Chapter 7

I wake up with a jolt, my eyes opening quickly. Im laying down. I see that I now have a full tank of oxygen, and I have... 5 faces, all staring down at me.

"O-O-Oh thank g-g-g-goodness y-y-your o-o-ok! I w-w-w-was s-s-s-s starting t-"

"OK, broken record. That's enough for now, don't you think? Your starting to get worse and worse with your stuttering. Seriously. And, uh... morning." I heard a girls voice say. I move do that I'm now sitting up, facing all of the faces. I see Beverly, (of course) Melody, and 3 faces I don't recognize.
The one on the right has blonde hair with pink streaks, with a look of boredom on her small, pale face.
The one on the left has brown hair to her mid back with blonde streaks. She also wears black glasses and is looking around the room, looking for something.
The one in the middle has black hair and ombre streaks. (Picture above) She also has many peircings. She's glaring at me.

"Um... Morning... May I ask who you guys are, please?" I say politely. The one in the middle whispers something to her two 'friends', and they all turn to me, fake friendly smiles on all of their faces.
The one on the right speaks up first.

"I'm Kimberly. But everyone calls me Kim!" She and her friends giggle, except for the one in the middle, who keeps glaring at me. Melody tilts her head while hearing Kim say this.

"B-B-B-But y-you n-n-n-never l-let me c-c-call you t-that..." She says.

"Why, of course I do! Why wouldn't I?" Kim says, flipping her blonde hair. This is all so strange... I think to myself. The one on the left steps forward.

"Hey. I'm Jess." She says simply. She says it as if she doesn't even care, I say again in my head. I shake my head.
Finally, the one in the middle steps forward. Her piercing blue eyes gaze into my own. How can a simple gaze look so intimidating? I question in my mind.

"I'm Dawn, but everyone calls me Rebel. If you decide to call me Dawn, you will be sorry." She says. I nod. "That's everyone. Any questions?" She says. I shake my head.

"Alright then. Hey, Doc, do you think she can come to her room now?" Dawn- Or, rather- Rebel asks. He reluctantly nods his head, his hair not moving. Rebel glares at me harder, if that was even possible. She grabs my arm with her hand, turning her back to me.

"Wait! Let me... Let me say goodbye to her first." Beverly says. They all whisper to themselves, Melody already nodding and walking out of the room.

"Fine. When you're done, we will be outside waiting." And with that, they walk out.

"Beverly? What... What even happened?" I ask, not remembering much.

"Well, your oxygen tank ran out of air, so you passed out from the lack of oxygen. I was at the front desk, oblivious to the situation, when..."

Flashback time...

Beverly's POV

"...And sign here, then your done." The older lady says to me. I sigh and pick up the blue pen. I don't want to put her up for adoption... She's like my own daughter. I'd adopt her, and almost did, until I remembered that I already had 2 kids at home, and a 3rd on the way. I sign on the dotted line, and push the papers and pen back to the lady. She looks back up at me and takes them.

"Well, is there anything else I have to do?" I say to her. She is about to reply, but before she can, I hear a kids voice say,

"C-C-Come with m-m-m-me now, quickly, S-Sir!" A girl with short black hair says to me. She takes my arm and drags me down to the waiting room. I see Sarah, drifting in and out of consciousness.

Time skip...

"Is she g-going to b-b-be ok, S-Sir?" Melody (finally learned her name!) asks. I nod.

"She'll wake up soon." 3 other girls walk into the room.

"Who's she? Is she going to be okay?" One says. Her friend responds with,

"Kim, why should we even care?"

"She could want to... 'hang out' with us, Rebel." They all laugh, and stay in the room. Oh, Sarah... If you can hear me, then don't become friends with them! They seem untrustworthy.

Current time...

Sarah's POV

"And so that's that." Beverly finishes telling me. I nod, taking it all in.

"OK.  Thanks for telling me. So... Umm... I guess you've got to leave now." I sadly say. He nods his head, sighing.

"I guess so. But... Before I go, I forgot to give it to you earlier, so here..." He hands me a white box. I open it and see a cell phone. A newer one then my old one.
"I know your old one got destroyed in the crash, so... I got you a new one. It already has your old contacts, and mine in there as well. Not to mention, it comes with unlimited money, courtesy of yours truly. Just don't spend it on stupid games. Only the cool ones." He says. I hug him tightly.

"I'm going to miss you, Beverly." I whisper, because that's all I can manage right now.

"I am too, Kiddo. But I'll visit you whenever I can. I promise." He says in my ear.
He lets go, and so do I. His watch beeps.

"Well, I've got to go. The wife needed me home at 4." He says. I glance at the time. 5:30.

"Well, I'll see you later, Sarah." He says, starting to tear up. I'm already crying.

"I guess I will. I'll... see you later, Beverly. Love you." I say. He turns around and smiles.

"Love you too." And with that, he walks out, leaving me alone to think.

Now, why did I hear Jade before I passed out?
