Chapter twenty six

Makayla's POV

"Ahhh!"

Just walking to the pod, I heard screaming from the other end. Rushing in panic, Izzy screamed with cries. Kyra walked out confused with a heavy sweater and sweatpants. "Karen, no!" Izzy fell to the ground, hugging herself with tears. Poor girl.

I tower over her looking at Karen's lifeless body. "This is your fault."

I don't know who she's talking about, but I'm assuming it's me. The others came to see what the ruckus was. "This is all you! This is your fault!" she screamed at us adults.

We stood looking at one another not sure what to say. Leaving her to mourn, we adults left them, Daniel and Ethan going to hollar the body away. Sitting in the foods room drinking iced water, Daniel and Ethan came back.

None of the teens are in the foods room with us. I didn't expect Izzy and them to be here, but I did expect Jaydon, Kyra and Kylie to be here.

"How many girls are left, including you two?" Ethan asked.

"Including us, there is Izzy, Kyra, Kylie, Vivian. Only six of us." Autumn said.

"How many guys left?" I ask.

"There's us two, plus Jaydon . . . Daylan, Cory. So five."

"Eleven of us in total." Daniel said.

"We're going down pretty quick," I say.

"We are," replied Autumn.

I'm assuming that only four of us will live, and who knows who that could be. Sitting at the table talking, Kyra came in, skidding by, rummaging through the fridge, then heading back out with a water bottle. Not even a hello. So sad.

Continuing to talk, we moved to the library so we have more space and be by ourselves. With nothing else to do, Autumn pulled out the cards and shuffled, dealing them out. Playing Blackjack, we talked. Enjoying ourselves as we live through this nightmare. Playing as a group as just the four of us is great. Spending time with them is what I need right now. Chilling away, I glance outside to see Kyra and Jaydon playing basketball as Kylie stood on the sideline, filming. They seem to enjoy themselves, so that's okay with me. "And I'm done." Ethan said, placing his cards right side up. Getting nineteen, I place my hand down as does the other two.

"I win." Daniel exclaimed with twenty one.

Jaydon's POV

Shooting hoops with Kyra as Kylie stayed on the sidelines filming them. Passing the ball to Kyra, she took the shot missing the basket by inches. "Dammit. Missed it by a mile."

"A mile?" Kylie asked, bringing her phone down after filming.

"Yeah, 'missed it by a mile.' Have you ever seen one hundred Dalmatians?"

"No."

"If we ever make it out of here, you and I are going to watch it. At my place."

"If we make it out."

The bolled bounced away as Kyra walked to grab it. "Think fast." Kyra chucked the ball towards Jaydon as he caught it, bounced it a couple of times and shot it into the basket. "Nice shot, Jaydon." Kylie replied.

"Thanks."

"Hey, I've got to go. I've got things I've got to do."

"Okay . . . bye." Kyra said with sadness. She left without another word, without another glance. "I guess it's just you and me, darling."

"You know I hate it when people call me pet names."

"I know, but it's adorable when you hate it."

"Hmm."

She wrapped her arms around his neck smiling. Then she pulled him out of the library view, hoping her mother wouldn't notice. Twirling around, he wrapped his arm around her, walking towards the hill leaving the ball behind. Walking around the school, Jaydon clung onto Kyra as tight as possible, not letting her go.

He brought Kyra down with him as he fell to the ground holding her tight. Kyra laughed curling up beside him. Sitting up, Jaydon glances over unexpectedly tickling the life of her.

It's a nice day to do this. "Stop." Kyra said in between laughter. Squirming under him, Jaydon stopped letting her calm down. Looking into those shining eyes of hers, Jaydon parted away, leaning down resting his forehead against hers. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she leaned up to kiss him. He felt her heartbeat underneath him. "You know I love it when you do that."

"I know."

Laying back on the grass, Kyra curled up looking at the sky. They both enjoyed vitamin D. "How come . . . you never told me before that you're a killer?"

"Didn't want to freak you out."

"Really? I don't get creeped out real easily. You'll have to go beyond to freak me out."

"Like?"

"I'm not going to tell you."

"Okay, I'm just going to have to find out."

"Goodluck."

Kylie's POV

Sitting with Izzy and them, she told everything that she knew about Jaydon and Kyra. "They are together. I believe they are dating."

Stabbing them in the back was hellavo good plan. Faking that Izzy forced her to do drugs and make out with someone is the best plan to fool everyone. Kylie didn't care about them. Being friends with Izzy, Vivian, Daylan and Cory is the best thing that happened to her. She can be free and be herself. No rules or an adult to tell them what to do. It's an amazing feeling. "Did they kiss?" Cory asked.

"I don't know. They wouldn't seem to do anything unusual in front of me. But I tried to spy on them and they were close until they parted away, like they know I'm watching them."

"Aww, I wanted to know if they did." Izzy whined.

"Same here." Daylon cried.

Sitting around the outer circle in the center of the circle, they talked about Jaydon and Kyra. Kylie loved talking about the behind their back. A lovely feeling. "Yo, Daylon, do you have a cigarette that I can smoke?" Kylie asked about having some nicotine. "Right here." Tossing Kylie the cigarette and the lighter. Sticking the cigar into her mouth, cupping the end, lighting it. Inhaling, letting the smoke enter her lungs before exhaling.

Since she started hanging out with the kids, she started getting into smoking and alcohol. Izzy and Cory snuck in alcohol for fun to share with the others. Getting Kylie into this stuff took her a bit but finally convinced her enough to do it.

Giving Daylan the lighter, he took out the cigar and lit one. Passing the lighter and cigar to Izzy and Cory.

Each of them inhales in the smoke, exhaling. The smoke rose up into the air. Filling the space of the gym. Smelling of campfire smoke, they continued where they left off. "I would love to see Jaydon and Kyra get together. It would be amazing. But I'm still sad that he's taken." Izzy chirped.

"It would, but it's still sad. You guys would've made a cuter couple." Kylie puffed out the smoke from her body. "They would make a cute couple. I mean a really cute couple." Kylie replied after another puff.

"I know. They are meant for each other." Cory replied.

Just then, at that moment, Jaydon walked in with a basketball in his arm. Opening the door, he went in, dropped the ball off in the basket, then headed back outside. Curious to know what those two are doing, they followed out keeping a good distance from Jaydon. Kylie is going to eavesdrop on them.
