☕️☕️☕️

Friday and the weekend passed by, and many times David found himself thinking of Eleanor, often cheered when he recalled her friendly smile and genuine interest in how he was. His customers seemed to feel it too, for, instead of usually just quietly taking their orders with a neutral face, he would beam at them with polite "good morning"s and "have a nice day!"s. Not that he had ever been unfriendly, but there was just a general upbeat air around him that made a quite a few of this customers, to both his and their immense surprise, return his smiles and occasionally even say "good morning" or "thanks, you too" back to him. And so, the usual Monday grumpiness seem to dissipate in the face of the young man's cheery disposition.

Having chirped a "have a good day!" To a businesswoman, who had entered the shop wearing a frown but now had a small smile on her face, David turned back to the waiting line in front of his side of the counter.
His breath caught at the sight of a now-familiar green jacket standing at the back of the queue.
It's her again!

Forcing himself to focus, he turned to his next customer, dutifully taking their order with a smile and ringing up the cash register. He continued to work throughout the queue of customers with enthusiastic efficiency until at last, she was before him.

"Good morning!" David smiled, not able to help the lightness of his heart as he looked at Eleanor's kind face.

"Good Morning David." The woman smiled back, "How are you today?"

"Good, thanks," he said, "you?"

"I'm good, thank you."

"I'm glad to hear it! What can I get for you?"

A mocha with extra foam, he thought, at the same time as Eleanor said her usual order before handing him the money for it.

"Sure thing!" He said. Okay, play it cool. He held onto the cup, pen in hand, and asked as casually as he could, though his voice sounded a note higher than normal, "It's Eleanor, right?"

"Oh!" She seemed surprised, then smiled as though touched at being remembered, "Yes, it is. You've got a good memory."

David smiled back, he wanted to speak with her for longer, but was mindful of the growing queue, and also honestly didn't know what else to say, so instead settled for,
"That mocha should be ready shortly. Have a nice day!"

"You too, David."
