Chapter 4
About five minutes of standing and listening, Miles tugged at my hand. Looking at him, I realized he wanted me to run. Running behind him, he never let go of my hand. If anything, his grip tightened. He reached an old building, even older than the rest. He held a white dusty curtain open for me as I ran through. He followed soon after. Light pooled in through the cracks in the windows and doors. He walked upstairs calmly.
Like a lost puppy, I followed. We reached an old room that looked empty. There was only old chairs and a few scattered bricks. He walked over to one of the windows with wooden boards. Miles ripped one of the boards off and peeked through the window. The sirens seemed like they were outside.
"We can't stay here forever. We should have bailed." He said looking at me, worry in his eyes.
"Well then where do we go?" I asked. His lips turned into a thin line as his eyes went into full blown concentration.
"Come with me." He said, grabbing my hand and taking me through a few hall ways. We reached a place with a brick pathway. Because we were at the second floor, if you fell off it wouldn't be too much damage. He looked out for the police.

Walking next to him, I watched as a cop car rolled up with the sirens on. It stopped abruptly and two cops jumped out of the car. Each of them had guns and all that cop stuff. One was older, and the other was younger. I would say early twenties. Both had the same pale blue eyes and chestnut brown hair. Miles turned around and walked back into the dark. Sighing, I followed and jogged after him.
"This is the cops! Come out now and save us each a breath!" A distant voice said. I looked back at Miles.
"Follow me Katie. I know what to do when the police come." He said with his hand out for me to grab. I looked back to where the cops are.
"Can't we just shift and run back? They might think it was two regular wolves." I said. He huffed and stormed up to me.
"Yes. Two regular wolves carrying a backpack and clothes. Totally believable." He said, sarcasm laced in his voice.
"Well when you say it that way..." I drifted off.
"Come one. We have to get the laptop before the cops do." He said. Confused, I followed while asking questions.
"What's on the laptop?" I asked him.
"Everything." He said sternly looking at me.
