Chapter eight
Autumn's POV
She sat around the purple pod with the others. Talking about the past of the games. They caught up with her and all the things that happened while she was gone. Then afterwards, she explained what happened. Everything that she's been through. "Never mess with Autumn!" she screamed.
"I want to make it out of here alive without anyone attacking me." Autumn said with confidence. She wants to live instead of getting injured, let's hope that she lives through the two weeks.

Everyone had dinner in the foods room, talking about what it may be like. This will be their last full meal together as a whole before someone goes down tonight. Every second of every minute that passes, Autumn's heart skips a beat for nervousness. She remembers the first night like this. Autumn couldn't sleep until morning. When she found out that she survived the first night, Autumn was very appreciative that Miles volunteringly died first. Even though he died a tragic death, he did deserve it.
Just thinking about getting Autumn all hyped up. She could tell that the others around her are nervous too, more so on the adults since they've been through this before. Glancing out the small, rectangle window above the sinks, the sun is setting, which means it's almost time for the killings to start. Watching the sun set very slowly, Autumn gets up to place her plate in the sink.
Sitting back down at the table where the other five are, she listens deeply to the conversation, wiping her mind from the past of what she's been through so far. No matter how hard she tried to forget, it came back to haunt her and the rest of them.
Sitting at one of the tables, she watched youtube for the remainder of the night. When it's time for bed, Autumn dresses into her pajamas snuggling into the couch. Autumn dozed off into space as she thinks of what is going on. Thinking about everything that happened, all the events that lead up to now. Resting, Autumn fell asleep in no time. Thinking of how she could live and she couldn't live. Wondering if she'll make it through the first night.

"AHHHHH!"
Waking up in a jolt, Autumn ran out of the room with others peeking out with confusion. Some of the others come running into the blue pod with fright. "What happened?" Autumn asked in fright. "I heard screaming." Jesse cried, everyone came but one person. Jaydon went into someone's room. "AHHHH!"
He came out with a terrified look. Autumn knew then and there that someone died.
"He's . . . he's . . . dead," he said with trembling words, pointing with shaking fingers.
"Who died?" Daniel asked.
"Conner."
Kylo's POV
"Everyone, calm down. Let's go back to bed and we will sort this out in the morning." Kylo commanded, assuring everyone that it will be okay. Everyone headed back to their rooms in each pod. His daughter trailed behind him and his wife. Hearing his daughter weeping in the background, he and Makayla turned around. "What's wrong?" he asked. She shook her head wrapping her arms around herself. "I can't . . . I can't do this. I don't want to die."
"Aww, Kyra. Come here." He held his arms wide for her to go in. She walked to him, burying her face in his shoulders. "It's going to be okay, darling." Makayla said in a soothing voice. Makayla stroked her back, calming her down. Kylo felt her breath uneven as she sobbed into his chest. "Don't worry, the kills are done so no one will come and get you. I promise." Kylo assured her. He kissed her on the forehead, then Makayla did the same. "It's going to be alright, sweetie. We've been through this before. You're going to live, we won't let you die."
She nodded. "Let's go back to bed and sort this out in the morning. Shall we?"
"Yes." Kyra barely made out. They continued down the hall, dropping her off at her room, continuing down the hallway. He hated seeing his daughter so upset. But what could he do? What could anyone do? Going back into the room, he closed the door sliding down against it. Makayla stopped a few inches away from him, looking down with a worried expression in her eyes, Kylo can tells. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Makayla, you're a terrible, horrible liar. Tell me, what's wrong?" he demanded his voice stern and trembling a bit.
Deciding to join him at the door, she rests her head between his shoulder and neck. "I'm worried for her. For our daughter. She's scared and doesn't know what it feels like."
"It's going to be okay. We can help her, and will help her go through this. It's scary that we are back, but . . ."
Kylo wrapped his arm around his wife and pulled her close to him feeling her shake uncontrollably. Her breath shivered onto his skin. "It's going to be okay. We've been through this, we adults have been through this. We can help these kids get through this."
Kylo leaned his head against hers. "Lets go to bed and worry about it in the morning."
"It's the morning, Kylo."
"Okay, you know what I mean."
Makayla laughed before getting up. Kylo followed her into the couch bed. Crawling in, they both fell asleep, dozing into what will become their worst nightmare, and will haunt them until death.
The next morning, everyone gathered around Conner's room. Kylo remembers taking the bodies out with Hunter, but since Hunter died the last night of the games years ago, he will be taking out the bodies. "Ethan, come with me to get a blanket or something and we will take the body out." Kylo exclaimed. "You and I are going to take the bodies out everyday, like before."
"I don't like this, but I'm going to grow up and do it. It's going to smell bad."
Rummaging through the storage room, Kylo finds the old blanket that was used when they were here last. It's white stained brown with dried blood all over it. "Remember this?" Kylo held it up. "Yes."
Heading back, they lifted the body onto the blanket, with quick glances of the cuts on the corpse, and left with it, taking the corpse to the dumpster. Coming back in, everyone is already in the foods room. Meeting them there, the kids stayed with each other, apart from Kyra, and the adults stayed together. Ethan and Kylo met them at the counter. A few of them ate breakfast while some took drinks and others just sat talking. Kylo grabbed bottled water. For it only being Wednesday and the second day, everyone is already feeling depressed. Kyra stayed with Kylo and Makayla. At some point in the two weeks, he hopes that she'll warm up and go with the others. She's like her mom in some ways, and one way is that she's shy.
He loves them both equally, and his son. They are important to him and he couldn't live without them. Seeing his daughter scared, worries him. Kylo doesn't like it when he sees or knows his loved one is scared or hurt. "Are you better?" he asked Kyra.
She looked at him with sorrowful eyes and nodded sheepishly. "You don't seem sure."
The thing about Kyra is he can't tell if she's lying or not. "Yeah . . . yeah I'm sure," she said in a low whisper, barely audible to make out.
He is worried sick for his daughter. Kyra's never witnessed any of this kind of stuff, so he gets it. It traumatized everyone that survived for years. Talking about what happened and their past experience, Kyra left the room to do her own thing, probably grossed out. He wouldn't blame her. Soon enough, the kids left along with Samantha, Daniel, and Ethan. Kylo and Makayla went outside to the hill with a couple of trees for shade. Enjoying the beautiful, warm morning, they relaxed for a while before the rain came down on them.
Kyra's POV
I walk to the library to deliver the book back where I found it. Searching for another one, someone walked through the library door. Thinking it could be Kylie or my parents, I was wrong. "What type of book are you looking for?"
"Hi Jaydon." she said, eyeing the bookshelf for one more second before glancing his way. "I don't know. Something that would interest me, I guess."
He came closer to me, just inches away. "How come you're not with the others?" I ask.
"Not interested in their conversations. They talk horrible behind people's backs. Trust me, they're not good people. I know Izzy Pond. She's the worst of all."
"Why, what does she do?"
"Blackmails people. Rude and cruel. Turn people against others especially friends."
"Ahh. So you come running to me then?"
"Yeah, I guess. If you don't want me here I can go find something else to do."
"It's fine. I don't mind your company. Apart from my parents . . . I'm pretty much alone. You are not like the others and I like that."
"So you don't mind my presence?"
"No, not at all. I enjoy having someone around, like you."
I give a friendly smile towards Jaydon. "Whatcha wanna do?" I ask, hopefully not going to stand here all day and be bored. I glance outside to find the rain pounding on the windows and walls. "Can you play cards?"
"Yeah I can."
I walked to the shelf with cards, picking a random deck. I sat at one of the tables as Jaydon came and sat with me, I shuffled and dealt out to play Black Jack.
"Alright, you go first." I say, picking up my hand. He did what he needed to do, then it was my turn. We took turns picking the cards until he knocked on the table. We placed our cards down. "I've got twenty." he said with a sweet, gentle smile. "I've got eighteen. You win." I smile back.
"Another round?" I ask.
"Sure, there's nothing else to do."
He dealt out the cards and played another round. We played a few rounds, then headed out. We walked from the library to a room by the gym, taking a little detour that looked like a music room. As we walk in, there's two little rooms and one big room with a piano to the far left corner, a desk right by the room on the left as soon as we walk in, a stack of chairs by the other room on the right, and a shelf with instruments on the right as well, covering the whole right side of the wall. The walls are very yellowish brown and the flooring is black carpet. "My parents told me that when they played the games, two of their classmates were slaughtered here."
"How did they die? Did they tell you?"
"Yes. Apparently, their names were Evan and Andrew. The killer came in here and ripped them apart, then hung them by something with one huge puddle of blood underneath them. They said it was worse than they told me, though." I explained.
"Wow, that's gruesome and awful."
"People say if you come at the right time of night, you can see the ghosts of the people who died, and just how they died. I really want to experience some of the killings that happened in the past. To see what they complain about. You know, get prepared for the future and what will come."
"Yeah, I know what you mean."
"Live in the past."
We take a look around the music room, opening all doors to see where it leads. "I found the one that leads to the green pod? Is it a pod or an area?" he says.
"Pod I think."
He closed the door. "I might come here tonight and see how the kill happened. Want to join me?"
"Well . . . getting up in the middle of the night, plus the killer roaming around? No thanks, I can already view what happened. And it's scary."
I wouldn't blame him, but the thought of it made me really want to do it even more, even if I have to do it alone. "So . . . you're really going to do it tonight, alone?"
"Yes, just don't say anything to anyone."
"I won't."
