Chapter nine
Izzy's POV
Izzy sat in the gym with the others talking behind Kyra's back. "Look, she's quiet and always sticks to herself. Did you see her last night in the hallway? She panicked and cried like a baby. From what I've heard, her parents and the other adults have been through this before. So why don't they give us tips and leave us alone? I'm sure we teens can get through this." Izzy exclaimed.
"True." Cory said.
Fooling around in the gym, talking behind people's back. Izzy loved the people who suffer, whether that's mentally or physically. Izzy loves when people give her attention, she loves it. "I'm going to get a drink. I'll be back."
Izzy got up and left for the foods room. Walking out of the gym, she passes two adults, Samantha and Ethan. Giving them a death stare, they return it to her before walking off into the hallway. In the green pod, she paced to the foods room. It's deserted once she entered. Izzy walked slowly to the closest kitchenette possible. Opening the fridge to see food and one water bottle. Stealing the bottle, she walked back outside the class to the gym. Walking through the pod, she hears a mysterious voice calling her name. "Hello?" Izzy called. No answer, she continued to the gym.
Izzy, if you don't stop talking about people behind their back, you will die.
Izzy became freaked out. "Leave me alone!" she screamed.
Izzy kept on walking to the gym, luckily the voices were gone. Entering the gym with the others running around with basketballs. Izzy hates basketball so she sat on the bleachers drinking her water, looking on her phone. Not thinking about the voice, Izzy scrolled on the main page of instagram. Little did she know that it's a warning for her.
Lunch came around and everyone surrounded the counter to gather their food. Sandwiches and fruit laid on the table, with water, lemonade and diet coke. Izzy got what she wanted and sat at one of the tables. The others came to sit with her throughout the lunch hour. She searches through the room to find Jayden with that Kyra girl. Disgusted, she turned away, not going to do any drama until later. Izzy ate her lunch and drank her lemonade while talking with her friends. None of them are really her friends apart from Kylie and Karen. The rest are there for her attention. She talked about rumors going around in high school and around the city. Soon enough, everyone went quiet when the question went around.
Who's the killer?
Who's next?
Ethan's POV
Ethan sat with the others in the purple pod. "Who do you think killed the kid, Conner?" Ethan asked unsure.
"I don't know, but I doubt it's any of us. It's got to be someone who is fast and that he or she wouldn't be noticed. So it's got to be one of the teens, and it's definitely not Conner. That's for sure." Kylo explained. "I agree. I can barely move around without making noise, let alone roaming around at night without anyone waking up." Makayla said.
Ethan sat and listened, barely saying a word. Knowing that his daughter and him are here, he's worried that she'll die and he lives. Ethan either wants himself dead and she lives, or they both live. All he wants is Kylie to live and go home at the end, and not suffer from what he's been through before.
Sitting and listening, his daughter came from behind, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Hi dad." she whispered in her ear. "Hey, sweetie." sitting next to him on the couch, she leaned in close, almost about to fall asleep. "What's happening?" he asked.
"Nothing much." Kylie said lightly. Crossing her arms across her chest, Ethan wrapped his right arm around her. Still sitting and listening to the conversation, the rain poured harder and harder on the windows above. Soon enough, lightning flashed, then thunder came roaring above them. All the lights went out in a flash, as they sat in complete darkness. As the thunder roared above them, a figure stood by the doorway to the hallway. A short slender girl in torn clothing. Shoulder length, greasy black hair. Blood dripping from her chest, stitches all over her. Throwing her hand in her chest, she pulled out her heart. Ethan felt sick to the core. He knew who this was, so did everyone else.
Aria.
"You did this to me!" she screamed in horror. Aria pointed a skeleton finger to everyone in that room, stopping at Ethan. "You did this to me!" Aria screamed again. He could feel his heart drop to the pit of his stomach. Feeling his daughter tense up beside him. "You did this to me!" Her raspy voice screeched.
This time, Aria starts running towards Ethan. Standing up running back but he fell over the couch. She ran to him, knife in hand ready to stab him. Scooting back against the counter, she's inches away from him. Just then, the thunder roared once again and the lights flicked back on. Aria disappeared into thin air, into the darkness. Ethan's heart pounded twice as fast, like it's about to come out of his chest.
"Ethan, are you okay?" Kylo's voice echoed. "Ethan?"
Kylo caught his arm and helped him up. Beads of sweat rolled down his face, gripping the counter to keep him steady. "Dad?"
Shaking his head to clear everything that happened. "Did you see that? Her? Aria?" He asked. Still shaking. Everything about him was shaking from the horror. "Yes . . . Yes we saw that."
"If Aria's back to haunt us . . . then that means . . . everyone's back to haunt us." Makayla spoke, spooked.
"No, no, no!" Autumn cried in horror. "I can't live like this." her cry echoed the pod. Just then, Makayla went down, holding her head in pain. "Get out of my head!" poor Makayla screamed. Everyone is going crazy. "Dad? Are you okay?" his daughter looked at him with a scared expression. "Yeah." He took her in his arms. "I'm okay."
He lied. Ethan couldn't let Kylie see the fright in him. Everything's coming back to haunt them. Each and every single survivor. The new question is now going around.
Which dead person is going to come back?
Makayla's POV
"Get out of my head!" I screamed. I'm on the ground, on my knees. Holding my head feeling the screams. It pained like feeling thousands of knives stabbing me at once. They have come to haunt once again. My vision went blurry as I started to panic inside. "Makayla!" I heard Kylo scream faintly. I fell onto something, his lap. The screaming stopped as I heard Ethan telling his daughter that he's okay. Kylo must be stroking my hair as no one else is close enough. "The screams are back." I whisper barely audible. Kylo moves positions to get comfortable. I can't believe that the screams are back.
I sit up, leaning against his shoulder. My head is pounding, the light is flashing in my eyes. I bury my face in his neck. He stood up bringing me with him. "Is it over?" I ask. Another flash of lightening and a boom of thunder filled the midnight sky. I heard the clicking of the raindrops on the window.
"Yes, darling. It's over."
Dinner came around as we sat at a couple of tables. After what happened, I only took a tiny bit of food with a bottle of water. Even Ethan wasn't eating. We don't talk about what happened earlier. I stayed silent, along with Ethan. I scan the room to see Kyra with a boy, Jaydon I think. I smile softly that she's found a friend. Scanning the room, Kylie is with the others. I have a bad feeling about those kids, not Kylie, but the others. Izzy, Jesse, Karen, Jack, Cory and them. Something off and I love that Kyra isn't with them. Jaydon seems nice enough.
Kylo spots me spying on our daughter. "I think Kyra made a friend." I say smiling. Kylo looks over to where I'm looking. "And I don't like that." he continued to eat in disgust. "Why not? I have a bad feeling about Izzy and them. Always had since I've met them. He seems nice."
"I know. Too nice." Kylo glared back at them. "I don't mind now, but he gets too nice, then it comes close friends, then it gets even closer. Soon enough they'll be hugging, then kissing and then making out. That part is when they're dating, and I don't like it."
"Really? Come on. She's seventeen and she needs someone, especially now. All her friends are out there going to live. And she doesn't need us anymore, which is sad."
"Well . . . I don't know. I just don't want them fooling around at night. I know what teenage boys are like. Look, I'm sure he's a nice kid. I don't know if he's right for our daughter."
"Kylo, give it a chance. It's only the second day. If it doesn't go well, then we'll see. But give him a chance to see where it goes." I assure him. "Okay, one chance, but that's all he gets." he argued.
I stroked his arm as we ate. None of us wants to be here right now. Everyone stayed in the food room after dinner. Daniel, Samantha and Alan helped with the dishes as Kylo and I put the food away. It's still pouring out, thundering and lightening in May. Kyra and Jaydon stayed in the corner of the room together, talking and laughing. I could tell that Kylo is bothered by it. "Relax, protective dad." I sarcastically said.
Kylo leaned back against the counter, crossing his arms over his chest.
"I know, she will go after boys at some point. I feel like I'm losing her."
"Hey, you still have me."
"I know. You'll never leave me."
"I won't." Droplets on the window from the rain, pounded hard as the rain came down. Izzy and the gang left the room. We stayed in the food room until the rain lightened up, then stopped. The sky got dark as the stars came out soon enough it was time for everyone to head back to their rooms for a nice sleep. Kylo, Kyra and I headed to the portables. "Kyra, come with us for a bit. I want to talk." Kylo said, waving her over to the portable. I scoffed as I know that he wants to talk to her about Jaydon. Walking to the portable, I could tell Kyra's very confused. "Did I do something wrong dad?"
"No. I just want to talk."
Oh god. We enter the room, Kylo closing the door behind us. Turning on the light he started. "Okay, so your mother and I saw you talking with this kid, Jaydon is it?"
"Yes."
"Are you friends?"
"Yes?" her face gave it all away, she's confused.
"Just friends?"
"Yes, dad."
"Okay, just making sure."
I stood by watching and listening. "Dad, if ever you find a guy whom I will Love, I will always love you. So don't worry." She hugged him. She knew. "I just don't want to lose you, and you are running off with some guy, who I don't know and may not trust. I don't want you hurt. I know how teenage boys are." He kissed her on the forehead. "Please be careful."
"I will."
I walk over smiling. "I told you." I wrapped my arms around his shoulder and her back. "It's your dad, he will worry about you with boys." I pulled her in. "Just don't do anything stupid, or . . . sleep with him."
"Mom!" I chuckled for the fun of it. "I'm serious about it, don't want you two having fun in one room. I know it's just a friend, but . . ."
"I won't do anything like that, I promise. Plus we don't have protection." She looks at me, then looks at Kylo. "We're just looking out for you, Kyra. We don't want anything to happen to you. One day when you have kids, you'll realize what we mean. Just not now." Kylo exclaimed.
"I understand. Don't do anything stupid, and don't sleep with him. Got it."
"We love you." I say.
"Love you guys, too."
She gave us a long hug before letting go and heading back to her room. "This tells us that we did very good raising her from birth." I say.
"Yeah, we did good."
"I'm going to sleep, goodnight."
"Goodnight." Kissing, I let go and undress, slipping under the blanket and falling asleep.
