Chapter 6
School was back in session; the whole class discussed the news stories. Jiro has turned around at her desk; she was showing Nami some songs to check out.
"You guys!" Hagakure chimed.
"Sort of," Nami answered.
"Yeah," Ojiro nodded.
"It was so cool that we got a few seconds of screen time!" Hagakure cheered. "Though I bet nobody noticed me in the background."
"Probably not," Shoji agreed.
"It is difficult to stand out when you're just gloves," Ojiro quickly said.
"We're totally big deals," Kaminari said as he leaned back in his chair. "Those news channels love us--we're basically celebrities."
"Yeah, it's kind of crazy," Kirishima agreed.
"Get over yourself," Jiro said as she looked over. "The hero course pumps out pros was attacked, and that's what they care about."
"The incident did bring good sales to the flower shop," Nami said. "We stayed open past our normal close time yesterday."
"I don't doubt it," Sero said as he laid on his desk a little. Nami leaned back tilting her head back. "Who knows what woulda happened to us if the teachers hadn't shown up."
"Why'd you say that?" Mineta cried. "I'm gonna pee myself just thinking about it."
Bakugo raged back at him. "OH, SHUT UP! GROW A PAIR, LOSER!"
"Maybe you shave the ego on yours," Nami suggested as she leaned back forward, looking at him.
"WHAT WAS THAT?" Bakugo shouted as he turned to her.
"You heard me," said Nami with a smile.
"I wouldn't have to if he wasn't such a damn chicken!" Bakugo said as he looked at her. Midoriya became mortified as the two began bickering back and forth and the rest of the class carried on.
"Did you guys see All Might fighting that Bird guy?" Sato asked as he threw air punches. "The dude was super strong and he still destroyed him!"
Tokoyami lowered his head a little. "Yes. His strength is truly a thing wonder."
The clock ticked and Iida dashed to the podium. "Attention! Homeroom is about to begin! Everyone stop talking and take your seats!" Everyone looked at him.
"Uh, we're sitting," Kirishima pointed out.
"Yeah, you're the only one standing," Sero added.
"Up front for everyone to see," Nami added as she twirled the pen in her hand.
Iida sat at his desk in frustration. "Dang, it!"
"Don't sweat it," Urakaka said.
"Hey, Tsu," Ashido greeted as she leaned back in her chair. "So..." Tsu caught the chair before Ashido could fall back even more. "Who do ya think's gonna teach class today?"
Tsu put a finger to her mouth. "Hm. No idea. Mr. Aizawa's still in the hospital recovering from his injuries." The door opened; they all looked over.
"Morning class," Mr. Aizawa greeted the class, he was covered head to toe in bandages.
"Mr. Aizawa, what are you doing here?" Everyone asked.
"Whoa!" Kaminari gasped. "What a pro!" Aizawa slowly walks over to the podium.
Iida raised his hand. "Mr. Aizawa. I'm glad you're okay?"
"You call that okay?" Urakaka asked.
Nami raised her hand. "Should you even be here today, sir?"
"My well-being is irrelevant," Aizawa said as he faced his students. "What's important is that your fight isn't over yet."
"Our fight?" Bakugo asked.
"Don't tell me..." Midoriya began.
"Not more bad guys!" Mineta pleaded.
"Are you going to be make it through in this class?" Nami asked looking at him.
"The UA Sports Festival is about to start," Aizawa announced.
"Yes!" Kirishima cheered.
"Ugh! Why would you scare us like that?" Everyone else demanded. " The sport's festival!"
"Let's kick some ass!" Kirishima declared.
Kaminari shoved his face a bit. "Wait, a second."
"Is it really such a good idea to hold the sports festival so soon after the villains snuck inside?" Jiro asked.
"They could attack once we're all in the same place," Ojiro added.
"Apparently, the administration thinks this is a good way to show that the threat has been handled and our school is safer than ever," Aizaqwa explained.
"Well, I guess no better way to do it than with the Sports festival since it's aired everywhere," Nami said.
Aizawa nodded his head. "Plus they're beefing up security compared to past years. This event is a huge opportunity for all students at UA. It's not something we can cancel because of a few villains."
Mineta was distraught. "I'm sorry, but why not? It's just a sports festival!"
"Huh?" Midoriya asked as he looked back at him. "Mineta, don't you know how important this competition is?"
"Of course I do!" Mineta confirmed. "I just don't wanna get murdered."
"The person most likely to murder you in this competition is the gremlin of this class," Nami said as she looked at him.
"That doesn't make it any better!" Mineta cried as Bakugo twitched.
"The sports festival is one of the most watched events in the entire world, in the past, everyone was obsessed with over the Olympics games. But then Quirks started appearing. Now, the Olympics have been drastically reduced in terms of scale and viewership. For anyone who cares about competition, there's only one tournament that matters. The UA Sports Festival."
"That's right," Yaoyorozu said. "And top heroes everywhere will be watching." She clenched a fist. "This is where you get scouted."
"Sure, unless you're dead," Mineta pointed out.
"She's right!" Kaminari chimed. "After graduation, a lot of people join pro agencies as a sidekick."
"Yeah, but that's as far as some people go. They miss their chance to go indie and stay eternal sidekicks" Jiro pointed out; she looked at him. "Actually, that's probably where you're headed. You're kinda dumb." Kaminari twitched.
"It's true that joining a famous hero agency can garter your greater experience and popularity," Aizawa said. "That's why the festival matters. If you wanna go pro one day, then this event could open the path for you. One chance a year. Three chances in a lifetime. No aspiring hero can afford to miss this event. That means you better not slack off on your training."
"Yes, sir!" everyone responded.
"Class is dismissed," Aizawa said. School went on a bit more; Cementoss had ended the class allowing the students to head to lunch.
"That villain stuff sucked, sure, but I'm pumped for the game!" Kirishima declared as he stood in the back with Sato, Sero, Tokoyami, and Nami.
"We put on a good show, and we're basically on the road to bein' pros!" Sero added as he walked over.
"Everyone's surely going to be paying close attention to our class because of the villain attack," Nami said as she threw air punches. "We gotta live up to how the talk of our class! Go even beyond that!"
"Yeah, a little Plus Ultra action!" Sero agreed as he punched his hand.
"Yeah, this is why I've even here in the first place," Sato said as he punched his hand.
"We get so few chances," Tokoyami said. "We have to make the most of this."
"Oh, man, Ojiro," Hagakure said in a panic as she stood at his desk. "I'm getting kind of nervous about the festival. I have to come up with a way to get noticed!"
"Uh, maybe you should be looking for a shinier costume or something?" Ojiro suggested. "Otherwise, you're gonna have to try really hard."
Aoyama started to sparkle again. "My, what's a boy to do? I stand out even when I'm standing still. That means the scouts won't be able to take their eyes off me!" Koda was in a bit of a panic. "Don't you agree?" He nodded.
Kaminari sighed. "You're so lucky, Shoji. People are bound to notice your unique Quirk."
"Sure, but what matters is that I show them how useful I can be," Shoji explained.
"No doubt you'll make a scene, too," Jiro teased; this made Kaminari growl.
"This is going to be nuts!" said Midoriya. "Everyone's so excited."
"Well, yeah of course we are!" said Iida getting out of his chair. "We enrolled at this school with the sole aim to become heroes." He started to wiggle a little. "So naturally, we're all getting fired up."
"Wow, Iida. Those are some interesting moves," Tsu said. "Ribbit."
"You have to be excited too, right, Midoriya?" Iida asked.
"Well, yeah, of course, I am!" Midoriya confirmed. "And also nervous."
"Deku! Iida!" Urakaka hissed. They looked over to see her engulfed in intense energy. "Let's do our best in the sports festival."
"Urakaka, what happened to your face?" Midoriya asked in alarm.
"Seriously, what's up?" Ashido asked. "You're normally, like, the most laid-back girl ever?"
"PMS," Mineta said; he got smacked in the face-up Tsu's tongue.
Urakaka slammed her foot into the ground, raising a fist in the air. "Everyone! I'm gonna do my best!"
"YEAH!" Iida, Midoriya, and Ashido responded putting their fist in the air.
Urakaka spun toward the others. "I said, I'm going to do my best!"
Nami put her fist in the air. "You're gonna do your best!"
"Got it...." Kirishima said as he and Sero put their fist in the air.
"Uhhh..." Sato began.
"You okay?" Kirishima asked. "You kinda look like you're losin' it."
"I SAID I'M GONNA DO MY BEST!" Urakaka said louder.
"You're gonna do your best!" Nami repeated. They all then went off to lunch; Nami was chatting with Todoroki.
"Oh, this is going to be so fun!" Nami cheered.
"I do hope you are going to take this seriously," Shoto said.
"Of course I am!" Nami chimed as she looked at him. "I was going to start doing more training to do push the limits of my Quirk further; the festival sure is to help with that goal."
"This festival everyone is each other's rival," Shoto pointed out as they got in line for lunch. "There are no friendships in their competition."
"Of course there is!" Nami disagreed as they got in line. "The biggest challenge is not letting your friendships with others affect how you compete."
"That is an issue most likely for you," Shoto said. "You are quite the annoying social butterfly."
"You're aloof as ever," Nami said as she crossed her arms; they then heard a conversation happening a bit behind between Urakaka and Iida.
"I wonder what he wanted with Deku," Urakaka said.
"I heard that when All Might was attacked by villains during the USJ incident, Midoriya tried to stop them himself," Iida revealed. "Perhaps that's what this about."
"Oh, yeah!" Urakaka said.
"Also, remember what Asui said on the bus?" Iida asked. "Since their Quirks are so similar to each other it's possible that All Might's taken a liking to him. How lucky!" Shoto looked back, lunch came to an end and soon they were on their back to class.
"Nami," Shoto said. "About Midoriya?"
"Hm?" Nami asked.
"Do you think...he's All Might's secret love child or something?" Shoto asked. Nami stopped walking; he stopped and looked back at her. "Well, do you?"
"I think you're losing it Roki Dorki," Nami responded.
"Roki Dorki?" Shoto repeated as she walked past him.
Soon they were back in class and the next time they tried to leave; students from other classes flooded the door. Nami was at the doorway with Urakaka, while Iida and Midoriya stood a bit behind.
"U-um why the heck are all of you here?" Urakaka asked.
"Do you all not have somewhere to be?" Nami asked.
"Do you students have some sort of business with our class?" Iida asked.
"Why are you blocking our doorway?" Mineta asked. "I won't let you hold us, hostage!"
"They're scouting out the competition, idiots," Bakugo informed as he made his way to the front. Mineta pointed at Bakugo in fright as Midoriya tied to calm him. "We're the class that survived a real villain attack."
"Let's just hope he doesn't explode anybody," Midoriya said to Mineta.
"They want to see us with our own eyes," Bakugo continued as he stopped next to Nami. "At least now, you know what a future pro looks like. Now move it, extras!"
"You can't walk around calling people extras just because you don't know who they are!" Iida scolded chopping at the air as Midoriya and Urakaka trembled behind Bakugo.
"So this is Class 1-A," Shinso's voice came through; Nami saw him push his way up to the front. "I heard you guys were impressive, but you just sound like an ass. Is everyone in the hero course delusional, or just you?"
"Of course not!" Nami denied as she put a hand over Bakugo's mouth, everyone else shook their heads as Bakugo groaned.
"Nami's the only one I know from this class," Shinso said as he put a hand behind his head. "How sad to come here to find the rest of you are a bunch of egomaniacs." He scratched the back of his head. "I wanted to be in the hero course, but like many others here, I was forced to choose a different track. Such is life." Bakugo grunted. "I didn't cut it the first time around, but I have another chance." He tilted his head; eyes mainly focused on Bakugo. "If any of us do well in the sports festival, the teachers can decide to transfer us to the hero course. And they'll have to transfer people out to make room." There was a gasp from Class 1-A; Shinso looked at the rest of Class 1-A. "Scouting the competition? Maybe some of my peers are, but I'm here to let you know that, if you don't bring your very best, I'll steal your spot right from under you. Consider this a declaration of war."
'Where did this guy even come from?' Iida, Urakaka and Midoriya asked.
"Hey, you!" a boy shouted as Bakugo shoved Nami's hand off him. "I'm from Class 1-B next door to you! We heard you fought some villains, and I came to see if that was true. But you're just a bunch of brats who think you're better than us!"
"Honestly, we're thankful to still be alive," Nami said.
'Crap, everyone hates our class now!' Iida, Urakaka, and Izuku said.
"Talk all you want!" Tetsutesu warned. "It'll just be more embarrassing when you're KO'd." Bakugo started to make his way through the crowd. "Don't you ignore me!"
Kirishima got to the doorway. "Dude, where are you going? You gotta say something. It's your fault they're all hating on us, Bakugo."
Bakugo looked back at his class. "These people don't matter."
"Huh?" Kirishima asked.
Bakugo looked at the other students. "The only thing that's important is that I beat them."
"Hey! I'm comin' for you!" Tetsutesu shouted as Bakugo made his way through the crowd.
Kirishima clenched his fist in frustration. "I hate that, that was such a manly exit."
"Huh? Huh?!" Kaminari asked.
"You said it," Sato said.
"We have to beat them, he wasn't wrong," Tokoyami said.
"Yeah, sure, but this sucks!" Kaminari said. "He made us everyone's enemies."
"Yeah, that's right!" Mineta backed him up. "All of these dumb students will be gunning for us in the festival now!"
"Excuse me!" Nami said as she started to make her way through the crowd. "Got a flower shop to run!"
"See you at the usual spot," Shinso said.
"Right, see you there!" Nami said as she got freed from the crowd; she looked to see Bakugo rounding the corner; she sped up to him.
"What do you want, Star Girl?" Bakugo asked as Nami caught up to him.
"I want to make a pact with you, Gremlin" Nami said as she got in front of him.
"In your stupid dreams," Bakugo said getting around her.
"This is a pact that can be easily broken," Nami said as she got in front of him again. "There's something I need you to help me with."
"This festival isn't a team effort dumbass," Bakugo said as he looked down at her.
"True," Nami nodded. "But there are three events in the festival, any of those can call for the possibility of a team up with other students."
"Why the hell would I want to team up with a weakling like you?" Bakugo asked as he tilted his head.
"Putting friendships aside," Nami began; she pointed at him and then at herself. "I want you to help me destroy Todoroki."
An evil smile filled Bakugo's face. "All right." He held up his hand high. "Let's murder him."
"I know the exact flowers to put at his headstone," Nami said as she clasped her palm in his; Nami's quirk leaked out a bit; engulfing them both in a single candle shape. Bakugo suddenly stepped; turning his head away; he held his phone out to her. "Huh?"
"Put your damn number in," Bakugo ordered. "We can discuss more details of this easily broken pact of yours."
"Oh, alright," Nami said as she took it. "Star Girl...birthday: February 19th."
"Don't put damn useless information in there!" Bakugo shouted as he snatched his phone back.

On the way home; Shinso walked with his face toward the sky as Nami skipped.
"Nami," Hitoshi said. "The declaration of war I put on your class doesn't apply to you."
Nami spun around making him bump into her. "It should!"
"It should?" Hitoshi asked as he pushed her back a bit.
"If you consider our friendship in this competition then you won't be bringing your 100%," Nami said. "Come at this as if you are trying to take my spot!"
Hitoshi stared down at her; scratching th back of his head. 'Treating Nami as a rival is strange when she's been the biggest cheerleader for my desire to be a hero.'

For the next two weeks, the students trained hard for the upcoming festival. Nami thirty minutes in front of a sun lamp before and after school; the energy from the sun lamps helped give power to her Quirk...the sun itself was a big help. Due to the fact, Nami's body holds a lot of radiation; she isn't as affected by radiation as others. Thankfully when her Quirk leaks out and engulfs others; it doesn't affect them.
Nami studied multiple star charts; at school, she trained in many ways including creating multiple stars at once controlling to go any direction she desired; as well as creating multiple stellar swords. At a forested area on campus; Nami was now sitting against a tree; both her arms from the elbow down and legs from the knees down were currently in 'outer space.' She heard a rustling approaching; she glanced to see Bakugo walking toward her with his face toward the ground; hands in his pockets as usual.
The two had made a very simple throw-away pact: if any event involved a team
Destroy Roki Dokri
Destroy Deku
"Star Girl," Bakugo greeted.
"Gremlin," Nami greeted.
He then sat next to her. "I've been meaning to ask you about those explosions you caused."
"Hm?" Nami asked.
"At the USJ," Bakugo said. "I knew damn well I wasn't causing those explosions on the floor above me and that red-hair loser."
"Oh, those are weak compared to yours," Nami said as she saw her elbows start to make a comeback. "Nothing but supernova...pretty great for party bangers though!"
"Show me the damn move," Bakugo ordered.
Nami moved her arms a bit; causing two stars to form in the distance; then exploded; expanding then energy then collapsing; there were small shock waves from it; after that showing Nami watched her elbows disappear again.
"Mine are definitely better than yours," Bakugo said with a smirk.
