Chapter 19

Chapter 19

#JusticeForFiona

Justice had finally been given to Fiona Filipowski. She was in the ground, ready to be buried.

Mahnoor, Abir, Oliwia and Alice stood beside the hole in the ground, staring down at Fiona's locked coffin.

The priest was speaking, saying a few words from the bible in front of him. The sky ahead was darkening, it looked like it was going to rain later. How appropriate for a funeral... but not surprising considering they were in the north west of England.

Maybe it wouldn't rain, maybe this year it would snow, it was Christmas Eve after all.

The girls didn't notice the weather, they were too busy looking down at the ground, at Fiona's resting place.

The priest soon finished his sermon and then turned to Fiona's mum, who kneeled before a pile of dirt and picked up a handful.

She threw it lightly into the hole, beginning to cry as she whispered, "Goodbye my darling Fiona, I will always miss you."

A few other family members, including Filipa, Fiona's sister, then mimicked Fiona's mum as they threw piles of dirt into her grave.

A figure appeared behind the girls as they stood stoically in front of the hole and tapped Mahnoor on her shoulder.

"Mahnoor, dear, are you not going to participate? Abir, Oliwia, Alice, you're all welcome to put some dirt into her... grave." Ms Filipowski said softly to the four girls, still under the impression that they were Fiona's best friends before her death.

"Oh no...um... I'll leave it to her family... uh speaking of family, I think my Mum's calling me from over there." Mahnoor quickly came up with an excuse to not have to say another speech about Fiona.

She then gave Fiona's mother an awkward hug, saying to her, "I'm really sorry about what happened, I completely understand how you feel. Thank you for inviting us to this highly important event. We will never forget Fiona."

Mahnoor grabbed Alice and Abir's arms and then walked quickly away towards the buffet area, as Oliwia followed behind, with her phone in her hand.

"Well at least this funeral's nearly over and they did give us free food, so maybe this won't be such a waste of time!" Alice said excitedly while she looked towards the mountains of food in front of her.

Oliwia's head sprang up, "Free food? Where?!" She exclaimed excitedly before rushing to the food with a plate in her hand.

The girls followed her friend and also grabbed a plate.

"Guys.. I Think we should go home" Abir said as she noticed Sharon giving them a dirty look.

"No! F.F wants us to be here.." Alice repeated the words that Mrs Filipowski said to them before.

"Alice! She hates us!" Abir argued back.

"She loves us! Oh.. Look Abir! White chocolate!" She said pointing at the Strawberries dipped in Abir's favorite chocolate.

"She hates us.." she repeated and walked away to get some Strawberries.

"So, Let's eat?" Mahnoor asked Alice as she looked at Abir and Oliwia that were putting more things on their plates.

The other two did the same and few minutes later they sat around the table near the Food place.

Mahnoor was busy with her pasta, Alice enjoyed her salad and Oliwia was eating another cake.

"Ekhm.. look who is coming" Mahnoor whispers to her friends as she stares at FF's Gang.

Maddie glances at the four girls then sneered as she steered her gang towards them.

"Here comes trouble..." Oliwia muttered to her friends as she scowled at Maddie.

"Ooo nice dress, Mahnoor" she complimented.

"Yeah-"
"-Nice dress-"
"-Mahnoor"

Her posse followed, repeating her words. Mahnoor and her friends looked suspiciously at the four of them.

"Very pretty indeed. Must be expensive... it'll be such a pity if it got ruined..." She got closer  "oops!" She exclaimed with a giggle as she grabbed a cup of purple liquid and threw it all over Mahnoor's sparkling dress.

Her posse walked past and spilled their drinks on Alice's , Oliwia's and Abir's clothes before sauntering off after Maddie.

"WHAT THE FUCK ?!" Oliwia screamed at them and stood up grabbing her unfinished cake and throwing it in the direction of Maddie.

Her friends followed her and grabbed their food and threw it at the girls standing in front of them.

Sharon and Rebecca screamed then ran up to the food tables and grabbed food and throwed it towards Abir and the rest.

Unfortunately, they missed and the food landed on Ms Filipowski, who was standing by the bar, attempting to discreetly finish her fifth glass of wine.

She gasped, nearly dropping her overflowing glass as she scanned the area, desperately looking for whoever threw the piece of cake at her.

As she looked for the culprit, her eyes managed to land on the shadowy figure of Inspector Ikbal, standing awkwardly in the corner of the hall.

"You! How dare you! You have the... the indignity to come here?!" She screamed as she stumbled over to him, blinded in her anger and the glasses of alcohol she had just consumed.

Ikbal gasped, stepping back with his hands raised in surrender as the woman stormed towards him.

He cowered into the dark corner, confused by the onslaught.

"Suzanne? What do you mean? Of course I would come! She... she's... well you know..." He whispered softly.

"Don't you Suzanne me, Zachary Ikbal! You know exactly what I'm talking about! You have no right to be here!"

"No right? NO RIGHT? I have every single right to be here!" He yelled back, suddenly angry.

"You lost that right a long time ago! Fiona is mine! So stay away from her!" Mrs Filipowski screamed at him, tears appearing in her eyes.

"No, you took that right away from me when you left with... with him!" Ikbal growled sullenly.

The fight between the tired policeman and grieving mother continued unbeknownst to Mahnoor, Oliwia, Alice and Abir.

The four girls ducked and dodged as bits of cake and sandwiches flew through the air.

Abir scrambled her way over to Oliwia, who was crouched near the table, trying to steal as much food as she could.

"Oliwia! We need to get out of here! We've caused enough trouble, let's leave before people get angry... really angry!"

Oliwia nodded then stuffed one last slice of cake into her mouth. She then got up and followed Abir towards Alice and Mahnoor, who were stood near the exit.

The four girls rushed outside, looking around for their parents and a way out of the churchyard.

Suddenly a bright flash appeared in front of the shocked girls.

"Wha-?" Alice yelled as she covered her eyes.

"Smile for the camera!" Someone exclaimed from in front of them.

Cameras flashed and reporters screamed at the four girls as they huddled back against the door they had just exited from.

"What do you want? What's going on?" Oliwia yelled as she took out a spare piece of cake and began throwing it at the crowd.

"We want an interview with guests from local victim, Fiona Filipowski's, exclusive funeral!" One woman spoke up as she beamed at the confused girls.

"Hey, wait a second, aren't these girls the four main suspects?" Another man yelled out.

"How does it feel to have people think you killed your best friend?"

"In what ways has Fiona's death impacted your life?"

"How did people react to you being at Fiona's funeral?"

"Do you have anything to say to our viewers at home?"

The reporters began calling out in unison as they crowded the girls.

Abir, being the most sensible of the group, tried her best to speak up against the rushed questions of their interrogators, but was drowned out by the noise.

"Hey! Get back from them! Leave them alone!" A voice rang out from behind the girls.

Eight adults marched furiously out of the back doors, glaring at the maniacal interviewers.

"Mum?"
"Dad?"

The girls exclaimed in surprise as their parents surrounded them.

"You leave our children alone!" Mahnoor's mum yelled angrily as she pushed back the reporters and led the girls towards the car park.

"They won't speak until they have a lawyer present!" Abir's mum agreed.

"You should be ashamed of yourselves, hounding children like this!" Alice's dad muttered in disgust.

Oliwia's mum opened her car door and quickly ushered Oliwia inside, "If you ever do anything like this again, you'll be hearing from court!" She called out before starting the engine.

The four girls and their anxious parents and siblings sped away from the fight inside the church and outside as quickly as they could.

Later that night, once the girls had reached their home and had time to reflect on everything that just happened, they began texting each other to discus all that had gone wrong.

Abir🦄: Why is it that wherever we go, we always manage to cause trouble?

Mahnoorch✨: People just can't handle our fabulousness!💁

AliceBirdy🐦: And being the only suspects for the murder of a 14 yr old girl certainly doesn't help!

Liv: Oh well, at least we got food!😋

Mahnoorch✨: You manage to find food wherever you go!

Liv: well it was time to celebrate!! THE BITCH IS DEAD 🎉

Mahnoorch✨: One sec, I just go a message from someone

The four girls all heard the beep of a new message ring out through their phones at exactly the same moment.

They all tapped on the notification without any hesitation, then froze as they saw who it was from.

I may be gone but I'll forever be in your heart... or maybe outside your window. You'll never forget me, so don't even try.
xoxo
