Before You Read

Hey everyone!

Thank you for reading Luna Eclipse. You're in for a ride, but first I need to give you a heads up for what kind of book you're about to read, and how this came about.

A while ago, the inklings of this story first emerged, but I didn't start writing it because I hadn't formulated a plot for it - I didn't have enough to go on - so I decided to keep reading, watching films and television at the time. This was several months into 2020's COVID-19 pandemic, so there was plenty to sink my teeth into.

I was recommended a book series and my goodness, I regret everything. I was expecting so much more but instead I grew furious at reading literary carnage, and that wrath was just sitting in my body with nowhere to go.

Oh, would you look at that, I had a book idea.

~(I would like to say this book series is NOT on Wattpad. I would never say the series, and I am glad, in a way, that I read them, because it did lead me to writing this story. Always read books that challenge you - even if that is your emotions instead of your thinking.)~

There were seven major things I hated with this book series;

1) Figure Shaming
No. We're not doing this anymore.

2) All the women were either assaulted in past/attempted assault, or abused
We're also not doing this. This trope needs to be thrown in a bin and burned.

3) Men demanded marriage
Like, nah. If someone's proposing, they propose. It ain't like, "We're getting married tomorrow. Paper's are being signed. You'll have my name." (Actual line) Oh will I? You think so? No I won't. If you wanna marry me you better be inclined to get down on both knees after comments like that and give me the respect I deserve and declare your love for me, mate. I ain't doing anything because you ordered me to. The only papers I'm signing are restraining orders.

4) The women were walked over and unheard
No. We have voices, and we have our own damn opinions too, and you have ears, did you know that? You have two ears and one mouth, that means you'll listen to me twice as much as you'll talk - seriously I don't belong in that series.
I'd be a balcony; claimed to have a higher standing but walked over just the same.

5) No brown eyes
I read four books with at least hundred characters - no brown eyes. I'm tired. I'm giving everyone brown eyes, watch me. You can't stop me.

6) All of it was heterosexual
Mate, we have gay and lesbian penguins in our reality. We have hermaphrodite aquatic animals in Antarctica. You can't argue with me on how you can't have paranormal shifter stories with queer romances.

7) The woman's entire character was thrown out by the end of the book.
Her independence, strength, and sharp wit that was introduced in chapter one to hook the reader was numbed, blunted, and dimmed to appease the man by the epilogue, because you apparently can't have an alpha pair of alphas without one being brought to be submissive. Alpha pairs should have two alphas. There should be conversation, discussion, as with any relationship, and compromise - but bowing to one another isn't a relationship as that series conveyed, that's a hierarchy, and it makes a horrible example to set for readers who might be reading that at too young an age.

Can you tell my book is going to be in the genre of Adult?

Anyway, Luna Eclipse is a representation of all the tropes I hate reading about flipped into a positive. I'm not writing these seven tropes. I'm turning them on their head and still going to give you a brilliant story, a thrilling plot, and loving characters and it's going to be great.

This book will contain the following;

- None of the seven tropes previously listed.

- Swearing/Cussing (if that's not obvious by now)

- A make out scene against a wall

- Yearning/long stares across rooms/thick tension

- Chocolate eclairs + innuendos for days

- A mysterious mystery that's every so mysterious...are you mystified?

- No sex scenes (...maybe, I haven't decided yet)

- LGBTQ+ CHARACTERS (Some are out, some are not, feel free to claim them as you read)

- DIVERSITY

- One character brings up the term 'pegging'

- Milo is a TREASURE and he definitely does not die.

- Greta is my favourite character I've written.

- One of the werewolf alphas is named Beau - did I name him Beau because he'll be the main character's beau or am I messing with you? Is it like me to mess with you guys? Or am I messing with you by saying I'll mess with you and are you going to call my bluff and fall for Beau as Greta's beau and he won't be and it'll be someone else? Or will it be a no-romance story? Am I bluffing?

- It's a romance story...or am I bluffing?

- HICKEYS MAKE AN APPEARANCE!

- There's an interrogation.

- There's a pregnancy.

- And there's a character lying about their name.

- There are no humans in this story. In this world, they don't exist. And that's because the author of the book series I read is human, and the book series pissed me off so much I didn't want any humans in this story.

LUNA ECLIPSE - ONGOING AS OF JANUARY 2022

Luna Eclipse is a paranormal fantasy/murder mystery, pitched as The Sound of Music meets Knives Out.

7 dead. 1 killer. A door that won't close.
Can you solve the mystery before the killer sniffs you out?

Before you read, here's your obligatory shovel, blanket, and handcuffs (shovel to smack characters you hate, blanket to wrap up characters you love, and the handcuffs...well... need I explain?)

With love,

Libby x
