Chapter 23
*Bhairavi Pov*
"I can look after all these, Princess. Why don't you go and have a glimpse at the fights happening outside the palace?" Governess asked when we are standing in the chamber which was used to be my Parent's but the décor and a few other things got changed in these few days.
"No! The chamber attached to this was always unused before, so is it cleaned like I asked?" I questioned her pointing at the door through which we can walk inside that chamber if we want from this King's Chamber also along with the corridor outside.
"Yes! It has also got a new change inside it." She replied and I nodded before stepping near the door.
This was supposed to be my Mother's but she never used it like the before generations as my Father always step to the new one's leaving the old traditions. I will not let it pass to the next, but for me I need this space.
"A working table similar to the old one has been brought from the Council Chambers and placed in the working room." She added when I continued to stare at the door.
"I need my things to be shifted into this Chamber." I uttered pointing at the Queen's place and stepped out of the King's chamber.
"Are you happy with all this, Princess?" She questioned when I just stood near the steps.
At the same time we heard the hoots of joy from outside and I turned around mumbling "They seem to be."
"What happened in Nadir, Princess?" She continued to Question.
"Something which I do not want to think about forever." I replied and walked away to look after a few other things that needed to be done before the coronation and before a King of Agatha enter this Palace.
"I cannot show my gratitude enough for helping me in making them accept to the Non-Slave order and for this competition." I mumbled to King Vali who stepped inside the workroom regarding the new order.
"I am glad that someone is there to think about the things to which no one gives any importance, but this will change many people's lives. So, I can see that you are not happy with all these then why didn't you accepted to marry me like the Council suggested?" He questioned and I actually hoped he would never ask it.
"I do not want a ruler of another place to become one for this as their effort will be shared which I do not want. The person should give his everything to this Kingdom like me." I replied, glancing away, but he didn't look like he believes it.
"And I am not actually pure which is not a simple thing a ruler of already a Kingdom accepts." I added having a trust in him that he will not think wrongly about me.
"You need not worry about that as I can understand. But like the council decided if no one won with you then I am more than glad to take your hand in matrimony." He simply uttered, and I nodded, hoping he will not because I do not want to disrespect him with staying away.
"Some people are here to meet you. Do you have time?" He questioned, glancing at the work I spread on the new table which will be used by me from now on while the old one will be given to the King as a respect for his position.
"No! I will meet them after the coronation. At present I have things to do." I replied and he left the chamber.
Am I really getting married today? I thought, feeling my eyes burning with tears, but I commanded myself to not let them out and show the weakness.
"You had your wish to see how it will be to follow your heart and only your desire. What did you get in the end? The person who did not trust you and not respect you. This is for the best, Bhairavi. This is for everyone's best." I talked to myself and took a deep breath before standing up to get ready for the fights.
*Alastair Pov*
"Oh lord!" I mumbled stepping back before kneeling down on the ground and Colton rushed to me.
"It is over! You did well, Alastair." He assured me and I nodded, glancing at the person whom I defeated.
"How are these called harmless fights?" I questioned feeling the sword wounds burning on my shoulders and other parts of the body.
"You should have rested, Alastair. Because you got them when you shouldn't and even the people are surprised for your wounds who inserted them on your flesh." Colton explained and I nodded because it is true.
"Now all you need is to fight with Bha... Princess and defeat her. You are to be fought at last as you do not belong to royalty, so have some rest until then." He uttered dragging me away and made me lie on the ground where the King and Queen are already present.
"This will soothe your wounds." Jacey mumbled and made Colton apply some paste she got from a person who looks after the wounds.
"We heard from King Vali that she is not going to meet anyone before the coronation." His highness uttered and I nodded.
"Princess!" Everyone hailed making me open my eyes and see that she entered the ground covered in the protective shield like everyone.
"Come on, Bhairavi." I mumbled and got a look of disdain from a person sitting near to us which we are getting everytime we do not use her title.
"Alastair!" I heard Colton whispering and opened my eyes to see him staring at me.
"She defeated both of them and you need to defeat her because we just found out something else." He whispered.
"What is it?" I questioned sitting up.
"If no one defeats her then she will be married to King Vali as per Council order." He replied and I stared at him in shock.
"No!" I mumbled to myself and stood up.
I took a cloth from near the Colton which I have been using since the beginning of the fight to cover my face in case if she comes to watch any of it and stop me from doing it.
"If she is yours in the true sense, then you will win." Her highness uttered, and I nodded before stepping near her.
I stared at her face and can tell that she is tired and covered with dirt with the two fights. She is not staring at anyone except at her sword and is looking like a goddess.
"He is not a royalty." My introduction was given which is being used from the first fight.
"So?" She questioned the Council member who requested her to consider the fight as I am not royalty.
With the ringing of the bell she gave a first strike, but I stopped it with my sword. For sometime we continued in the same manner. She would strike and I would stop her, but I never took a step to strike her.
However, after a few moments she got successful in striking making the sword touch at the already wounded part with which blood flow began and she glanced at the wound in shock.
"Seems to me that King Vali will win this fight." A Council member uttered, and that's when I returned the strikes.
We both continued to fight for so long with a lot of distance between us which should be as per the rule. Few people came closer to us making the area of fighting to reduce with which we had to stand closer.
In an attempt to take a strike she pushed the sword with great force and I pushed the sword forward with which her back got pressed to my front and our swords got locked before her.
"My heart is still with you, Bhairavi." I whispered in her ear, making her still but she slowly removed herself from me.
With the use of the sword she pulled the cloth covering my face away and stared at me with complete shock because of which we both stopped the fight and everyone stood in silence.
"What are you doing here?" She questioned with a masked face.
"Fighting for you!" I replied, to which she tightened her grip on the sword.
"You are the future ruler of Nadir. You are not to be participated in this as per the rules." She uttered, and glanced at the person who is conducting these.
"I gave up the land, a few days before." I retorted and she again stilled in her stance.
"You need to walk away, Alastair." She whispered, not glancing at me.
"Why? Fight with me, Bhairavi." I whispered back.
"I will not let you win." She mumbled, turning to stand before me.
"I had to die to lose this and I am more than glad for it as I can't be without you. So, go ahead." I uttered, and she closed her eyes for a few moments and then opened them with a strike towards me.
I took the blow getting hurt at my ribs and glanced up to see her blank expression, making me close my eyes with a self talk to hope that she will forgive me one day maybe not today.
She finally gave a last strike which made her point the sword at my chest, but got still while I took it as a chance and threw her sword away with mine making everything still around us and her hand is still in a way like holding a sword.
She is the first one who composed herself and left the place to go inside the palace after nodding at the Council and the people. They all started hailing for me without even knowing my name and Council gave into the idea that I won the fight.
"You have won!" Colton uttered stepping near me along with Jacey with the liquid for my wounds.
"Yes! But I have many things to do from this point." I mumbled still glancing at the way she left.
