Chapter 5

"Where did you take them? We need to get Psythe to safety!" "Oh, Tomi, if you're protecting Psythe, who's protecting you," a malicious and familiar voice asked. A blur of pink and yellow leapt from a tree behind Akechi, landing next to him, and giving a venomous smile. "Mal, it's you," I growled.

"Yes, Terra, thank you for pointing out the obvious. How about you also point out that I happen to be Shiny like your Ralts friend behind you?" "It wouldn't surprise me. You also seemed like the elitist type." Mal, in anger, fired an Ice Shard at me, which was stopped by Psythe's Psychic.

I fired a Razor Leaf to counter the Ice Shard, which disintegrated into snowflakes when my attack finished. "Well, I can tell that we don't exactly see eye to eye. So, I'll make you a proposition," Akechi snarled. "Give us Psythe, and the boy's parents will not be hurt." A group of two Machoke came out, holding a tied up Gardevoir and Gallade.

"Mom, dad," Psythe cried desperately. "Psythe, don't do it," the Gallade called to the Shiny Ralts. "They'll hurt us either way, there's no way out," the Gardevoir told her son. "Well, what will it be? Future Sight can be wrong, so will you take that chance," Mal laughed, her voice oozing malice.

I had no idea what to do. Tomi and I had already lost our trainers, and we didn't want Psythe to lose his parents. But, either way, he could lose them. "No, I won't let you do this to him! Not today," I screamed.

I sent a single Razor Leaf at Psythe's parents, trying to break the ropes. The leaf sliced through one of the ropes slightly, but not all the way. "Oh, how noble of you. Trying to save them. Now, you've sealed their fate," Akechi told me, smiling venomously.

I saw Psythe's mother using Psychic to carry the Razor Leaf, to cut the bonds on her husband, so I tried to stall. As Akechi turned around, I leapt to him and used Tackle. He fell to the ground, grabbing me in his claws. I heard Tomi fighting Mal, so I focused on the yellow and lavender traitor in front of me. "Why Akechi, I can tell they all trusted you, and yet, you've been working with Mal!"

"Because, Terra, associating with weaklings like you and Tomi disinterested me. Pokémon like Mal and I have reached the height of our power, and Psythe is also able to do so. Pokémon like you are full of wasted potential. So much, in fact, that your trainers abandoned you for being too weak!" He clamped his claw down on my neck and raised me into the air.

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Mal doing the same thing to Tomi. "And now, we're going to kill you! You were too weak for an amateur trainer, and now, you're too weak to stop us," Mal snarled viciously. "N-no, I'm not weak! I'M NOT WEAK," I yelled, so loud that the entire forest could hear.

"My trainer was the weak one! She couldn't take losing 3 times in a row, that's her problem! I am strong, stronger than you'll ever be! I am, Tomi is too, and we're not going to lose to the likes of you!" I could see that none of them ever knew this side of me existed, and frankly, neither did I.

But, what happened after that is the true attraction. As I finished my speech, I felt a power surge through me. I thought that it was from pride, or elation, but I knew that it was something different when I began to glow. As Akechi dropped me, I felt my body growing, stretching larger and longer. I heard my voice get deeper, and everyone's gasps of surprise.

When the glow faded, I saw that I was now taller than Psythe and Tomi, and the same size as Mal. I glared at Akechi, his mouth agape in fear, before knocking him out with a Razor Leaf attack. Tomi used this moment to hit Mal, sending her crashing into a tree. "Terra, did...did you just evolve," Tomi asked, his mouth agape. "Y-yeah, I did, I did evolve!"

Psythe ran up and hugged my side the best he could, managing to get his arm almost to the top of my shell. "Terra, you saved me, you saved me!" "No, Psythe, Tomi and I saved you. Besides, we still need to save your parents!" "No need, we freed ourselves in the commotion," the Gallade told the group.

"Yes, but if it wasn't for that unique Razor Leaf attack, Terra, we would still be tied up," Psythe's mother continued. Then, out of the bushes, Mal came in and grabbed Psythe by the neck. "Take another step closer and I'll kill him! I'll kill the kid," she shouted. Psythe just smirked, before whispering, "Ally Switch."

Instantly, I was in front of Mal, and I wasted no time knocking the Shiny Weavile to the ground. Psythe quickly ran to hug his parents, while Mal looked at me speechless. "How...are you...so strong?" "Friendship, I guess, something you wouldn't know," I replied before knocking her out with an up close Razor Leaf.

"So, wait, who will lead the guild now," I asked Tomi. "No way anyone will let Akechi back in after hearing about this." "We set up a line of succession in case we ever lost the leader," he responded. "Well, shall we go tell everyone that their safe?" "Yeah, let's go," Psythe shouted, jumping on my back.

"Well, I can't say no to someone as cute as you, Psythe. Let's go." As we walked, a thought crossed my mind. An uplifting thought, one that made me smile. I had finally found a new home, like Perry said, where my friends were with me.

Epilogue

"Dear Journal, my name is Terra, and I'm a Grotle. I used to be a trainer's Pokémon, before they abandoned me. I also have a really good memory. I loved being with my trainer, and will always remember the good times we had. But now, I have a different calling.

I was picked up by the Eterna Abandoned Pokémon Guild, and now work for them. Today is my first day, in fact. There are a lot of nice people, but what I really like doing, is helping out others. Other Pokémon who were abandoned are heartbroken over it, and I like telling them that they'll be alright.

Well, duty calls. Until next time, this is Terra, signing out.
