Chapter 3

This was the best sleep I have ever had. Looking around, I saw someone sleeping next to me. I blinked and remembered last nights events. I found my mate, his name is Miles. He likes skateboarding and hanging out at the old abandoned building. His favorite color is blue.

That's my mate for you. Looking down at Miles, I smiled at his adorable face. His mouth was slightly open and his hair was ruffled. Miles' hood was on the back of his head and one of his arms was under his pillow. The other arm was around my waist.

I smiled and switched his hand that was around my waist to be around a pillow. He rummaged a bit and pulled the pillow closer to him. Smiling, I put on my shoes and socks and got ready for the day. Looking outside, I saw the roads were damp which means it rained. That means it's cold. Going into my room, I throw on a white tee and black shorts and go back into his room. Shivering, I realized I needed something warmer. Looking around his room, I found nothing. His room is so clean.

"Good morning." He says. I smile and get under his comforter, warmth meeting me underneath.

  "Good morning Miles." I said.

"Why so cold?" He asked pulling me closer.

"I don't know. Today was extra cold today." I said. He pulled me even closer and sniffed my hair.

"You smell nice." He said. I chuckled.

"You do too. Now go get ready. You still have to take me to that place." I say. He smiles and yawns.

"Okay." He said. Miles got up, grabbed an extra pair of clothes, walking to the bathroom to get ready. Before he went in the bathroom, he threw me one of his hoodies.

"Thanks." I said once he closed the door. I put on his hoodie and was instantly warm.

Don't ask me why it has a weird symbol. Miles got out of the bathroom in the same hoodie and black jeans and black combat boots.

"Why such a dark look?" I asked him playfully.

"I could ask you the same thing." He said with a smirk.

"Touché." I said. He grabbed my hand and we went downstairs.

"Have you eaten?" He asked me. I shook my head no and saw my friends in the kitchen. They waved at me as I realized someone next to Tracey. Harriet or her mate weren't there with them for some odd reason. I guess she's sleeping in.

"Hey guys. Where's Harriet and her mate?" I asked them.

"Sleeping in. Who's that?" Tracey asked pointing to Miles.

"Miles. My mate." I said. They all smiled and hugged me. Miles stood awkwardly to the side and looked around. The kid I pushed yesterday came walking downstairs. Miles smiled and walked over to him. Tuning out of what Tracey was saying, I listened into what Miles and the kid were talking about.

"Why are you downstairs with them?" Asked the kid.

"My mate wanted me to." Miles said.

"Miles, who is your mate? I'm so happy for you bro!" The kid exclaimed.

"Katie." Miles stated proudly. I chuckled at him. The kid no longer looked excited, and with a straight face said,

"No longer happy for you." Miles frowned.

  "Why not Alan?" Miles asked.

"She's the nerd crusher." The kid, Alan said.

"Nah. She isn't bad. I'm taking her to the spot today. I know she will love it." Miles said.

"No. I forbid you to take her to our spot. It's secret, and where we get the best ideas. Common man. We are almost famous because of that spot!" Alan exclaimed.

"I don't care if she's the nerd crusher. I'm bringing her and you can't stop me." He said, his eyes glowing. I got extremely confused and scared. Normally, werewolves eyes turn black when their wolves are surfacing. They never glow. Alan paled and put his hand on Miles' back.

"Hey man. It's ok. Take deep breaths. Don't spill your secret. Your mate is fine, you are fine, everyone is fine. Just calm down." Alan said peacefully. I could feel Alan's power go down a few notches. Miles' eyes stopped glowing and he stood up higher, like what an alpha wolf does when they are proud and stuff.

"I'm taking her." Miles said coolly and walked back to me. I acted as if I wasn't listening in and actually listened to my friends.

"What are those two geeks doing here?" Crystal, one of my fake friends asked. I glared at her.

"Those geeks, are mate and mates friend." I snarled at her. She scoffed and muttered,

"You could have done better." Miles came up to me and put his hand on my shoulder. He towered me by a few inches, me being 5'9 and him being 6'3.

"It's time to go." He said. I smiled and nodded.

"I almost forgot. I have to get changed." I said. He smiled and nodded.

"Okay. Don't take too long." He said. I ran upstairs into my room, getting re-dressed. I put Miles' hoodie on downstairs.

"Ready." I grinned at him. He smiled and gave me two clothing items.

"Put these on. We don't want to get caught or breathe in dust." He said. I put them on, my hoodie on and my outfit complete.

I always have a pair of my trust combat boots. He put his on, along with his hood, and we went outside. I started walking to the car. He put a hand on my shoulder and pointed into the forest.

"Do we shift?" I asked him.

"No. Just walk. Trust me, you will love this." He said. We started walking.

After about an hour or two of walking, we were in a large meadow next to a ghost town. Walking under a tunnel, he grabbed my hand. We were way past the pack borders by now. Miles squeezed my hand.

"All right Katie, just stick with me and you will be," Miles stopped talking and listened to the sirens blaring in the distance. They sounded like they were coming from the road.
