Amethyst's P.O.V

"Mom? Can we take Cinnabun on a walk?" CJ asks.

"I don't care, just be careful!" Mom says. I grab Cinnabun's leash and attach it to her collar, which was difficult since she could not stop moving around. We head outside and head down the street.

"I wonder if we took the leash off of her, would she stay around us?" CJ asks.

"I don't think so. She might have if she was a tiny puppy, but since she older, she might run away." I explain.

"But why would she run away?" He asks.

"Because she's curious about everything."

"Yeah, probably not the best idea." CJ says.

"Really?" I ask in a sarcastic voice. Cinnabun suddenly pulls on her leash and runs back towards where the woods are, taking me with her, in which I almost lose my balance. CJ runs up next to me. "Cinnabun! What are you doing?!" She pulls us deep into the woods and starts barking up a tree.

"Cinny! Stop!" CJ exclaims. I tug on the leash and Cinnabun turns around and starts wagging her tail.

"Um, CJ, do you know how to get home?" I ask and look around. He turns in a full circle and points behind me.

"Pretty sure we came from that way." He says and runs in that direction. I sigh and follow him.

====== Time Skip ======

"Are you sure this is the way we came from?" I ask.

"Yes." CJ says.

"I'm pretty sure it didn't take this long to get into the woods." I say. I look up and notice that it's getting dark out. "Do you have your phone on you? I left mine on my bed." I ask. CJ nods and pulls his phone out. He presses on Dad's contact, but before anything could happen, his screen went dark. "Did it just go dead?!"

"I forgot to charge it!" CJ says, defending himself. I stare at him.

"You-oh my god. How the hell are we supposed to get out of here?!" I yell in annoyance. Cinnabun suddenly whimpers and she backs up until she reaches my legs. She sits down and presses against them. "Cinny, what is wrong?" I look over in the direction she was looking.  There is a dark figure standing a couple hundred feet away. I gasp. "C-CJ, wha-what is that?!" I ask and back up. CJ looks in my direction and walks slowly towards the figure. As he does, the figure then starts to walk towards us. CJ stops and backs up. The figure then starts to run towards us. I quickly pick Cinnabun up and CJ and I run away as fast as we can. CJ suddenly pulls on my arm and pulls me into a cave of some sort. I peek out of it just after the figure runs past. I look over at CJ and see that he's panting badly. "Ceej, I'm scared." I say and huddle up against him. We both sit down on the floor and I let Cinnabun go, but hold on to her leash.

"I know. I am too. How are we going to get back? We've probably traveled deeper into the forest running from that guy." CJ says.

"Do you think Mom and Dad are looking for us?"

"Well yeah. It's pitch black out and we were supposed to be home before dark. I'm sure they've got everyone looking for us." He explains. I slide down the wall and lean back.

"But how in the world are they gonna find us? We are so deep in the woods right now, there is no way they'll find us without getting themselves lost." I explain.

"Well, they have powers, so it might be easier for them to navigate through here." CJ says. I forgot about that.

"Why the hell don't we have powers?! Literally everyone in our family has them, why don't we?!" I ask in confusion.

"Mom said that everyone's powers didn't really develop until a later age. Well, her and Ty's powers developed when they were in elementary, but Dad just got his a few years ago." He explains.

"That probably explains everything then." I sigh. I suddenly feel extremely exhausted. I yawn and lay my head on CJ's shoulder. I close my eyes and drift off into an uncomfortable sleep.

Hi!

So that happened. UGH! Why can't this schools year be over yet... (I'm just complaining. It literally started last Wednesday... 2 of my cousins started school today and my youngest one (that's currently in school) started the week before I did. My other cousin doesn't start till after Labor Day... (KENZI WHY?!))
