Chapter 32

~~~
I never thought I would live to see this day.
Being trapped under a tone of define raw muscle, that is.
And suffocation was not so far from it. Just one move and I will be squashed into a pancake. I thought. Hazy memories from the confession mixed with the emotions I was feeling at the moment. I remember that after I had stayed close to him and whimpered in into his clothes like my life depended on it, he carefully placed me on the bed and covered me entirely with the thin sheet.
Everything that proceeded from that point on was blank. Null.
"Kid... I can't breathe!" I yelled, praying to every god I could remember to spare me from the painful death I was apparently destined to have. The light snoring stopped, but the grip didn't loosen. That son of a...He is just pretending!
"Kid, move, you big oaf!" I repeated, adding the flippantly pronounced words so he would know how serious I was.
"Mmm..." He mumbled and instead of being irritated, I burst into something that was like a cross between a snort and a drunken laughter. Gazing at his calm features was a privilege where not many people had the chance to witness the untamed beast sleeping so peacefully. But vulnerable was not a word that could fit his description at that point. The feeling of authority and menace was still detectable and the fright to actually wake up the mafia boss was beyond everyone's wildest dreams.
"For the love of fuck...Mousy, you better shut that beautiful mouth of yours before I put it to good use."
"Idiot!" I gasped. "The way you flirt is just s-shameful." I tried to imagine the expression he was making behind me, but only a wide ubiquitous grin was appearing in my mind. A gentle flush of pink had arisen in my cheeks.
"Oh, I managed to make you embarrassed, huh?" He sultry purred, when he himself noticed the colorfully colored tips of my ears.
"N-no! Whatever! J-just move!"
"Snappy, aren't we?" Kid moved in for a kiss and I felt the graze of his lips against my neck – a gesture that would have made my stomach crunch in displeasure if it was someone else, but now I felt my head spinning from the calmness and radiating warmth. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were trying to seduce me."
"S-seduce?" I mentally slapped myself. No, cross that. I had slapped myself so many times that my head literally spun into the soaring heights of regret. Cursing myself for the stuttering persona I'd turned into, a familiar flow of nostalgia washed over me. It was just like being in elementary school all over again, giggling and hiding things behind the strict grade teacher we used to have and messed with.
I gasped. It seemed the redhead noticed my drifting thoughts as he gently bit into my susceptible flesh, efficiently leaving a mark.
"Don't sound so surprised, mousy." He mocking scolded. "If you really insist of getting away from me, the let's play a game, shall we?"
I shuddered at the inconceivable results of his so called 'game'. He wouldn't have proposed something that wouldn't be beneficial to his liking.
"What kind of game?" I cautiously tottered over my words.
"Nothing special... It' s easy very easy to sum it into a word, mousy."
My patience was wearing off, as well as my heart condition. Don't just leave me in suspense!
"Game of mouse and cat."
Go figure...
"Kid, apparently we've received some unexpected visitors." The redhead turned his gaze towards Killer and frowned. It was one of the usual expressions which he had made before he continued speaking in a snappy tone and annoyingly sighed, flipping his wild hair back to the base of his neck. But he unfortunately couldn't do that. And the reason was probably me. I was sadly being carried under his arm like a wild cat that was ready to devour every single being in the house. All thanks to his unfair 'bet' that he had proposed to me. Before I realized the meaning behind his words, he ominously grinned and began counting down my advantage 5 second time. "5...4...You better start running. Or the consequences will be severe." I instinctively reacted with a simple shriek before storming off and hiding somewhere until his head would have cooled down a bit. However, fast as he was, he caught me.
And here I was. Primitively groaning and hissing at him, while he nonchalantly ignored me and talked to the blond. Of course, his obedient minion wasn't perplex nor interested in my desperate pleading, only amused by the fact that I was furious as a harpy. One of this days Killer...One of this days you will pay back for your ignorance! I murmured.
I assumed Kid had understood my mumbling and shoot Killer a 'take no notice to her' look. "The hell with it. Do you know who this 'guest' is? Was Trafalgar notified about it?"
"Yes. He was the first one to know. Bonney and Bartolomeo are already in the conference room, though, I'm not 100% sure if Capone decided to attend the conversation or not. By the looks of the man, an advocate, he seemed a bit distressed and apprehensive."
I opened my eyes wider, creating a tiny tug from the corners of my mouth, beginning: "A guest? Visitor? Maybe they've got some information regarding the incident." I smile, hoping the fake cheerfulness would break the ice and ease the unexplained anxiety I had.
And that was how their synchronized looks shattered my tranquility. "You know him. A cross and crescent moon." I glanced upward to the redhead, my mouth pursed but slightly open and loose. My eyes are fixed as if I was looking at something a yard behind my head. I blinked. A cross and crescent moon? What does that mean? A code?
A minute passed, when an axe cut the interval as he uttered his final decision, suddenly being all serious. "Y/n...Don't leave this place. Stay." Kid didn't wait for my affirmation nor for my resistance. He ingenuously released me and exited the now empty living room with Killer. Before both of them stepped into the long hallway, the blond had threw me a gaze, giving me a silent encouragement. Yet, never assuming him to be such a prudent persona, I caught myself being all stunned and only nodding at his silent request.
The hypnosis lasted until they both disappeared from my sight and I had the chance to regain my consciousness.
Why should I just stand here and do nothing? At least, I can take a quick peak. I huffed. I don't understand why do they have to be so secretive with me?
And Kid...Doesn't he trust me?
My gaze wandered to the gigantic conference room, my mind focused on it like a cat fixated upon its prey.
To be continued ...
