Chapter 22
A very little something...
After spending two days hiding from the world, Jungkook was sitting on the bed of his room. Work was long forgotten with the pinging notifications popping up on his laptop. The happenings of the truth left him a bit too disoriented to even think straight for hours. He didn't know how long he had cried on that couch where the lawyer held down his trembling body in his arms.
Jungkook doesn't remember, all he remembers was the voice of that lady, the voice of his own husband betraying him again and again. His gaze fell on the black file that he had read for all day long and the tapes he had gone through the previous night. One after one. He listened to them, even read the file a bit too many times that he can now recall all the points with his eyes closed.
His swollen eyes left the capability of producing more tears and now after knowing the truth, all he could feel is bitterness. Bitterness. Hatred. And annoyance. This unwelcoming truth has slapped Jungkook with the disloyalty of his husband, his lies, the conspiracy of his father-in-law and betrayal from his own father.
One moment.
Husband?
And suddenly his lips stretched, upper cheeks crinkling till a strong loud laughter left his lips. He held his stomach when the bubbling laughter started to burn his lungs, “Such a hilarious word. Isn't it?” He asked from the breathless lawyer who just poked his head inside his room, eyes fully grown in concern when he heard the most gut wrenching laugh of his life.
“What?”
“Husband. It's hilarious how society has perceived different meanings of this word and made so many rules between couples. Turns out it's only matter how different persons made plans to hide behind this word to just do whatever they want.” Jungkook flicks his hairs away from his face and looks at the lawyer who pushed away the door and stepped inside his room.
Taehyung won't deny that the words pained him as a man that resides in such a society but he could understand Jungkook's pain as well, “ So we can say that the real culprits are the ones who take advantage of such a title.”
“I don't know…in my case all relations are all fuçked up.”
Taehyung looked at Jungkook then, and noticed how his puffy eyes were looking down on the mattress instead of matching with his own. It feels as if he was walking around the shells, he was seeing Jungkook after two whole days and he doesn't want to say anything that probably made this damn door shut on his face again.
“Have you… have you thought about-”
He couldn't even complete his question when Jungkook shook his head in an answer, “I haven't thought where to go from this. But in my mind one thing is clear…”
Taehyung waited. He knows his patience always runs thinner and thinner during such cases, he absolutely hates when judges take their pregnant pauses while declaring the judgements but today he chose to bite his lips as he stared at Jungkook who finally looked at him.
Awful.
That gaze was awfully sad. And it hit Taehyung with full force because he has never seen Jungkook like this. In the short span of two months, he has seen only countable emotions on such a beautiful face of the younger and none of them matched with the painful scenery in front of him. Something boiled inside him, the swirling waves making it bigger and bigger till it felt that anger again.
Jungkook gulped to keep his voice steady and said, “ I do not wish to keep this marriage anymore. I'd like to file for a divorce.”
Taehyung's lungs squeezed till a mouthful of air sent them enough relaxation to breathe again. The decision was a given and he would even suggest to spit on that jerk's face but he can't increase the bitterness that already reflects in Jungkook's eyes.
“Don't you want to confront him before?” He asked instead.
“I will. But I want to do that with those papers in my hand so that I won't have to face him again. If you know a good divorce lawyer, please help me. I will pay them the full amount of their work.”
Oh, Taehyung will write each and every letter of that paper just to make sure that asshòle receives all the charges for his fruitless deeds, “You will get the papers tomorrow, don't worry. Have you talked to your parents?”
Maybe he shouldn't have asked the question because it made Jungkook utterly silent again, his shoulders slumping further against the headboard. Taehyung moved his feet and sat on the edge as he waited for the answer but his own thoughts tugged something horrible inside his brain.
Nothing felt real at this moment.
Jungkook's terrible laughs.
His sudden decision.
His snarky words.
Something is not right about the way Jungkook was holding himself together after receiving such earth shattering news. But what did he expect? More tears? More curses? More disbelief? More trust? Or more humiliation? Or maybe Jungkook is built a bit differently than other human beings, with a solid gut strength to digest the news. Okay maybe he has crossed the line where he shouldn't be judging the emotions of the person who hasn't eaten in two days.
He won't be able to hear the faint whisper but he did because his own thoughts have started to get muted by the developing concern in his eyes, “They won't agree. You know how difficult it is to get out of a marriage in this society.”
Taehyung didn't have enough time to think about it before Jungkook clapped his hands loudly at once and said while brushing away the bitterness away from his eyes, “But I'm an adult now. I would no longer get trapped in their emotions.”
Again Taehyung felt that tug in between his lungs. He didn't get to look in the younger's eyes before Jungkoom scooted closer to him, hands sprawling on his crossed knees and moved over his face, “We have still four days left. Shouldn't we be making the most of it?”
The lawyer looked at him as if he had sprouted some nonsense right against his lips but Jungkook didn't think much when he moved his face and captured those waiting lips with his own. He wants to stop these thoughts altogether, the thoughts which aren't letting him blink or close his eyes, the thoughts which are still ringing in his ears making him wish for the boon of the deafness instead.
He went harsh on the elder's lips, chewing them apart till he made his mouth open enough to slide their tongues together when he realised that the lawyer wasn't kissing him back. His spine felt the tremors but didn't let go of the mouth that was still keeping his thoughts at bay.
Taehyung felt the lips trembling against his lower one, tongue tasted the fallen warmth from the younger's cheeks. He brought his hands above those cheeks, knuckles wiping the tears till his fingers grabbed Jungkook by his nape and pulled away.
He found the younger one's eyes shut in sheer embarrassment, alignment of thick tears reaching down to his chin, “You are more than this Jungkook. You know this. Don't let yourself get lost in this.”
“Why? What happened? Don't you want me now?” The anger rippled back in Jungkook's eyes when he opened them again. And Taehyung knows he needs to choose his words wisely or he will stand in the category of annoyance in the younger's mindlist.
“I don't know if it will make you feel better or not but let me put some honest words in your mind. You are the best among the men I have ever… gained pleasure from. You have ruined me for another man. No one would ever make me feel the way I felt when you were under me. I don't know if this treatment was fortunate or unfortunate for us but I will never be able to forget this for the rest of my life.”
Taehyung watched the anger dissipate from the younger's eyes, leaving pools of water behind it. He quickly brushed them away before they could reach down to his crimson cheeks, “It's not the time where you feel degraded by them. No. It's the time to make them feel humiliated for doing such things to you.”
His hands were supporting Jungkook by his shoulders, giving him strength with a tight squeeze so that the massage that he'll be here with him if he allows could pass down on the younger.
But he felt the younger bowing his head down in shame, making his head fall on Taehyung's chest. The elder respected the small cries and let his hands hug him till he calmed down. They kept sitting like this for a few moments or an hour, Taehyung can't say because he can still feel the small cries under his neck.
But then his ears picked up small shuffling, maybe the younger wiped off his tears before a trembling whisper found the voice, “Four years…”
His nape hairs stretched to the fullest when Taehyung heard Jungkook opening to him, “ How could someone get fooled by his husband for four whole years? All of this felt so…unreal and so humiliating and didn't make any sense at all. W-when I look closely, I still can't find any fault in Yeonsu's personality. Apart from certain occasions, He was always available to listen, to talk, to do things together. He never gave me an ounce of discomfort to put some speculations or doubts on this relationship. But I was wrong…”
Jungkook sniffled loudly and pulled away to look at Taehyung, “Why am I always so wrong while recognizing the real people? Why did Dad do this to me if he knew the truth about Yeonsu that he- . He never liked boys.”
“The answer could be only given by them. I am sure Yeonsu is great at hiding but about your Dad, I can't say much. How's your equation with him?”
“Good. Or maybe only I felt that. He has always encouraged me to make my own career when he could pressurise me to take over his company. But he didn't. He let me choose.”
“And during the wedding?” Taehyung couldn't help himself when he asked such personal questions one by one.
Jungkook blinked his eyes and looked down to remind himself of the day when he got tied up in a marriage. He gulped down the bubbling lava to stop his sore eyes from brimming again, “ He seemed happy. When Dad walked down the aisle with me, he asked to keep faith in him. That he will always be by my side.”
He looked up when Taehyung inhaled sharply, “Then why the fuçk he pushed you in this fraud marriage? I'm sorry but he looked like an asshòle to me and I will make him regret it if I found him being a part of Yeonsu's plans.”
“What will you do?” Jungkook asked, “Four more days and I will be out of your hair, your house and your life. I don't think it will be appropriate for us to be in touch once this period of treatment is over.”
“Oh the treatment was over when I first found out about your husband this morning! And this whole appropriateness can suçk my coçk but I will camp down in your life till I make them pay for their deeds. Well, unless you file a complaint and put me behind the bars, nothing can stop me.” Taehyung towered over Jungkook's head at once and crossed his knees to sit on the bed once again.
“You want a divorce now so I will prepare the papers and in future if you decide to put charges against your husband and in-laws, I'll be there as well. These two months were enough for me to develop care for you, Jungkook, take it as a friend, a hyung or some older guy from the neighbourhood but I won't leave you alone in this mess. You get that?” Taehyung was dead serious about his words. His soul crawls out of his body to even think about Jungkook standing in front of those devils helplessly. No, He will be right there to put their noses down and rub them on the sharp concrete of the road.
Jungkook's head was about to burst with the heaviness of his eyes. He was blinking his sore eyes slowly but all of his body was aching as if he crawled under a rollercoaster and let it stride over him. But he earnestly heard the generous words of the lawyer earnestly and felt grateful.
However, that gratefulness dimmed when another thought crossed his mind, “What about Mehrin? We should bring her back. I mean… I don't think it will be safe to live with him any longer.”
Taehyung nodded his head, “I will talk to the doctor so we can get over this little treatment contract and then I will retrieve her back. Don't worry, I don't think she will oppose you living with us. She will understand.”
Jungkook felt it again, the heaviness of his lungs as if it's burning his whole body to just breathe in and out. So he slowly stood up from his bed and said, “I want to go outside.”
“Where? Should I accompany you?” The sudden demand left Taehyung worried, immediately on his toes to clutch the keys from the drawer but Jungkook stopped him.
“No. I just want to get out of these four walls for a while. Alone. I will be back before dinner.”
Jungkook was already grabbing a jacket from his closet when Taehyung conveyed, “Okay but keep your phone with you. One call and I'll be there.” He had said everything due to his worried mind but when Jungkook took quick steps towards him, he thinks he may have cross some boundaries and the younger will definitely punch-
A hug.
It was a hug. A hug that left Taehyung in cold when Jungkook pulled away, “Thankyou. Thank you, Tae. For everything.”
He kept standing in Jungkook's room when the latter ran out of the house hurriedly as if he wasn't running away from the suffocation of his lungs but from Taehyung himself.
