o5.| WANDA
HER NIGHTS WERE USUALLY FILLED WITH DREAMS OF HER DEATH. It didn't help that the longer she knew about her health slowly dwindling to nothing but her impending doom, she dreamt about it more and more. Jasmine always projected her fears onto herself, which meant that they were going to follow her no matter where she went. It didn't matter if she was alone in her lab or if she was going for a walk outside of the Compound. She was going to think about everything that was going on around her. Death was a normal part of life, but she couldn't help but think of the fact that she could stop it.
She was a genius, so incredibly smart that she knew that she could think of a way to save herself, as well as all of those around her. But the longer that she thought about it, the more that she would probably have to rely on Project Synthesis. She didn't want to have to think about the project that she had archived into her computer system, but when she had pulled it out, she couldn't help but think about it. She couldn't help but want to read into the research that she had created months ago.
It wasn't a dangerous project. It wasn't something that S.H.I.E.L.D had plotted and never studied before putting into the field. It was something that she had experienced for herself and knew that it would work whether the Avengers wanted to upload their consciousness into hard drives and save themselves from impending death. She wanted to be able to help them, but she knew that they would want her to be able to help herself before any of them.
A heavy sigh left her lips as she threw a long coat over her shoulders and began to make her way over toward her lab. Jasmine glanced through the glass doors, before pushing her way over toward her desk. The white screen stared at her for a few seconds, before she typed in her password and she extracted the file for Project Synthesis. The dark-haired woman glanced down at the headset that would upload her consciousness into the hard drive that she had for emergencies, and she knew that as soon as she did it, she couldn't go back.
That as soon as she extracted her personality and everything that made her, her, there was no way for her to go back. Everything about her would continue to upload onto the file, no matter how much longer she lived after the initial upload. Everything that she did had a consequence, and she knew that all too well. She couldn't mess with the balance of life without consequences. There were so many things that the world would do in retaliation if she had done what she was thinking of. She didn't want to do something that would later bite her in the ass.
Without thinking, Jasmine began to read through the research that she had created for herself. She tilted her head to the side as she stared at everything that she had ever found. IT was solid research. The way that she put everything in the file made her realize that it was something that was very possible. But the longer that she read through it all, the more that she wanted to go through it all. The longer that she wanted to figure out a way to save herself with Project Synthesis.
But then all of the thoughts that she had about the project flooded in and the inner turmoil that she had blown up in her face.
A sigh left her lips as she threw her face in her hands. Jasmine let out a heavy sigh as she shook her head and she stared down at the counter in front of herself. Little did she know as she sat on the counter, there was someone standing in the doorway of her lab. They watched as she sat there in the dimly lit room, before knocking on the doorframe.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Jasmine lifted her chin and she found Wanda standing there for a few seconds. The woman tilted her head to the side for a few seconds as she stared at Jasmine, before offering her a small smile, "I could tell that you weren't sleeping." She glanced Jasmine up and down, before letting out a small sigh. "Is everything alright? You've seemed very on edge after the meeting."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I'm alright, thank you, Wanda," Jasmine sighed as she sat back in the seat that she was in. She watched as the other woman made her way into the lab, her brows furrowed as she stared at her. It was easy for Jasmine to see that the other woman didn't believe her. She didn't blame her for not believing her for the small little white lie she was telling. Jasmine was surprised that she believed herself. "I can't stop thinking about it, my impending death. There are so many factors that play into it and I know that I can figure out a way to stop it."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Wanda gave her a small smile, "You're one of the smartest people that I know. I have no doubt that you would be able to figure out a way." She inhaled deeply. "But are you sure that you would want to waste your final days stressing over this?"
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I don't know . . . I've never really done anything else but my work," Jasmine explained as she shrugged her shoulders, and she watched as a small smile appeared on the dark-haired woman's lips.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Perhaps you could do something with Vision?" Wanda suggested, which made Jasmine press her lips together. "It couldn't hurt. It would do the two of you some good, not just you."
She knew that she was right.
It would do Jasmine some good to do something other than worry herself about what was going on with her health. If she continued to sit around and worry about her health condition, it was going to hasten the death that was already on its way. But she had to figure out what it was that she could do to distract herself. It was a good suggestion, to find something that she and Vision could do.
But that meant that she was going to have to think about what it was that the two of them could do that didn't involve her work. And that was going to be the most difficult task for her to think about over the course of the night. Though, it was better than drowning herself in her work.
She would rather do anything other than that.
