Chapter twenty five
Daniel's POV
He hates leaving his family. Telling Maya that her ex fiance has escaped prison left him scared and cautious. Who knows what Nik is doing right now? He knows what he's capable of. Maya and Daniel, plus the others know what Nik is capable of.
Sitting in the purple pod where the other three sat, Daniel is lost in his own thoughts.
What could Nik be doing to get his revenge on me?
On us?
Not only is Daniel worried for Maya, but also his daughter. She doesn't know Nik, doesn't know what went down long ago when he was killing innocent people. She's too young. "Daniel, you okay?" Looking up at the other three, Makayla stood out with concern.
"Yeah . . . I'm okay. Just lost in thoughts."
"About what?" Autumn asked.
"I'm worried for Maya and Lily. She's too young to know what Nik did and who he is."
"Yeah, I get that." Ethan answered in agreement.
"Who knows what he's planning?"
"Is he that bad?" Makayla asked.
"Yes, it's bad. He wanted to kill Maya after marrying her and framing it as an "accident." I can't believe he wanted to do that to her."
"Really? Wow." Autumn surprised and shocked me.
"Yeah."
"Well I'm sure he won't hurt them, let alone go near them. They'll be okay." Ethan encouraged Daniel.
"Thanks."
Whatever they say, it makes Daniel a bit better, but not fully calm. Makayla checked her phone. "It's a quarter to five, should we make dinner?"
"Sure." Ethan said.
Everyone stood up and walked to the food room. Getting everything ready, Daniel and Makayla got the food as Autumn and Ethan got the dishes out. Washing the lettuce for salad, Daniel set it aside for Makayla to peel and set it in the bowl. Autumn and Ethan got the chicken ready and set it into the oven.
Soon enough, everything is finished. The buns for the chicken burgers on a plate piled on one another. The salad was ready and sat on the counter. Mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise and relish is set. Cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce are set in bowls. The chicken burgers came out of the oven.
"Let's get everyone and start digging." Ethan said.
Nik's POV
Sitting at his desk, he got a phone call. Picking up on the second ring, he answered calmingly.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Nik. I need to know when to do it."
"Closer to the end, they won't expect what's coming, especially Daniel."
"Okay."
"Don't worry, sweetie, it'll be alright. It will work."
"It's better."
"Look, trust me. It will. I've done worse, I wanted to do worse. It will work."
"Okay. When am I going to see you next?"
"When the day comes. I will give you notification beforehand."
"Okay."
Just as Nik was about to hang up he heard something that he probably shouldn't have. "Are you still there?"
"Yes I'm here."
"Where are you?" Something bothered him. "In my room, why?"
"Is anyone there with you?"
"No."
At that, he hung up the phone. Sighing, Nik placed the phone back on the receiver continuing his work on the computer. Making a plan of what will make the games they are playing even better. Hijacking the games will make Daniel pay. They won't know what's coming. Nik hollard laughs uncontrollably. Calming down, Nik left into the kitchen to get himself a beer to drink. Overlooking the city, the cars driving by, people walking with their friends, family, walking their dogs. Joggers. All those people who have no idea what's going on.
"Clueless, bastards." whispered under his breath before taking a sip. Leaning against the window, he looked through the window, the clouds sweeping from the west. Rain pours on the people as they scurry for cover. Smiling as Nik watched them suffer. He loved it when people suffered. He's a sadist.
It's the best thing in the world for him. That's how he entertained himself. Finishing his can of beer, Nik walked to the couch and clicked the TV to life. Scrolling through the channels, Nik couldn't find anything interesting. Instead, he flipped to the news where the news reporter spoke about the incoming games. Turning the volume up, the women spoke with concern.
" . . . Six innocent people died. Four men and two women. Two adults and four teenagers had their life taken."
Noticing they are filming at the school. How are the people at the school not noticing this? The rain came down hard on her as her hood was pulled over her head for cover, squinting in the rain to see. "Someone's got to notice them, right?" Nik said under his breath. Starring the news reporter, he didn't notice that they switched over. Listening to the evening news, Nik almost fell asleep on the couch. It was boring. Turning the TV off, getting up to take a quick shower.
Afterwards, hanging the towel, Nik went straight to bed.
Killer's POV
Shifting through the hall, she entered the purple pod. Knowing where her victims' room is, she ran to the door, snaking in. Pulling her rope and bloody cloth out, the killer did her routine before she started. Karen started screaming and squirming as she tied her up.
Pulling out the butcher knife, she traced it all over Karen's body. She squirmed as she tried to move away from the killer. Lifting her body, Karen twisted out of the killer's grasp, running to the door. She jumped from the couch and ran after her. Catching her at the doors of the pod, she wrapped her arms around her waist and arms, struggling. Bringing her down to the ground,
Swinging the butcher knife around her face, bringing it down to her breasts, slicing it open. Screeching at the pain, Karen cried as the killer punctured a whole dragging the knife down to her crotch. Letting the blood pour out is satisfactory.
Blood poured through her mouth, gaping her last breath.
Standing up, hearing gasp in front of her, she looked up to see the killer. Him.
"Congratulations."
"What are you doing here?"
"Why, congratulating you for an excellent kill. You and her put on a great show."
"Thank you?"
"You are such a great killer, even for a girl."
"No that's just sexiest."
He laughed at the joke. Stepping over the corpse, she punched him in the arm, hard. "That doesn't hurt."
She punched him even harder. "Still doesn't."
Before hitting him again, he caught her arm in the nick of time. "Oh, boy. What am I going to do with you?"
"Fead me to the wolves." she said in a harsh tone.
"Well that's harsh, isn't it?"
"Not if you keep annoying me."
Ripping her arm away from his grasp. "What do you want?" she asked.
"What I want is to be your friend, hang at night. Get to know each other."
"Hmm? How about . . . no. I enjoy staying like this, not knowing you or being friends. I've got better things to do. Now will you excuse me, I've got to get back to bed. I'm very tired."
Walking back to her room leaving him alone. All she wants to do is kill and go to bed, not deal with him. Is that so hard to ask for?
