Her powers are later redefined as "light manipulation" and "sun summoning" by Agatha Harkness. She discovers her powers are unique because she is the only known person who can control light the way she can. This makes her a very powerful individual due to the uniqueness of her powers. Her powers are very strong, and they also work as an incredible enhancement when paired with the abilities of others (such as Wanda Maximoff, Vision, and Thor). Because she is what you might call "The Child of the Sun" or "The Sun's Chosen One", she is very well-known by the greater magic and intergalactic communities. Many individuals are very interested in her powers for this reason — whether it's for good or evil.

WEAKNESS(es) — Blunt force can shatter Riley's focus, causing her to drop her forcefields, turn visible again, etc. Her powers are also very draining. Her vision is also impaired due to the UV energy in her body, so she often wears glasses or contacts throughout the day.

PERSONALITY — Riley is known to be a logical thinker. She's observant, intelligent, and cautious, but also curious. She's courageous and brave. She believes in heroism and righteousness, which causes her to be rather self-sacrificing and loyal. She is very noble and stubborn, too. Once her mind is set on something, she struggles to let it go. She's confident, but can be arrogant, cocky, and competitive at times, too. Her lack of a normal childhood makes her a little immature at times, but she's tough and tries not to show it unless she's comfortable.

What many don't get to see is that Riley is very sensitive, empathetic, and loving, especially when it comes to her "village." She doesn't like to show it, but it's true. She is kind and warm, as well as humorous, sarcastic, witty, and clever.

EARLY LIFE — Riley was born as the first and only child to Athena and Rob O'Dair. Her parents were highly intelligent S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists. They were known for their extensive research regarding cellular generation, mutation, and modification. Word had spread that they were making extraordinary progress in their research, but the couple refused to release any information until their progress reached completion. However, they never got to do this, for when their daughter was two-years-old, she accidentally caused an explosion in her parents' at-home laboratory. The explosion killed Athena and Rob, as well as gifted Riley the ability to manipulate ultraviolet energy (i.e. become invisible, create forcefields, conjure ultraviolet energy, etc.).

Riley was taken in by S.H.I.E.L.D. immediately after the fact due to the manifestation of her powers and because she was a child prodigy to geniuses. Riley began training her powers and started the road to becoming an agent at two-years-old. She excelled greatly due to her competitive nature and determination. She's worked toward becoming a fantastic agent and future hero since then, eventually joining the Avengers and helping save the world several times.
