefully tucked me by the hair, making me scream. With a rag, one of the men tried to silence me up. I could feel my vision getting blurrier as I continued inhaling the scent. Chloroform.
But the pain vanished as fast as it came. The one that was now yelling were the men.
Kid

He knocked every one of them with hard shots. Not even one was missed.
With his own two hands he grasped the attacker's head in his hands and brought his knee cap to the bully's nose. But before the black-haired guy fell, another one edged closer to Kid's frame. He surely anticipated this as he drew his fist back and ploughed it into the stomach of another drunkard's stomach.
"You sh*** bas****s! I am gonna rip all of your f***ing heads!" Kid roared.
And as if they were asking for more, two threw themselves onto Kid, the third one closely following them. Then something glittered. A sharp object.
"Watch out!" I cried.
The redhead reached to his suit pocket and took a gun.
There was so much blood.
If it were still daylight, I probably wouldn't have gotten scared. But the undeniable look when his eyes looked up through lowered brows, his lips partially parted, formed into a triangular shape, made me shudder-only for fraction of a second, before I called out for him.
"Y/n? Are you alright?" Kid asked, his voice trying to sound controlled. His bruised fists were clutched together.
"Yes." I croaked, feeling a bit uneasy on my legs. "Thanks to you...Did that girl come back to the..."
"Did you even think, you moron!"
He halted in his steps when he saw me trembling, but then steadily strutted to my direction.
His warm hands cupped my face, forcing a direct eye-contact with his red ones.
"Don't you dare do that again!" Kid led me to the car
"Get it." he demanded, his teeth still gritting.
Without trying to refuse his command, I jumped into the seat, slamming the door behind me.
"Hey...look...I'm..." I stopped in mid-sentence when I saw something unusual. His suit was ripped, a wound openly showing while blood slowly poured out of it.
"You are bleeding!"
