Name: Expression

Nickname(s): Express

Previous Rank(s): Advanced Napping Techniques Assistant

Current Rank: JMA student

Clan/Tribe: RainWing

Appearance: He has a lean figure, strong wing muscles, a long neck, and tall stature. His scales are glossy and elegant, and all of his colors vivid and extravagant due to having long, specific hours of suntime (longer and more specific than any other RainWing). He's rather attractive, and his scales are mainly scarless, save for a scar in the middle of his tail when Venus, another RainWing, tripped him and he fell awkwardly. Any of his colors pop out dramatically and are very bright, so he subconsciously makes his scale colors a bit duller or darker so other dragons don't find it hard to interact with him due to the blinding brightness of his scales. He has moss-green eyes and a prehensile tail that he habitually uncurls and curls repeatedly. His usual go-to color scheme is a dark blue with dark emerald green, with hints of purple or orange along his wingtips, ears, frill, tail, and around his horns and claws.

He sometimes wears a flower crown or flowery earrings.

Personality: Because of how much Suntime he's getting, the normal cheerfulness and pride that most RainWings would obtain translated into sassiness and pride close to narcissism, though recently he's tried to be a bit less so (which is partially because he's dialing back on suntime since he now has classes, and therefore less time for suntime). He's extremely picky and uptight about almost anything, and some dragons would consider him to be a bit snobby, in truth. He has a kind heart, though, and is willing to help any dragon that is in need of it and is encouraging and supportive and proud of any friends he makes. When comfortable with someone, he'll be less uptight and a lot more friendly and playful, and he actually has a great (if sassy) sense of humor when he actually wants to joke around.

Expression is very determined and very hands-on; if he sets himself to do something, it's not easy to give up if he really wants it, especially if it involves attention, because if Expression ever wants something, it's attention. He likes to be as accurate as possible, and tends to be very tidy and organized; he likes to be "sophisticated," in a way, or at least more high and mighty than other RainWings.

He is easily bored and finds a lot of other dragons he's met "boring" and "uneventful," whether it be because of their boring or dull choice of scale color (only reserved for RainWings) or because he simply finds their personality wildly bland. Despite this, though, he is fearful of unexplained happenings or a future he can't predict; things he didn't have trouble with until Glory came along, in which he was conflicted until he found out what was happening to his fellow RainWings.

He feels especially guilty for not realizing the RainWings were missing sooner, and tends to be a lot nicer and do a lot of random acts of kindness to try and make up for it morally.

Abilities: Regular RainWing abilities; he does especially like art, though, and occasionally trades abstract art for valuables around JMA.

Backstory: Expression grew up in the RainWing dragonet daycare; the daycare that most RainWings grow up in, surrounded by fellow dragonets and playing around with one another. Mostly, everything was fine; not lots of things happen at this age. They play games, they practice their camouflage, etc. The only difference to his childhood was that he was the prettiest — he seemed to have a natural beauty and spent a longer time in the sun than everyone else did. Later in life, though, when the dragons he grew up with could actually speak proper sentences, and they were older and smarter, they began to fuss over a dragon named Venus, who had the most extravagant scales because she spent much longer in the sun.

Expression felt challenged, though, because before, most of the dragons paid attention to him because of his brighter scales (even if he only had one friend). Now, some dragoness named Venus comes and takes the spotlight? No thanks. Expression went above and beyond; experimenting, calculating, and even becoming an Advanced Napping Techniques Assistant in order to help his progress along. Did he feel fuller during yesterday's suntime or today's suntime, where he slept at different times? Did he experience a greater change in his scale's brightness during the first week or second week? Does he need to change the times in which he sleeps during different times of the year?

Well, he answered a lot of these questions, and he achieved his goal: brighter, much more beautiful scales than Venus's, and after a small while of this improvement, the attention he lost to Venus returned to him, leaving Venus in the dust. Because of this, Venus doesn't like Expression, and Expression has to be careful; Venus likes to trip him up sometimes or spread rumors (Expression always clears them up, though, and calls her out for it).

When a mysterious dragonet named Glory came, though, Expression was curious. Extremely so; who was this dragonet? Why hasn't she been raised in the rainforest? Where was she all this time? What has she seen? Why did she come back? So many questions, yet Expression never felt to ask them; he felt intimidated by the strange-looking dragonets surrounding her, and when he heard about them being involved in a prophecy, he promptly decided to avoid them.

When Glory confessed to them all what was happening, Expression felt horrified with himself with not noticing their disappearance and helped invade the Night Kingdom alongside the other RainWings. He felt a strange thrill with doing it, even if he felt fear for what would happen afterward; he didn't like the way the volcano shook beneath his talons and feared the worst.

When the NightWings came through to the rainforest, he felt a special fury for all of them and tried to avoid them all, but one day, he met a NightWing who was around his own age, and after an awkward introduction, the NightWing — Storyteller — made Expression laugh by saying how Expression's name was a lot better than "Dazzling" or "Splendor," and it blossomed into a friendship (Expression kind of fell in love with Storyteller though;; but don't tell anyone).

He was pleasantly surprised to find Storyteller and him BOTH going off to JMA and being in the same winglet.

(This is where an RP may start; backstory can change slightly at the end depending on the roleplay)

Residence: JMA cave

Enemy(s): Venus

(Elegant female dragoness with a ripple of rainbow cascading down her scales at all times, all the colors bright and flowy; but not as bright or as flowy as Expression's)

Mate: N/A

Crush: Storyteller (he'd never admit that, though)

Offspring: N/A

Family/Friends:

Passion - Biological mother. A passionate, but very greedy dragoness. Is usually a mix of purple, black, brown and/or green. Weak crocodile-green eyes. Hatched with her back right leg paralyzed; this doesn't really cause too many problems since she can evenly distribute her weight across three legs and her tail, it's just an annoyance. Fruit Sorting Assistant.

Howler - Biological father. Curious and opinionated dragon. Is usually blue and violet colors, and looks pretty attractive, despite his unflattering name. Strong azure blue eyes. Queen Glory's Royal Assistant.

Storyteller - Crush/Friend. Storyteller has a short, malnourished figure, with a narrow chest and barely any muscle or fat on his wings or legs. Storyteller was born with two regular dark smoke-grey eyes with ashy flecks surrounding the pupil, but one of his eyes got clawed, so the one that got clawed became a ghostly, glazed cloud-grey (if you remove the cream-colored patch they gave him [he plans to dye this cream-colored patch black because he finds the color "too contrasting"]). He has thin dark denim-blue scales with dark raisin-purple flecks across his wings and tail. He also has blue-grey lead-colored underscales. He has a gleaming gold band wrapped around the tip of his tail that has a sharp bit of refined metal attached to it in case he needs to protect himself (if he "slaps" someone with his tail tip, it will hurt about as much as the whip-thin tail IceWings have because of how sharp the metal is). 4 years old.

Bituminous - Storyteller's older brother. Much larger than Storyteller, despite them being only 3 years apart. Black-blue scales and dark indigo spines, claws, and horns, with claw marks slashing at his shoulder and some healed scars on his snout. Has bloodshot eyes and narrow chest. They met a few times, but briefly each time. 7 years old.

Boysen - Friend. Bright and cheerful RainWing, with a sarcastic and mischievous streak. Scale colors change frequently due to mood swings, but it's usually a mixture of blues, yellows, golds, with the occasional stressed brown. Soft purple eyes. 4 years old.
