Fandom(?): WoF
Name: Rangiferina
Name reasoning: Cladonia rangiferina, also known as reindeer lichen or grey reindeer lichen, is a light-colored, fruticose lichen belonging to the family Cladoniaceae. It grows in both hot and cold climates in well-drained, open environments. Found primarily in areas of alpine tundra, it is extremely cold-hardy.
Nickname(s): Rang; Fina; Rangi; Feri; Ferina
Age: 24 years old
Gender: Female
Sexuality: HomOSEXUAL BB
Previous Rank(s): 7th Circle, 6th Circle, 5th Circle, 4th Circle; Teacher at "Elementary School for IceWing Nobility"
Current Rank: 3rd Circle; Science teacher at JMA
Status: Alive bb
Tribe: IceWing
Appearance: Rangiferina has thin, alabaster-white scales with pale mauve underscales and tinges of orchid-purple along the wings, wing membrane, and spines. She has sapphire-blue flecks across her scales and lace-white highlights along her shoulders. She has piercing midnight-blue eyes with dove-grey flecks.
She is fond of flashy jewelry of sapphires, silvers, amethysts, and diamonds - jewels that represent her tribe's common colors. She normally wears amethyst earrings and a sapphire ring - she wears a lot of other jewelry, but the earrings and ring are the jewelry she wears constantly.
She wears glasses, but these glasses aren't to help her vision and are there only for fashion. They are made of clear glass, and the frames are silver with small sapphires at the edges. Her face is dotted with purple freckles so faint you'd have to look hard to see them.
She has a large lapis-blue birthmark on her front left leg that looks oddly like a bruise.
Personality: Is patriotic and very enthusiastic, loves to talk and speak her mind about anything, and she has strong opinions for everyone and everything. She loves gossiping and starting up rumors, and can be defensive when called out for her lies. She tends to make up crazy stories and is always soaking up juicy gossip about coworkers or bosses or neighbors. She isn't particularly friendly or inviting, and only if you suck up to her or do her a favor, or even giving her juicy gossip will she like you and then immediately think of you as her best friend. She exchanges a lot of gossip-for-gossip deals and is known as the rumor starter. She is up-to-date on all the latest stuff, be it fashion, favorited recipes, or rumors.
She loves to teach students about everything she knows, even if she's unsure about what to do with them sometimes. She does tend to favor students, though, if they do good in class, make it easier for her in class, or even mentioning something that is particularly rumor-inviting. Despite the fact that most people pass her off as an idiot, she is actually brilliant when it comes to science and chemicals; if you put her in a lab, she won't emerge for a day or two, and when she comes back, all she'll want to talk about is her discoveries and work. She is always working on one project or another and sometimes is a perfectionist.
When it comes to dragonets or emergencies, she becomes a whole different dragon. She is fair, understanding, and kind to dragonets or dragons in need — especially dragonets when they're getting hurt. She is extremely empathetic towards the younger generation, and despite her habit of spreading rumors, they're never too harmful and she always make sure of that.
Abilities: Regular IceWing abilities; can talk for a longer period of time than most other IceWings; is, actually, a smart cookie, despite how much of a gossip she is, and is a master at handling lab equipment
Backstory: For a little bit of background, Rangiferina's mother, Reflect, grew up in a strict household where mistakes and downfalls weren't to be tolerated, and they prided themselves in their obedient, powerful family and their close ties with nobility and royalty. Because of this, Reflect grew up exactly in her parents' image — the perfect child that did everything correctly.
Well, apparently, Reflect wasn't all too perfect, considering she managed to fall in love with a flunking, sixth-circle embarrassment named Bowhead.
At first, Reflect was very against the idea of liking Bowhead and hated herself for her feelings towards him. She distanced herself from him for long periods at a time, but never too long — she always promised herself she'd never see Bowhead again, yet every time she broke that promise and felt the need to see him.
Eventually, the feelings of love became mutual, and because Reflect is never the one to admit to anything, Bowhead was the one who confessed his feelings. Reflect, in a moment of rebellious impulsiveness, confessed her own feelings and they decided to start a super-secret friendship.
Bowhead had tried to convince Reflect to run away with him during their time together, but that just lead to argument — Reflect didn't want to believe she had actually betrayed her family. She didn't want to, especially since her whole life had comprised of believing that betraying the family was the worst crime to commit.
Reflect only changed her mind when she discovered she was going to have an egg. She told Bowhead exactly this, and she and Bowhead were about to run off to elope — only for Reflect's father to find them (as for how he knew, it was obvious. His daughter leaving late at night every night for months and then obviously becoming pregnant, all without telling the family? It wasn't exactly well-hidden) and force Reflect back home, telling Bowhead to leave and never come back, and that if he ever did come back, he would personally kill Bowhead.
Bowhead left, never to be seen by Reflect again, and when Reflect came home, she was in for the worst punishments and tongue-lashing of her life. She was reduced to tears when she was locked in her room and shunned from everyone in her household.
When she had the egg, her father said Reflect could keep the egg on the condition that nobody knew who the father was. Reflect agreed dismissively, because, at the time, she was barely recovering from her depression and hopelessness. Only later did she regret not smashing the egg as soon as she laid it.
When Rangiferina hatched, Reflect almost cried out in horror. Rangiferina resembled Bowhead so closely it was genuinely painful for her, and because of their resemblance, Reflect received more shunning and hatred from her family. Reflect quickly started ignoring and neglecting Rangiferina, teaching her the bare necessities that she had to and making sure that Rangiferina took care of herself (like cooking, doing homework, etc.) by herself alone as soon as she was physically able to.
Rangiferina, desperate for some kind of attention that she never received at home between her mother's neglection and the rest of her family's shunning, turned to school for it. She spread rumors, pranked, even occasionally bullied for the attention she craved. Oh, yes, she was pretty good at school — coming from a high-ranking, influential family had its benefits, and soon her teachers were practically tutoring her for free — but she was absolutely nasty to everyone else.
Eventually, so fed up with her mother's constant neglection and the rest of her family's shunning, she snapped at her mother angrily. Reflect retaliated, and it quickly turned violent, with Reflect digging her claws deep enough for Rangiferina to shriek and wake the household. Despite their constant shunning and "you disgrace us with your presence" glances Reflect's sisters always threw at Reflect and Rangiferina, they were horrified at Reflect's actions and were quick to help the furious dragoness off her crying dragonet.
At that point, Reflect's father decided that Reflect needed to put Rangiferina up for adoption in hopes that, even if Reflect and her family could not and would not raise Rangiferina properly due to Rangiferina's tainted heritage, that someone else would.
So, Rangiferina was put up for adoption, and, after a year or two, was adopted by Graupel, a hardworking, second-circle noble who was strict enough to put Rangiferina's bad behavior in line, yet kind, understanding, and fair enough to put Rangiferina at ease. Graupel would explain her decisions calmly and understandably to Rangiferina, knowing that Rangiferina was wildly unused to anyone making her decisions for her. Graupel had assigned a therapist to Rangiferina, and Rangiferina became a much better dragon.
Rangiferina, inspired by Graupel's hardworking and 'if you don't get it at first, then try again' attitude, had graduated with straight A's and decided to become a teacher, in hopes of contributing by teaching a younger generation — as well as, if the time ever came to it, helping out a dragonet in need of help and protection from a bad household, as Graupel had once helped her.

Enemy(s): N/A
Mate: N/A
Crush:
Princess Corona - Hard, powder white scales with ivory underscales and lavender accents along her wings and spines. She has frosty blue eyes with stone flecks in them. She has wide, strong wings. She wears her necklace that signifies her rank as a second-circle dragon and has sapphire earrings dangling from both her ears. Rangiferina and Corona haven't actually interacted that much, but for Rangiferina, it only takes one or two glances for her to fall head over heels.
Offspring: N/A
Family/Friends:
Graupel - Adopted mother. She has a light, wiry, flexible build, though she's gotten notable less wiry and flexible due to age. Her scales are a scratchy white, snowy color with azure-blue spines and wingtips; strangely enough, her scales look like she had originally been completely white before someone dropped a bucket of watercolor azure paint onto her spines since the azure coloring "drips" into her white scales. Admiral-blue underscales and admiral-blue highlights dusting her shoulders similar to Rangiferina's scales (odd coincidence, but Rangiferina loves this similarity — it's a comfort.) Dark sapphire eyes with charcoal rings around her iris, purple amethysts embedded into her scales, a necklace signifying her rank as a second-circle noble, and vibrant garnet earrings. She is an excellent hunter, animal-tracker, and fighter, and holds a great pride to her accomplishments. 72 years old but she won't retire for a long while yet.
Bowhead (deceased)- Biological father. Has a weak, small build. Thin alabaster-white scales, nearly identical to Rangiferina's scales. Lapis-blue underscales and cotton white highlights along his wings and lapis-blue freckles dotting his tail base. He has pale, cloud-grey eyes. As a sixth circle dragon who had long since been outcasted and disowned by his noble parents, he never wore a necklace signifying his rank and spent his last days writing music and playing songs on his flute. 38 years old at death (died due to the IceWing plague — the one that killed Queen Glacier).
General Reflect - Biological mother. Is a muscular and heavyset dragon. Has pearly, tough gleaming white-lavender scales with purple underscales and cerulean flecks across her scales, clustering near her shoulders. Dark, iron-grey eyes with coal black rings. Due to her prowess in battle, she has only obtained two ever-lasting scars during her whole period of fighting: a healed, scraped gash on her front left leg, and her left ear is clawed. She only wears her necklace that signifies her rank during important events. Her affiliation with Bowhead, seeing as Bowhead was so lower than her, was kept secret, and even now nobody except Bowhead knows that she paired up with him and had an egg. 50 years old.
Halo - Best Friend; Harp's identical twin. (Halo is an arctic phenomenon) Thick chiffon-white scales, with a fit, but slim build. Strong shoulder muscles. Obsidian black eyes. Wears her necklace that signifies her rank as a third-circle dragon. Almost always has a few thin scars on her body from training, hunting, etc. 20 years old.
Harp - Best Friend; Halo's identical twin. (Not the instrument. The Harp Seal) Thick chiffon-white scales, with a slim build; more fit and stocky than Halo's build due to a bit of excess training. Strong shoulder muscles. Obsidian black eyes. Wears her necklace that signifies her rank as a third-circle dragon. Almost always has a few thin scars on her body from training, hunting, etc. 20 years old.
