I can't stay here any longer. Each day keeps getting more miserable somehow. I stopped cooperating and I fear they will punish me for it and find a way to force me to preform their painful tests. I need to escape, but my mind was taken off that when a new kid arrived. He came here a few days ago, said his name was Jake Dasher. He had bright brown eyes and fluffy hazel hair, freckles spotted his cheeks.
He told me he kept having these weird dream, visions almost. So he went to the forest where they would take place and he would get this feeling as he got closer to the lab like he was being pulled. The guards noticed him near the edge of the lab, scanned him and when they realized his blood was positive and chased him. Jake didn't know that, he didn't know they scanned him to see if he would be useful, he didn't know how bad this place was. Maybe if he did he wouldn't of come.
"So what power do you have?"
"What?"
"Oh um never mind." I said. He didn't even know. From what he told me it was obvious he was a hero type. Someone who could sense when others are in danger and would come help them. But what I wanted to know was if he has a spirit within an object or able to summon something. But he didn't know he could so he's useless to me right now. Wait I might be able to use him to escape, I would find others with powers and then come back to help him and everyone else.
I told him my plan and he agreed to help.
"Oh, and there's one more thing you should know. There's a guy, his name is Jace. He likes to pick on new people so watch out for him, he mostly picks on me so I don't think you wanna stay around me. Actually he picks on everyone so watch out. I know I already said this but he's dangerous. I'm gonna go, see you around."
"Wait what's your name?"
I turned around and flashed him a subtle smile.
"Alec."

POV unknown
He panted although he had not been running. His eyes were darker now, portraying his emotion perfectly as he glared down at the younger boy. He was looking around anxiously, his eyes scanning the area. The girl next to him put her hand on his shoulder, as if to say 'it'll be okay'. The hair stood up on the back of the older boy's neck and he crouched lower, better hiding himself in the many branches of the dark brown oak tree. He could see the fear in the younger boy's eyes as he looked up, frantically searching the tree before moving onto the next one.
"He's watching me." He sniffed, trying to keep himself from crying as he searched the area again. "I can feel it."
These words were whispered, a sound a normal human shouldn't be able to hear. Expect there's one thing you should know. That boy in the tree, he isn't exactly human.

Jake
I didn't know what was happening the first day I came here. I wanted to ask around but I couldn't bring myself to, probably because I was locked in a room with just a bed, a desk, and a small room with a toilet. Meals were slid through a flap in the door.
I noticed the small camera in the corner of the room, watching me. I wanted to say something to it, I knew whoever kept me here was watching. I wanted to ask where I was, why I was here.
I was kept there for a day but the next morning there was a man dressed in a white lab coat. He was standing by the door with a clip board, writing something down. I coughed, getting his attention.
"Hello Jake." His voice was calm and steady as if he was practicing what he wanted to say. "I know you must have a million questions but I need to get a lot of things out of the way first. Ok?"
I nodded and sat down on my bed, it squeaking as I did so.
"You obviously must want to know why you are here, well your different. Here we want to study people like you and somehow use you to help others. This is a place where people like you can stay without fear that you will discovered. People born without your abilities can often act out when told this information. Here we will keep you safe."
"That's seems nice and all but I don't have... a power." I said, confused by his short monologue.
He wrote something down on his clipboard before continuing, "You will live in the barracks with other boys who are different, I'm sure you'll make friends quickly. The daily routine goes like this: you'll get up then get ready for the day before being lead to a room where you and everyone will eat. We will run a few tests if that's alright, and you'll go back to eat lunch, after you can go socialize with others after and eat dinner. Sound good?"
"Uhh, yeah sure, whatever. You kinda ignored me, I said I don't have a power. Also this place is kinda creeping me out and I wanna go home."
"I'm sorry Jake but we can't let you do that." He said and walked out the door, "we'll be back tomorrow."
"Wait, come back!" I ran at the door but I closed before I could reach it. "Let me out! Help, somebody!" I began to bang my fist on the cold, metal door.
Suddenly I began to feel dizzy and it became hard to keep my eyes open. Everything went black and I fell to the ground.
